The maximum time Mercy has ever spent in a place full of books was about five hours and that was only in her father's library when she waited for her lessons to begin. It wasn't as if she hated books, the auburn haired girl absolutely loved stories, especially fairytales. But her father would never allow her to take any book off his shelf or even read the newspaper when he brought it home each Sunday. Apparently there were things in the world he was just trying to keep her mind away from, or so her father would always tell her when she asked for one of his books. Though now for once in her life mercy would be able to crack open any book of her choice and let her mind wonder for the time being for today was to be the first time at a library. Mercy did feel rather daft seeing as practically every witch and wizard here had read at least one book or have been to a library before. But today she was determined to read at least one book, a complete book, and not just listen to someone read it to her. Wow I feel like a damn five-year-old or something, thought mercy as she made her way through the entrance hall and toward the library.

Pity, and somehow joy, crashed through her mind as she opened the door leading toward the library and took a look inside for a moment before she stepped through the threshold. Wow this is amazing, I haven't seen this many books since...well ever! Walking deeper into the library she let out a small child like giggle as she moved her fingers over a few books' spines as she passed them. The room smelt of dust and some other comforting aroma she had yet to identify, but what ever it was she clearly liked it. Making a B-line toward the fiction section of books and began to immediately look for any fairytales they had stalked on the shelves. The first one she grabbed was Beauty and the Beast, a story her sister's had told her small bits and pieces about a women who had tried to tame a beast who really wasn't a beast at all. As Mercy began to read the story she could feel the world around her sort of fade away into the distance as she concentrated on nothing but the book. She drowned out any noises she hears whether loud of almost silent as well as the feel of the vibrations in the floor when people walked past.

Once she was finished with Beauty and the Beast, Mercy went back to the book shelf and put the book back into its proper place and then grabbed a stack full of books, all fairytales. She took the stack toward a small table with three chairs and tried her best to keep hold of each book and to watch exactly here she was going at the same time. Reaching the table she walked around toward the other side where her back would face the front entrance of the library, but tripped over one of the two other chairs. Every book took flight and soon came crashing down onto her head or back as she lay on the floor, too embarrassed to get back up. "enfer ensanglanté...This would happen to me," mumbled Mercy as she slowly arched her back upward and pulled her torso up so that she was sitting on her legs. "That really hurt though." She began to rub the back of her head as she collected the books slowly, one by one.

The magic door opened and he walked out of the Room of Requirement. Holden was going to make his way back to the library to get another book to read. After finishing Grimm's Complete Fairy Tales and returning it back to his sister Mórrígan he had gone to the library. He had just finished the novel The Jungle and wanted to get another book to occupy his time with. As far as Holden was concerned you could never read too many books and when you were a vampire and couldn't sleep a wink that's all you could really do while people slept. To be honest he was quite bored with reading, but what else could he do? Holden needed to find a new hobby as far as he was concerned. He just wanted something to do that was rather interesting and not the same old thing. Days that were repetitive annoyed him and he tried to make everyday different from the last. Sometimes it did not work as planned, but he couldn't control his days for the most part.

His left hand went into his pocket while his right held the novel. It was so early in the morning so he didn't see anyone out and about. In another good hour or so the school would be crawling with early risers. A sigh came from his lips as he began making his way toward the stairs to go down into the Entrance Hall. Holden was taking his time as he walked toward the library. There was all the time in the world to get there and get back to the Room of Requirement or he would just go back to the common room to read. That's where he should have gone in the first place - the common room, but he hadn't thought of it until he had gotten into the Room of Requirement. Footsteps were silent as he began making his way down the stone steps. Holden began chewing on the inside of his lip out of boredom. I need to see what Mórg is up to. We really haven't been talking at all and we need to hang out. Maybe I'll just put her into headlock until she comes to her senses.

Bored with taking the stairs Holden jumped the last eight and landed on his feet perfectly. He then began walking casually toward the hallway which would take him to the library. Already he could feel and smell blood bounding through someone's veins. Might be another prefect, he thought to himself. Were prefects even still going about with their rounds at this hour? Not sure himself and not really caring he continued his way. At the library doors he walked in using his left hand to open the door. It was a bit weird opening the door since he had to use his foot to keep it opened so he could walk in. The heart beat was louder now and it was kind of bothering him a bit. Who would want to be at the library at his hour? Well I am in here at this hour so I just answered my own question. Shaking his head at his own stupidity he closed the door behind him and began walking to where he got the book from in the first place. Now what book am I going to get?

As he looked around the library for another book he also was looking for whoever was in the library. Hearing a stumble he looked up like prairie dog from a hole. His eyebrow raised and he began walking to where ever the sound came from. Holden's brown eyes darted back and forth around the aisles as he walked. The book he wanted was far from his mind now that he was thinking about who was making all the racket. Pale hands went back into his pockets as he continued his search. That's when he noticed a girl lying on the floor with a chair knocked to the side near a table. "Are you having fun reading on the floor?" To him it was rather disgusting laying on the floor at this school. People with their shoes on top of it getting dirt everywhere. Proper gross if you asked him. "I'm sure you would get much better lighting if you went over to a table and lit the candle." He looked down at the book the girl was reading and read the title The Beauty and the Beast. I used to watch that movie all the time when I was a kid. Remember Mum telling me I liked Gaston. Of course the Masen liked all the villains in movies. They were rightfully the best in any story.

A moment before the books came tumbling down on top of her, mercy could hear the foot steps of another and the main door to the library shut quietly behind them. She spicy, sweet and deadly scent of vampire filled the room causing her noise to burn and a head ache crept up toward her frontal scull. Mercy never really had much contact with vampires, but the few times she did their strong scent gave her the worst head aches. Though her father did try and train her noise and head a bit better, even after all that she still had the same problem. As she continued to grab books and stack them up two-by-two in her arms the auburn haired girl made her way back looking on each side of the books, watching each step she took. But not carefully enough since the next thing she knew she was on the floor and covered in books. Before she was able to pick them up though she heard someone's voice coming from the opening of the isle next to her. The boy's words and voice overall just completely agitated her as she continued gathering the books, stood up and brushed herself off.

Even the vampire's voice annoyed her as she could feel his eyes watching her and even hear slight disgust in his voice as well. "I wasn't reading on the floor, I tripped," mumbled mercy as she picked up the stack and placed it onto the table next to her. "Not that it's any concern of yours, monsieur." Putting the fallen chair upright and back into its place she made a B-line back to the shelf and put the book, beauty and the beast back in its proper place. Now why would a vampire be at a library now? Honestly, can't people wait until morning? Thought Mercy as she sat down in one of the seats at the table putting her back toward the boy and opened one of her books. As she began to read she couldn't seem to concentrate as much as she had been able to before and the annoying feeling she had wouldn't leave her either. “Were you planning on staying here forever, or do you just not have anywhere else to be? I’d really appreciate it if you’d leave; you’re very presence as well as scent it annoying.” Her voice was thick with agitation, but some how mixed with slight kindness.

"I'm not trying to kick you out or anything, since I'm pretty sure I can't rightfully do so, but well, this is the first time I've been able to read an actual book. It sounds weird, but it's really true, I mean I'm not stupid or anything I just wasn't allowed to back home." As Mercy tried her best to turn back to her book her leg began to shake rapidly, making a quiet tapping noise with her heel.

His eyebrow raised as the girl told him it was no concern of his what she was doing. "I have every right to be concerned. That's my job is to make sure no snob is up to something stupid," he snapped. As he looked at the girl he put his hands into his pockets. Holden was daring her to try to pull some crap on him because he would end it. Usually never did he get smart with people out of bounds unless they were acting like this girl right here. She had some attitude and he didn't like it one bit. The girl turned her back to him and it took all he could not to grab a book and throw it at her. Her scent didn't bother him too bad since he was used to it. His room mates were werewolves and he was accustomed to the way their scent was. When he thought she was she was going to ignore him she began talking again sending his blood boiling. Taking a big breath he held it and pinched the bridge of his nose trying to calm down his temper before he lashed out at her and did something he regretted.

"Does my being here bother you?" Oh please say yes. I beg you to say yes. Holden continued to stare at her and he could feel loathing toward the female. "Well I guess you're just S.O.L. aren't you? I can be here if I want to be." He had a badge that said he could be where he wanted when he wanted. Now normally he didn't abuse his power as Prefect nor let it get to his head, but on this occasion if it irritated the girl then he was going to abuse it. Anything that would get on this girl's last nerve he was going to do it until she blew up. Holden leaned against the shelf and put his feet down as though he was planting them. "You're the one that should leave since you're out of bounds. They give out detentions for that." Never had he gave someone a detention besides Katerina Peck because she irritated the crap out of him. His head turned away from the girl and began speaking again. "So? Does it look like I really care if my presence annoys you? Well if I'm bothering you so badly then you leave."

"I'm not trying to kick you out or anything, since I'm pretty sure I can't rightfully do so, but well, this is the first time I've been able to read an actual book. It sounds weird, but it's really true, I mean I'm not stupid or anything I just wasn't allowed to back home."

"You're pretty damn right you can't," he said with a sneer. She had no chance against him at all. Holden didn't care if this was her first time seeing a book in her life. There was no reason for her to have an attitude and to talk to him like that. A sigh came from his lips and he turned away from her not wanting to be near her. Her presence just makes him sick to his stomach. People like that really needed a kick in the pants. Someone was going to have to put her back in her place before someone threw a punch at her, or a book in Holden's situation. He shook his head and walked over to another aisle far way from the stuck up werewolf. Holden picked up a book called House of Leaves and began looking at the summary to see what it was about. Seems rather interesting, he thought to himself as he closed the book and sat it down on the counter. It wouldn't take him long to finish the novel so he was going to get another one to read once he was done with House of Leaves.

When he couldn't find another book on the shelves he began looking on more shelves. At one time he thought about memorizing all the titles on the shelves for the hell of it. It wouldn't take him much to memorize everything since he had extraordinary memory skills. Holden could read a book once and memorize everything he needed to. That's why he didn't read books more than once usually unless he was very bored with his life. What I need to do is start getting my Astronomy books during the break. No one will be at the book store and no long lines. Might go past Miss Barrington's room to see what I'll need. It's going to be so weird not having the same classes with everyone else. Hopefully I'll have a class with Asahria and Scarlett. The only class he would be taking this next term coming up would be Astronomy, and only because Constance was one good looking professor if you asked the boys in the house of Sournois. He put his hand into his right pocket and sighed.

A snob huh? Thought Mercy as she watched the vampire carefully. "How dare you call me a snob, you don't even know me and I don't care who you are, but you have no right to talk to me like that," spat back Mercy. Her father had always told her to never let anyone, male or female, speak to her in any spoiled manner as the vampire was now. No one was allowed to belittle her or speak ill fully of her unless she allowed them to. To allow someone to do such a thing was weak and never tolerated with her father or even her family, something she was grateful for. At this point Mercy felt the urge to roll her eyes at the vampire, but she could tell he was still on edge about her so she kept her mouth shut. Making enemies her first week here wasn't even close to a goal of hers, she rather have friends then be around people who hate her. Her sisters would always tell her she's have more enemies than friends with people skills as poor as hers, but she was attempting to change that and was hoping to do that here.

The male's words lingered in Mercy's thoughts as she listened to him talk and talk and talk. He really was getting on her nerves seeing as he spent so much time going about a subject she really didn't give much thought to. It was true that he was bothering her, but if he really didn't wish to leave then she wasn't about to push him out the door or anything like that. Not that she would dare even go near a vampire when they're this pissed off either, she knew better than that, or at least she prayed she did. Mercy could feel his anger and it just generally made her want to laugh. Every time she was put into a place with a serious atmosphere she always just wanted to laugh no matter what was going on. Covering her mouth she tried her best to keep herself from making any kind of noise, but the feel was too powerful and before she knew it she was laughing so hard and loud she could feel the table shaking underneath her. "I guess you're right, I am pretty out of luck by now huh?" It was all Mercy could manage while she was still in a fit of laughter. "I don't really care if you stay or not right now and I'm not about to argue about it either."

Finally quieting down her laughter she turned back to her book and let out small muffles of chuckles between pages. "I don't mind detention either." She knew by now her laughter was probably going to annoy the hell out of the vampire, but she really couldn't care less. Mercy couldn't care less about detention; it probably wouldn't be as bad as the vampire had made it seem to be. She had been used to getting scolded or punished by her parents, and they were pretty brutal about it too. Though she knew more experiences gave her more knowledge so she was really up and ready for anything at the school, even if it meant getting a detention from a vampire. The next book she read was called Aurore and Aimée. the cover of the book was a dingy white with the title written in gold letters on the front cover and the spine of the book. As she opened it the pages smelt of pine and dust, two of her favorite scents, and began to read. It was about two princesses, both beautiful in the beginning, but once one of them lost her beauty she was sent away and the other was crowned instead.

It was a somewhat sad story, but it really did remind her of life in general. That everything happens for a reason; sometimes good and sometimes bad, but people should just leave things as they are. Mercy was beginning to become engulfed in the story of the two princesses. It seemed either of them really asked for the life given to them, but both did as they were told seemingly all of the time. She felt sorrier for Aurore though, seeing as she had to go through so much more than her younger sister. Letting out a small sigh she quickly finished the book and moved onto the next; for someone who has never read a book she really was a fast reader.

As he held House of Leaves in his left hand he walked over to another book aisle about history. Never had he taken History of Magic since he thought it would be way too boring and he didn't want to put up with it. The only class that had ever caught his attention was Dark Arts. Anyone who knew what Constance Barrington looked like would take Astronomy as well - that's why mostly boys were in her class. Holden didn't like Astronomy personally since knowing about galaxies and all that jazz would never do him any good. It wasn't going to affect his life anytime soon so he wasn't too bothered by it. His brown eyes darted from title to title as he looked at the novels seeing what looked interesting to read. Even though he thought History of Magic was boring he was willing to give these books a shot. Maybe if one or two were interesting enough he would read more about it. Growing up in a Muggle home and not knowing his grandmother was magical left him in the dark and it had been hard going to school here until he got used to everything.

He sat House of Leaves on a table as he picked up Beauxbatons, A History. Even though he knew a lot of history about Beauxbatons already it wouldn't hurt to learn some more. You could never learn too much about your school. Beauxbatons, A History was sat on top of the other book he was going to read as he looked at the other titles. The Sournois pulled his right hand out of his pocket and he picked up another book about the first wizards and witches. He leaned against the table and began looking through the first chapter of the book. The scent of the werewolf meant she was still in the library and it didn't bother him. She could be in here too as long as she didn't start any crap with him or anything else. A sigh passed through his lips as he skimmed over the book. Holden rubbed the side of his face as he thought, Eh. This book is alright. Not too interesting, but not too boring. I'll read it later on. Holden put the book back on the shelf and picked up another book about the history of some major wizard battles.

Finding the third book he was going to read he picked up all the books and began walking over toward the librarian's desk. He was going to write a note to her saying that he took three books out of the library. Holden looked at the titles and wrote them on a piece of parchment taken from the librarian's desk along with a quill. As long as she knew the library books weren't stolen he was sure the librarian would freak out. Once he was done he put the ink bottle on top of the parchment so it wouldn't roll up and it would stay in its place until she came in the morning to check on books. His hand went through his hair as he sat up and left the books on the desk. Holden was going to walk around the library a bit more to see if he could find any other interesting books before he left. Hands went into his pockets as he walked around the library. The werewolf was close by and he ignored her as he passed her on an aisle. Now they were on the same aisle again and he wasn't about to talk to her. Cold shoulder.

A sigh came from his lips as he became bored. The library was starting to get boring and he was about ready to go. He would just stay in the library to read for the time being then he would go back to the common room to find something else to do. Maybe he could talk Raff and Nathaniel into going out and doing something other than stay in the castle. Holden walked back over the the librarian's desk and picked up the books he was checking out and went over to a table to start reading. With his wand he lit the candle and opened up the book about wizard wars throughout the years. His hand went into his hair as he put his elbow on the table. Flipping to the first chapter he read the first war between wizards. All they ever cared about was blood lines didn't they? If Holden lived back in those days he would be in so much trouble. He had grown up in a Muggle household all his life until he was eighteen. Then he learned he was a wizard and went to Beauxbatons Academy of Magic.
