Sadly someone has to come out and say it; this site is dying. I've not been very active either, but not seeing much people around doesn't really make you all excited to rp and stuff. I think we all should just pitch in some ideas about how we could get this place more active again. Without a doubt advertising would be most effective, but I think the rules and such could use some revamping too. What do you guys think? Any suggestions? We should all just think about this together and then find out what would be for the best and suggest that to MM.

_{I know, I have realised that this site is dying! And, this was my first RPing site and I really don't want it to die! There are a lot less people on it then usual, and it makes in not fun to RP and stuff. This site needs more activities, like Quidditch or Duelling}

it's sad to say but unfortunately its true :( i think its more and more people becoming busy and not having the time but i'm hoping we can all think of something that will motivate everyone else to come back. advertising would definitely be in the right direction i think. as well as a slight revamp of some things (:

I think right now has sort of been a hard time for everyone. Though I do definitely agree with Hyo that it doesn't necessarily make you eager to come back and reply when you see that not many other people have been being active either. I know I definitely haven't been on a lot, but I'm trying to get back into the swing of things. Just haven't had much time lately. Been spending the last two days on replies. I think advertising is always a great start. i think site wide activities always help bring in activity as well. The summer swing did their for a while, but contests always work too. A lot of people participate in things like that

There might not be enough activity for quidditch and such which why I think nothing has happened in that area. You do need quite a lot of people for quidditch after all ): I think there's been duelling stuff in the past... can't remember how that went. Anyone else remember that? Was quite awhile ago I think though.

Revamping somethings would be good, definitely. Just need to figure out what those things are. Something about the skin or what? What would encourage people to rp more?
Activities and contests are good and cool if the deadline is long enough. I tend to dread deadlines and worry about them, but that's just me (: My personality is just like that... I really liked the summer swing though, idea was great. Maybe some kind of side wide event... Maybe something evil happening, like the second Voldemort, lmao, I don't know. I don't even know how that could work... What does thrive people to rp?

I don't know, personally for me it would take a load of my shoulders if the post minium would be two paragraphs instead of three. I can get three easily and I know I'd write three or more anyway even if two would be minium, but I'm such a perfectionist and a worrier on top of that, that I got difficulties to start writing when I keep worrying whether I'll be able to write enough or not, although I know I can. It would make roleplaying fun again and not like it's... work. I think that's what roleplaying is about after all. Or rather if there was a word count and not a paragraph count, because everyone writes different size of paragraphs. Like I always try to have at least 150 words in a paragraph, I dunno where that has come from XD But that's what I always do. At least 150, but I try to have more in one. I don't know, maybe like 400-500 words would be good. Any thoughts or am I alone in this? XD

I've had a few ideas milling about lately, but it's mostly because Hyo's right and BB is losing activity ;_;

Post counts and years: Seeing as there are so few people and it's hard to RP as much, I was thinking maybe we can lower some of the requirements to go up every year? Just for the lower years - since being a first year for so long can discourage a lot of people from joining or staying active? It's harder to keep yourself motivated for such a long period of time when you haven't seen any results like... becoming a second year. I was thinking - maybe do something like this for the lower 4 years:

Character Limits: maybe we can lower that ban? I understand it's because of the lack of activity, but maybe if it's like.. you have 3+ characters, at least one of them has to be a boy. I've seen many sites do it and it's been rather successful. Maybe with more boys it will encourage members to join.

Quick Fire: We've tried quick fire threads, but somehow mine end up being long again lol I think perhaps adding something like "Owls" and stuff so we can have quicker messages? One thread = 1 post to someone or maybe, 1 page = 1 post? Just as another alternative to getting threads.

RP Mods: I'm thinking of searching for another RP Mod or 2 because many have become inactive.

Site Events: We should definitely have more of these! After the summer swing we should have more interactive events. I've seen "Picnic Basket" type things were you're randomly drawn to RP with someone - either someone your character knows or doesn't know? So instead of picnic basket, maybe we can have a camping trip at Celestiel Peak? Or something like that.

*Cupid: Playing on the idea of having a boys rule (3+ girl 1+ boy characters) then we could have a matchmaking game or something. Maybe have something more involving the journals etc.

Spam: Keeping the board spam-free is hard. Seeing as it's happening more often I'm thinking of having certain people who are mods specifically for spam only. Or maybe just going along with the RP Mods idea and having them be responsible for their own boards so that way you don't have to keep PMing MM to delete threads. It gets hard to keep up with sometimes, I'd imagine.

Proboards Enhanced: If there's anyone on BB who's good with coding, would someone be able to creative a mock BB site so we can get it ready for Proboards v5 when everything will get changed/updated? We're behind currently with the old proboards so switching to new proboards might change the layout and the codes. If there's anyone who's adept at getting everything ready with the new codes offered on Proboards Support, please PM me or MM to let me know!

Do any of these make sense? I've been milling on them for quite some time so maybe it'll work out. Many of these need approval from the acting admin first.

I loooove ♥ this site, and always come back, but have tended to disappear into periods of inactivity because of work. I have a bit more free reign now, and I think we could ALL turn things around - I definitely want to get more involved and think everyone making suggestions is a really good way to get things started! It also makes things easier for MM if we go to her with a more comprehensive list of suggestions, rather than just moaaning *moo-cow face* about inactivity ^^

Kabes, I think your ideas are SO good. I definitely would be up for helping out.

I LOVE THE CAMPING IDEA, KABES! LMAO! Must just say it right away. I think a camping&hiking would be really cool. People would get a good chance to rp with others better. Hhmm, I also thought about how some people are shy (like me, lol) to really join others roleplays and stuff that maybe we could somehow randomly pick up groups of people who maybe stay in the same tent or something? That way people had a good chance for their characters to know others.

Post count idea sounds good. It is harder to rp these days. It would courage people to rp more, because they can accomplish something with a lot of roleplaying (: 'Cause the old post count rules were really high...

Character limits... I agree. Most people got 4-5 girl characters. That should be changed. Every third or fourth a guy?

I wonder how the owl thing would work. A mod adding the post counts once a page or something has been accomplished? Would that work? I do want something like that though. Quicker messages would be awesome (:

Hhmm, no idea about proboards enchanced, I've just used invisionfree myself. I could try and check out proboards enchanced and see how much different the codes are... Someone else should probably make like graphics and stuff though, lmao. And I can't promise anything Someone else must be better than me with pb enchanced.

Yup, we need admins approval of course. I just thought that we definitely should have a thread and all suggest things and ask others opinions and then see what MM thinks. I think it would help MM a lot too if we all just pitch in and help her out with stuff.

But yeah, I like the idea of reducing the paragraphs required in any given roleplay post. Also, revision of the post count required to move up years - we thought it seemed reasonable at the time since they were even higher back then, but it's still quite hard to move up years x__x

Revamping the site sounds good - new skin, new banner. It feels like a long time since we had one (yes, I've been using one of the older ones compared to the pinker one that was probably made a few years ago xD), but it would be nice if things looked newer, in a way. I don't know about a site wide plot though, it was always established that things here would be freestyle... although everyone's encouraged to come up with their own plots that involve bad guys... right? We could still do that though I suppose that may count as an event... hmmm... how often should events be though? It seems like ages between some of the party events, so... eh, I dunno, I'll just go along with the flow I guess xDDDDD

I also totally agree about the character limits. Mind you, generally all my characters are boys... so if I make 20 that would totally make up the guys amounts!!

As for quick fire threads... we used to do that, when the paragraph limit was two <.<; I miss the quick fire rounds threads, someone make this happen, pweeze ;__; *bugeyes* xDDD

As much as I hate it, I must agree with it. I love this site and definitely don't want to see it die.

School for a lot of people is starting back up which could be part of it. I've noticed there seems to be more activity certain times of the year; it would be nice to have it more regular though.

I really love those ideas Kabriel. The camping idea sounds like a lot of fun.

gah i'm not the most active either in the summer mostly because of work, but i'd hate to see this site die since this was my first rp site and i have a hard time letting go of things i've grown attached to and love. i basically agree with everything and love the idea of owls. it keeps plots moving and i know on previous sites i've been on, it's nice to have owls to reply to when you're not up to writing a long reply. i know we have an icc box, but perhaps if we update the board we could move that to the main page? it might encourage new comers to pop in to chat and see that we are the most friendliest site to grace proboards! definitely not up to date with proboards enhanced, but i'm brushing up on my graphic skills again if needed

as for advertising, maybe an advertisement competition? whoever gets the most sites (without repeating sites of course which would have to be enforced greatly bc it gets annoying to others when a site double advertises) would win a prize? like the usual karma/posts/money? just to get an overall involvement and i love a good competition, but that's mostly me.

and just bouncing off of the cupid thing, any of the guys that want to sign up could get paired up with a girl. probably single guys since it'd be obvious for the couples and maybe to mix it up and give the power to the other members and not just the admins or mods by asking an ordinary member who a certain guy would go best with and it'd be almost a completely blind date? valentine's day is a bit off so you can just ignore this if this totally doesn't make sense.

And I also think perhaps we could add a few clubs - to give students a chance to join in together outside of lessons? Sorta of like a BB version of the Slug Club or Hermione's S.P.E.W?

We could even - if people wanted - make a sort of Quibbler with a love guru and everything. Students can send off owls to the 'Love Guru' and have their problems solved - or worsened - (I SAY KABES >> cause who wouldn't love to see that..) If people wanted we could even have gossip columnists (the non-meanie kind) and general writers - it would give students something to post about, and talk about, even when they're not inspired to post in a character thread!

I agree that a few more site-wide events wouldn't hurt anyone - they always get everyone excited!

More guys, Klaus. YAY! XD I got three boys and two girls. Next one's gonna be a boy. I like playing guys more generally. I don't know why. @_@ AND I'VE WANTED TO USE THIS ONE GUY FOR SO LONG AND FINALLY NOW I THINK I'VE GOT A CHANCE.

It's true though that side wide plot might not be good. You could always choose whether to join it or not. We can still come up with evil plots of our own, but usually it stays within a small group and not a lot of people attend to it then. Thought it would be fun if a lot of random students came together XD But you're right, it might not be a good idea.

I like the advertising competition too, Sampson. Would probably get more people to advertise. People should do it for the goodness of their heart rather than because of a competition though, but I know that competition would most likely make people REALLY advertise and not just post in one or two places or not at all.

Cupid thing... yeah, single girls & single boys, especially if the character limit is now ten o_o I think this will really bring more guys in here (: WOOOHOOOOO!

Clubs have been tried in the past I think and that didn't work. I don't know how it went, but clubs have been suggested every now and then and always turned down the suggestions, because of how it didn't work in the past. And although I also think clubs would be awesome... well, if they haven't worked then they... haven't worked. And then the same mistake shouldn't be done again .___.

Awe, Bella!!! I love that idea. Seriously though, I think it would bring some intrigue to the site. Plus I think it would be interesting to see something in character that isn't based around post count or plots. I think the idea of a quibbler is a lot of fun. But then so are the club ideas. I mean every school has them. We have quidditch, but it would give students other interests and reasons to meet outside of classes like you said. I love it

i was thinking along the lines of bella and what if we tried a monthly school paper. i LOVED being a part of my writing staff in high school and i can only imagine how amazing it would be inside BB. have a couple of stories from outside the school but it could be centered around the students for the most part. a gossip column, features, sports, news, advice, life, etc.
