Hana idled around the Palace hallways, having finished all her classes for the day which gave her great relief from all the work and concentrating she had to go through. She was confused. Usually lessons gave her a feeling of opportunity to do well, something to shine in but nowadays it was a drag. Her marks didn't fall, no, but her enthusiasm did. Dropping her book bag at the door of the always-vacant Empty Classroom, she strided across the room towards the scattered tangle of desks and chairs, mostly broken or too old to use. Sitting upon one of the standing desks, she swung her legs and let her eyes wander, searching for something interesting or unusual. Hana did that a lot, looking for something fascinating and amusing herself with it. This time, her eyes caught the dust-coated chalky black board. Across the streaky green surface was scribbling and text, mostly rude statements or something like 'Lisa like Timothy.' Just short silly statements scribbled with pieces of chalk that was abandoned on the threadbare carpet below the chalkboard.
Her eyes scanned it, reading the text and laughing once in a while, breaking the quiet not-quite silence in the room and in the hall way. Her eyes glittered with amusement, wondering when these scribblings dated back to. A few years ago? Last week? The very first year of the school's opening? No one could tell or know really. Chalk didn't have a special way to know how long it had been sitting across the blackboard and the blackboard didn't look like it had been clean for a very long time. A thin sheen of dust covered the whole surface, only proving that. Hopping off the desk, she walked over to the chalk board and picked up a short piece of chalk from the floor and searched for a empty space to leave a tiny mark of her own in.
A smile broke across her face like the sun coming out for the day once Hana found a small spot in the right hand corner. Positioning the chalk in her fingers the way she held a quill, she scrunched in two words in the small space. Dropping the chalk back on the ground, she returned to the same desk and sat upon it again, leaving 'H.R.D 2009' on the board. Doing that felt like hiding a time capsule deep underground in the school Grounds but less fuss. H.R.D were her initials so maybe her children or her children could recognize it when they attended Beauxbatons and writing the year next to it seemed a good idea. Admiring her handiwork, she swung her legs back and forth idly.
Turning her body around to the wall with the windows built into it, Hana smiled to herself as she gazed at the small but what she liked to think, select view of the sun setting behind the peachy clouds. Daylight was ending for another day.
