Walking inside, the entire office is small and quaint. There are plants lining every windowsill and shelf along with almost every book pertaining to animals, creatures, monsters and healing spells. There are three windows on either side of the room all covered with white curtains and are slightly cracked to let in a bit of air. A huge window at the back of the room sits behind a medium sized desk. The desk is covered in small pictures, a few papers and an open book entitled Common Magical Ailments and Afflictions. Directly in front of Astrid's desk is another smaller one meant only for a student serving detention. Normally a table of glittering objects would sit there, grabbing the attention of many.
Walking a little further you'll notice a rather large spiraling staircase. This leads all the way outside offering a direct and quick access to the Ground, Lake, and Enchanted Forest where classes often take place. There all many different cages and tanks each containing different creatures, both muggle and magical, alive and deceased, that line the stairs. The ceiling is cammed with cages of all sizes all holding rather puzzling...birds you might say. Tanks that contain water creatures, land creatures, and creatures that can't really be placed anywhere are scattered about.
Continuing on to the absolute back of the room are a huge, vast number of shelves. There are many boxes on the shelves and each of them hold something different: the eggs of Ashwinders, dried Billywigs, and the horns, tails, and exploding fluid from a Erumpent. Be careful though! Improper handling can be dangerous. Stacks of textbooks that have been torn, ripped, burned and, in every way possible, destroyed but are still good to use lie on the floor. These are for students that, despite fair warning, manage to still not prepare themselves.
Another spiral staircase leads upwards to open french doors. A soft breeze blows through the room and you smell sweet lavender and roses. Here are Astrid's private quarters, built beautifully and brightly. Although students or staff aren't allowed without permission, you can easily see a few bits and pieces inside. Such as the walls which are painted a lovely shade of mint with pictures covering almost every inch. Flowers and plants decorate the outside of the doors giving off their own sweet aromas.
As you leave to exit the room, Professor Llewellyn enters and offers you a warm smile, "Why hello," she greets you, "what can I help you with?"
What do when...
The lights are out, the door is closed, and you hear nothing on the other side of the heavy oak door. You knock upon the door three times and a long piece of parchment unrolls in front of you. In a soft, loopy handwriting are these words:
If you need to speak with me feel free to owl me or post in here with your questions. If you have to serve detention (let's hope this is not the case for your visit) then I am sorry but you have missed your detention time. You shall receive an owl the following morning and your parents as well as the head mistress shall be informed. You will also lose 20 points for your house.
If you would be so kind as to write your name, house, year, and matter in which you have come at the bottom I will get back to as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
|
