Sampson loved eating food. Food was probably the single most awesome thing in his life right now. Sampson would literally become a Hufflepuff if he had gone to Hogwarts. Sampson had cousins that lived in Scotland that went to Hogwarts and from what Sampson heard from them was that Hufflepuffs loved their food. The Kitchens were near the Hufflepuff common room and Sampson kinda figured that the Sournois common room was closer than the other two houses at Beauxbatons. Sournois was in the dungeons whereas the other two were in towers of some sorts. Sampson loved the house he was in. He didn't have to climb a million bloody stairs, was near the Kitchens if he ever wanted a late night snack and he got to be rude because Sournois weren't exactly the nicest people. Yeah there were a few nicer Sournois, but Sampson didn't consider himself one of those nice Sournois. Sampson couldn't stand people and he figured he was only a Prefect for his house because he liked to boss people around, telling them what to do.
It was really nice, but he abused it a bit here and there. He knew other people probably abused their power a bit to get their friends out of trouble or say they were taking someone back to their common room in the middle of the night to punish them, but Sampson wasn't fooled. He liked to think he created some of those tricks and other people thought they were smart and nicked them off of him to try to fool him. It wasn't going to work but it was fun seeing them try. He had other people to entertain him as well since Sampson actually liked to surround himself with people he deemed worthy of actually listening to. It had taken years for Sampson to get some real friends instead of back-sassing to. Turns out his sass and pessimistic ways were what people liked about Sampson. They found it funny. Sampson wasn't sure where their heads were when they decided to befriend Sampson, but he didn't complain.
Sampson was currently sitting at Sournois table stuffing his mouth with an apple. Just bitten into it, Sampson got a mouth full of sticky juice that ran down onto his chin. Running the back of his hand across his mouth to wipe the juice off his face, Sampson began to chew and look around. His friends had decided to eat quickly and leave which as unfortunate for them since they clearly had not enjoyed their food. Sampson was a slow eater. He liked to eat his food slowly so he could enjoy it longer. He simply refused to eat any foods he disliked because then he would have to suffer longer. This lead Sam to never try anything new or exotic. Sampson hated trying new foods since it was a risk for his taste buds. He took another bit and this time he had successfully bitten into the apple without having a bunch of juice roll all over his face.

******It was after hours and all of Cossu tower was silent. It had to be maybe 12 or so in the morning, but Leah was wide awake in her bed. She wasn’t quite sure what her problem was. Since returning back to the school after her mother’s passing, things had changed way too much. To be honest, she didn’t know where her relationship with Rue stood right now; he had not responded to any of the 20 letters she had sent him to find out. A part of her hoped that maybe he was just busy and was struggling to find the time to write to her even though he really wanted to. Another part of her told her that maybe he just hated her so much for leaving as abruptly as she had and he never wanted to speak to her again. Her stomach tightened into a knot just at the thought of it. Leah yanked her covers over her head and groaned. All of Leah’s reasons for leaving seemed so stupid now that so much was changing in her life. Her mother had died, yes, and it was a tragedy. But to stay in England for over year and try to attend Hogwarts (which was disastrous in comparison to Beauxbatons) ruined everything she had worked so hard to establish.
The tiny Cossu sat up in her bed, clenching her stomach as it began to growl. To be honest, she couldn’t remember the last REAL meal she had eaten. Leah was small to begin with, but her lack of nourishment made her look almost emaciated. Her face was slightly sunken in and you could see her ribs if you looked close enough. All of this stress, pain and sadness was not good for her health. She swung her legs off of the side of her bed and slipped on her light pink slippers. Perhaps she could manage to sneak down to the kitchens without being caught. She just needed something, even something as small as an apple, to hold her over at least until breakfast was served in the morning. She felt her stomach growl even louder. Yeah. Maybe more than apple was needed.
When she had made it down to the kitchens, the house elves pretty much refused to give her anything. They were angry, saying they were tired of annoying wizards and witches barging on them after hours demanding they serve them food. Leah left before they could yell anything else at her. Honstly, she hadn’t been rude at all. She had just asked politely if they happened to have any leftover food that she could eat seeing as she hadn’t eaten in a couple of days. Even the house elves didn’t care for her excuses.
Leah wandered to the dining hall, feeling far too weak to make her way back up to the tower alone. Her blue eyes spotted a familiar face with a ridiculous amount of food in front of him. Sampson. She rolled her eyes and approached him slowly, not even embarrassed by the fact that she was dressed only in her pajama bottoms, a tank top, and slippers. ”Of course you found a way to get some food from the kitchen, Mr. Prefect,”
she said poking the badge on robes and taking a seat beside him. ”Care to spare some? I pissed the elves off.”[/blockquote][/blockquote] ******tag || sampson abernathy words || 562 notes || im sorry this sucks so bad. Im still tryna get used to rping with leah. It was slightly strange to use the Dining Chambers at this time of day. Well, it was really night and that made things even more weird. Nobody was in the Dining Chamber and Sampson could finally eat in peace. Sure Sampson liked to eat with the few close friends he had, but some peace and quiet was nice for once. Everybody was so bloody chatting these days and Sampson couldn't even hear his own thoughts over the noise of people talking around him in loud voices. Now that it was, what? Midnight? Sampson didn't have a watch on him for once but by the lack of light and people out and about, Sampson figured it had to be somewhere around midnight.
It was really silly that none of the other Prefects or Professors had thought to make sure nobody was in here. It wasn't normally common for people to "know" where the Kitchens were or even how to get in them so perhaps the Professors just skipped by the Dining Chamber because their assumptions told them that it was a waste of time to check the Dining Chambers. Good for them though, Sampson thought. If they didn't, then Sampson would probably be making up some excuse as to why he had a full plate of food and sitting here after hours. The after hours part would be easy to explain since he was a Prefect and he was technically on his rounds, but Sampson wouldn't be able to concentrate on busting naughty students if his stomach was empty. All Sampson had to do then was act innocent as if he thought it was perfectly fine and thought it was a logical thought process. Professors usually bought it, but not without a skeptical stare. They always all left him alone in the end, but Sampson had to keep coming up with more excuses. If it were different professors he was giving the excuse to, then using the same excuse was perfectly fine. It was the clever professors that you had to watch out for. Their memories were wickedly sharp and Sampson had learned that the hard way once or twice when he was younger.
He bit into his apple again and as he chewed, he saw something he didn't really expect or want to see: a person. Sampson stopped chewing the food in his mouth and closed his eyes in annoyance. Just this once he had thought he could just be alone. People just always had to be popping up at such weird times. "Merlin." Sam muttered under his breath before the girl could hear him complaining under his breath since she was still slightly far away. Sampson really didn't know who it was that was coming towards him. He did see that this girl was what looked like in pajamas - which made Sampson's eyebrows raise. Maybe this wouldn't be too bad after all if she was in her pajamas, Sampson thought. Still, most girls looked the same to him when he didn't know them well. There were a handful of girls that really stood out to Sampson and when he thought of the girl he couldn't stop going back to, Sampson smirked. Eh, it was more like the other way around; she couldn't stop coming back to him. He would have snickered in that moment, but the girl was already too close to him and Sampson liked people thinking he was a little bit sane.
The girl even poked him. Right in the badge. Nobody touched the badge. Sampson liked to think he was one of the more intimidating Prefects to those he didn't like. Looking up at her face as she took a seat next to him, Sampson studied her face. Oh that's right. This was the girl that Desmond sent to him thinking that he could somehow help her. She wasn't a terrible annoyance and she just wanted to be a bit more reckless. He already bitched Desmond out about sending people to Sam to "help them". It was just a good thing she was a pretty girl. That bone structure could cut someone. "You pissed off the elves? Tsk tsk. Why didn't you just grab something for yourself? That's what I did." Sampson asked her as he set the apple down and rubbed the juice on his pants to clean his hands. He didn't want to give into giving his food away yet since he wanted to hear her story first. House elves were always a bit unpredictable when it came to late night snackers and Sampson loved every bit of it.

******Leah felt pathetic she even had to turn to someone else for help. Seriously, was she that bad that she couldn’t even handle drama on her own? Desmond was so nice to her though and, when he turned her onto his brother, Sampson, Leah was a bit skeptical. Why did his brother think there was something that Sampson could do for her that she couldn’t do for herself? Perhaps there was something, but Leah hadn’t noticed any sort of changes yet. She had been able to confide in her best friend, Asa, a while back, so that was definitely nice. Sometimes all you needed was someone to talk to.
She wished Rue would talk to her. Her problem involved him and yet he ignored her letters and her attempts to get close to him. If she was in the common room and he walked in, he moved faster up those stairs than a cheetah chancing an antelope. She was wrong; she got it. Why the hell did he hate her so much? Sure, she left and had broken his heart, but Leah couldn’t count on one hand how many times he had hurt her. Being the “other man” to a married woman, kissing his “best friend” and having the nerve to see Leah that night and tell her he loved her; breaking his wrist and confiding in his best friend over his girlfriend while he was in the hospital wing. The list went on and on and one. If everything seemed like utter crap, why was she still with him? She loved the kid to death: they had bonded at a time when Leah had needed him the most. When her late husband passed away, she was in as vulnerable of a state as she was now. Then, she had Rue to turn to. Now, she had no one except this kid who almost always acted like there was nothing he could do for her.
Sampson looked annoyed by the company until he realized who it was. I mean, it wasn’t like he embraced her with open arms like ‘OMG IT’S YOU, LEAH!’. His features just seemed to soften a little. A prefect huh? Sampson seemed like that disciplinary type of guy to boss people around. He didn’t offer her any food right away, and Leah managed to bring her eyes from his feast to his face. Looking at the food just made her stomach grumble even more.
You pissed off the elves? Tsk tsk. Why didn't you just grab something for yourself? That's what I did.
The small blonde shrugged her shoulders. ”I guess I’m just not in the mood to piss anymore people off than I already have,”
she admitted, nibbling on her lower lip. She constantly felt like she was in the way, bothering people, or an annoyance. Her self-esteem dropped below a level she had even thought possible for herself. Ms. ‘I’m always confident and nothing is going to hold me down” Gore was now significantly depressed, emaciated, and meant to be a perpetual cat lady. ”So are you going to share some of that or what? I’m already starving and if I don’t eat anything, I’m going to wither away into nothing and be a pile of ashes on this bench.” She wasn’t in the mood to mess around. Leah just wanted some damn food. [/blockquote][/blockquote] ******tag || sampson abernathy words || 560 notes ||sounds good to me. (:

He hadn't quite figured out what Leah's problem was. Sampson never understood why people felt as if they were broken because of some event. Sampson lead a fairly normal life and didn't put his heart out there like the majority of the student population did. He didn't get how people always thought that the person they were dating was going to be the one they were going to be with forever. Sure some people beat the odds and stayed together after they graduated from Beauxbatons, but Sampson's parents didn't marry their school sweethearts and ended up perfectly fine. Sampson had no real intentions of committing to someone because he knew that it would never last until graduation time. If Sampson actual threw away all his habits and beliefs, Sampson might consider marrying someone from here. The thing with that though is that he hates people. He thinks they're all small minded and pathetic. Their lack of common sense irked Sampson the most. Did people ever think before they did anything?! Sampson made sure to either stay far away from people like that or make it known how stupid they sounded. It's really why people in love said the stupidest things. Couples were a given to make fun of and roll eyes at. It was all just so disgusting to look at and hear about.
Sampson had hoped it was just some sort of daddy issues or a best friend not talking to her for "some odd reason". Sampson could handle things like that. Just leave love out of the picture and Sampson would became a Scrooge on your arse. It was a bad comparison since Scrooge related to Christmas and Christmas was definitely Sampson's favorite time of year. Nonetheless, Sampson would eventually get around to getting to the point with Leah. For now, he was eating and Sampson loved his food too much to really care to bring up topics that sometimes required his full attention. Sampson liked to think he was a good multi-tasker, but he often found himself only being able to do focus on one thing at a time. He wasn't even sure how women could do it. How did they fill all that information into their brain and use it all at once? It was something Sampson would forever be curious about, but wouldn't actually inquire anybody about it. If he really wanted to know someday, it would just come to him. Research wasn't his thing. He left that up to Gideon. Gideon was the intelligent one of the triplets and Sampson often left things for Gideon to do. About seventy-five percent of it was homework and the other twenty-five percent was getting dirt on people or finding out who someone was. Sampson was 1) too lazy and 2) didn't come off as the friendly type to get information about people. He had never mastered the phrase "keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer". Sampson preferred to make his enemies know that Sampson disliked him. He couldn't be sneaky like girls could be and talk behind their back but fake being nice to their face. Sampson already talked behind people's backs, but he never pretended to be nice to their faces just to keep up appearances. It was so not his style.
Sam knitted his eyebrows together as he heard a double meaning in that sentence she spoke. From what it sounded like, Sampson predicted a person problem. He didn't want to say friend or love problem because he'd rather not think about how this night might go. All he wanted to do was eat some damn food for Merlin's sake! Sampson should know by now that nobody was safe to just be alone. Everybody was popping up here and there. Sampson should know that he isn't always the only one that likes to roam the castle at night despite the rules of staying in bed after hours. Before Sam was a Prefect, he always took nightly walks. He was a night person and found that after ten o'clock at night, he was wide awake and would just toss and turn in his bed and wouldn't get any real sleep. He'd go in and out of sleep and it was just horrible trying to go to bed around ten at night. One or two in the morning was more like his bedtime. Sampson decided not to bring up the double meaning he was sure he heard. He was a quick guy to pick up on cues like that. Sampson lowered his eyes a bit when she chewed him out on not sharing his food. In the end he did push his plate over for her to take whatever she wanted. Sampson was still eating away at his apple anyways. "Okay okay, calm down. I was just giving you a hard time. Geez."
Sampson told her and bit into his apple furiously to make a point. "You really need to start stashing away food in your dormitory. That's how I survive. But I'm a Prefect now so I'm allowed to be out at nights. You on the other hand either need an escort or sneak around." Sampson told her with a full mouth of chewed apple and pointing his finger at her. Being a Prefect meant discouraging people from going against the rules, but Sampson always liked to give advice on how to avoid any trouble. He was practically an expert since he had only become a Prefect recently. It was nice though, to be a Prefect. Of course, it took all the fun away in sneaking around. Sampson liked the thrill of an adventure.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

****** Leah felt quite idiotic for reacting to her boyfriend treating her like crap in this way. She was such a much stronger person than this. She was definitely overreacting. There was absolutely no doubt about that. But, no matter what she did, Leah couldn’t seem to let it go. Perhaps it was because she knew Rue was the only guy who had ever given a damn about her and who care for her as much as he does…or did. That was her other problem; Leah had no idea what the hell was running through his mind! He wasn’t speaking her and he wasn’t giving her any sort of clues into how he felt about her. Did he still love her? Did he just want to be friends? He had been there for her when her marriage crumbled into a million pieces. Who on earth was going to be there for her now through all this?
Okay. Okay, calm down. I was just giving you a hard time, geez.
Sampson had finally shoved a place a food in her direction, but Leah didn’t eat from it. Now she felt immensely bad for possibly pissing off the person who was trying to help her. Well, was pretending to help her. Sampson genuinely didn’t look like he cared at all about what was going on with Leah but just didn’t have the heart to turn her away. A frown appeared on Leah’s lips and she shoved her face into her hands. ”Look, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to get all snappy. I don’t need you pissed off at me too.,”
she told him, her words muffled by her hands. Damn, this girl was just an emotional freaking wreck, wasn’t she? She dropped her hands and reached for the plate. There was quite a variety of food on here, but Leah decided to stick with some fruit. To be honest, she didn’t know how her stomach would handle anything heavier. She grabbed a handful of grapes and pushed the plate back to her companion. ”Thank you,” she told him, shoving three grapes into her mouth and feeling her mouth fill with its juices. Oh damn, this was good. She had almost forgotten what food tasted like. You really need to start stashing away food in your dormitory. That's how I survive. But I'm a Prefect now so I'm allowed to be out at nights. You on the other hand either need an escort to sneak around. Leah turned her blue eyes back to Sampson. Was her seriously giving her hints on how to break some rules? Ha, maybe he wasn’t so bad. ”Forgive me if I’m wrong, but aren’t you supposed to take points away from my house or something for being out after hours? I used to be a prefect, but that was so long ago. Have the rules changed?” she asked mostly to be a smartass. She knew he was just being a “cool” prefect. ”Are you volunteering to be my escort then? What kind of adventure are you going to be taking me on tonight?” She seriously was up for anything at this point. Leah just wanted to stop being so mopey and depressed. Sampson cringed at the sudden change in personality. One minute she was all down on herself and snappy at him and the next she was apologizing for being that way. He really wasn't used to such rapid mood changes and Sampson kind of just stopped chewing the rest of the apple in his mouth as he listened to her apologize. He wouldn't have minded her being sassy at him. Sampson could handle sassy and respond back with it. Sampson didn't do empathy or sympathy or whatever it was supposed to be called. He didn't do emotions. He was a man that preferred to stay away from talking about feelings. It must be hard being a woman with all those moods swings. He almost shuddered at the thought of such emotion.
He continued chewing after she stopped talking. He swallowed and stared at her with his eyebrows raised. "I'm always pissed off, Leah. If we're going to keep talking to each other, just remember I'm always sarcastic and enjoy people's pain."
Sampson told her and then sighed. "You can't take anything I say personal unless I say something like...well you'll know when it's supposed to be personal." Sampson told her, unable to come up with a good explanation of when he was being brutally honest. He did know he used his hands more when he was being angrily truthful. Sampson really didn't know since he couldn't see himself when he was like that. He supposed he could always ask his brothers some day when he was extra bored. Sampson just liked giving people a hard time. He enjoyed people's pain and misery. It made him feel like he had his life together more than they did. He just watched her eat the grapes he had on his plate and wondered when was the last time she ate. Sampson didn't really get why or even how people skipped meals. If Sampson didn't have three meals and day and some snacks inbetween, he would get cranky with hungry. He was a well nourished man and wasn't about to starve himself because of lack of time. Sampson always made time for food. He just nodded at her when she thanked him and took his last bite of his apple. All that was left of it was the core and the black seeds within the apple. Sampson dropped the core on the table and began to wipe his hands on his pants from the sticky juice that had got on his hands. Sampson held in his laugh. Was she really bringing this up? Sampson loved to take points away from people whenever he could and hardly gave any points to people. Sampson's lips turned into a slow and evil smirk the more he pondered the situation. He rested his head in his hand and his elbow on the table as he looked at her. "As a matter of fact, they haven't." Sampson said and then sat up straighter to act more professional when he said what he was going to say next. "Ten point from Rouerie for being out at night." Sampson said in his most pompous voice he could muster up. He slouched a bit after then and reached over to poke her in the cheek. "Is that better?" he asked in his annoying baby voice. It was just too easy. So she was up for an adventure, eh? Sampson stroked his recently shaven chin as he thought about what they were going to do. He stared at his plate of food he was still working on and really didn't want to waste this food. He quickly snapped out of his thinking mode and clapped his hands together. He could hear the noise he made with his hands echo throughout the empty Dining Chamber and paused for a moment to listen to the echo fade. With a small shake of his head, Sampson returned to business. "First things first: we eat the rest of this food." Sampson exclaimed as he grabbed for some of the grapes.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

****** Honestly, Leah didn’t know why Sampson didn’t just shoo her away already. She knew she was annoying; how could a girl who was pretty much whining about how her boyfriend wanted nothing to do with her not be? She knew she was pathetic and needed to move on, but honestly she had no idea how to. Leah had never been on her own for this long. When she first came here, she had a boyfriend after 2 weeks and then was married and then was widowed and then had another boyfriend. Maybe it made her seem a little bit like a sl*t, but it wasn’t like she just threw herself at boys. As conceited as it may sound, guys came to her and she never chased. Rue was the first guy she had ever chased, but he was technically her boyfriend. Doesn’t that count for something?
I'm always pissed off, Leah. If we're going to keep talking to each other, just remember I'm always sarcastic and enjoy people's pain. You can't take anything I say personal unless I say something like...well you'll know when it's supposed to be personal”
Leah wanted to laugh at how big of a jerk Sampson just made himself sound, but judging by the sigh that escaped his lips after he had spoken, something told her he was dead serious. She supposed it was such a shock because his brothers were nothing like him, especially Desmond. The blonde only wondered why Desmond sent her to Sampson for help if he knew how Sampson was. Maybe he thought his personality was what she needed to snap out of her “pathetic girlfriend” phase. ”I know. I’ve been taking what a lot of people have been saying a lot more seriously than necessary. I guess it’s just all this crap has made me super sensitive,”
she said, nibbling on her lower lips and turning her blue eyes to her folded hands on her lap. As a matter of fact, they haven't. Ten points from Rouerie for being out at night. Is that better? His finger poked her cheek as he took points away from her house. His voice went up three pitches as he asked if that was better and Leah tilted her head, raising an eyebrow and shaking her head. ”You’re annoying,” she laughed, shrugging her shoulders and letting out a sigh. Meh, even if she did just cost her house 10 points, it didn’t matter to her. Rouerie had won the house cup enough times. Why the hell did they even still have that damn competition? It wasn’t like people particularly followed the rules anymore. Sampson had been silent for so long that the echo his hands made as they clapped together had startled the small Rouerie. First things first: we eat the rest of this food Leah smiled, nodding her head in agreement. ”Of course; we couldn’t let all this go to waste,” she replied, grabbing an orange and beginning to peel it delicately. ”And then what, Mr. Prefect?” she asked. Ah, sensitivity. Women had those things they call feelings that made them so sensitive to everything. It was best to avoid women whenever they were especially pissy once a month. Sampson often caught himself finding out a girl was having that time of month when he got slapped in the face a few times. He usually kept his distance from then on and waited a week or two before the coast was clear. He was very grateful he never had any sisters or that his parents decided to have more kids. They kind of got a handful right off the bat with triplets. Sampson just hoped that if he ever had kids in the future that he wouldn't have triplets. He'd probably go insane and never live to see the day when they're grown up.
Sampson was perfect at shutting off his emotions though. As he took another bite of his food off of his plate, Sampson began thinking of all the ways he could help Leah become more like him. Well, maybe not exactly like him because there was only one Sampson Abernathy. He would help her turn off her emotions basically. Mostly so she could stop whining whenever they'd hang out. Sampson could like Leah more, but she was a work in progress. This would be a hard feat for him though since she was a woman after all and it was hard to tell women just to shut off their emotions. "Don't worry, that's part of the rehab you'll be going through." Sampson told her with a mouth full of potatoes. When he swallowed, he continued on. "Stick with me and soon you'll be able to be carefree!" Sampson said and clapped a hand on her shoulder briefly.
Sampson smiled at her comment though. Yes, he could be very annoying sometimes. Yet, people still talked to him, didn't they? People couldn't get enough of Sampson's twisted charm. He didn't often give people his full attention and when he did, it was almost like he was giving gold out to people. He wouldn't be surprised to hear people wanting to gain the attention and awareness of Sampson. That had a nice ring to it. He'd have to keep his ears open the next few days. If he remembered to remind himself to see if he was talked about a lot in a kind manner, then he'd be pretty proud of his terrible memory. Sampson just let this one go because he had shoveled a large spoonful of potatoes into his mouth. All that was left was the bread roll in which he split in half. He tossed half of it towards her and began to play with his half as he tried to swallow what he had in his mouth. He was eager to get going now that he had actual corrupting to do willingly. This would most definitely be an interesting night.
"Well we aren't going outside because it's not as fun as being out at night within the castle. Maybe I'll show you some secret hiding places or passages or whatever. I'm assuming you know about the Room of Requirements already?" Sampson didn't really know anybody that hadn't discovered it yet. If they hadn't, Sampson didn't know of their existence yet. If for some reason she hadn't, then he was definitely taking her there since it was his favorite place within Beauxbatons.
