Senseless Denial, We spun like birds on fire right down towards the residence and i I took all that I desired even crooks have to pay the rent We swam like rats on fire right, right down the reservoir We took all that we could carry but we tried to carry more Strands of golden blonde hair tickled at her nose as a rushed breeze pushed past the tree where Asahria had taken residence. Scrunching her nose she lifted a hand to push the soft golden strands back behind her ear and out of the winds clinging grasp. She couldn’t see the wind, but she could see the effects as it tugged at small branches and brought shivers to the lakes surface, as the water rippled. The days were still cold, though they seemed much warmer than the ones at home, but maybe that’s just because she was away from all the heartache she had suffered at home. It seemed as though her home was a place belonging to the cold, there was no longer anything there to warm it. Though she didn’t suppose there ever had been. Beauxbatons was more a home to her than anywhere else. She didn’t have a family anymore, not really, so maybe this was the closest she’d get.
Sighing she pulled away from her dark thoughts, leaning comfortably against the trunk of the tree, her legs stretched out before her. It was strangely quiet here at the lake, which could be considered normal in the colder months. In the summer though it was always a cornucopia of students studying or picnicking out on expansive lawns or even sometimes out for a swim, though she couldn’t imagine why. This water was always dreadfully cold. Shrugging her head she turned her attention to her cream suede boots. She had been knocking them together at the toes; it was comforting to have some sort of noise to accompany her, even if it was of her own making. They seemed almost out of place against the dark earth. In any other season she might have been worried over muddying them this close to the lake, but much of the ground remained frozen. Nothing that couldn’t be fixed with a quick brush of the fingers.
The last time she had been here the ground had been soft, then it had been nearly summer though. Then she hadn’t been a lone. While being back at Beauxbatons had come as a relief against being back home there was often pain stitched in every memory. Asahria had kissed Charlton here, not for the first time, but the second. She was almost entirely sure that this was where she had fallen in love with him, where she had come to know the truth about him. The very thought brought tears to her eyes. Regardless of everything she was still very much in love with him, he still had her heart. Being here now the memory was proving to be bittersweet, as were most of the memories that had been resurfacing lately.
Wiping away the tears she lifted herself from the ground, it seemed she had been crying far too often of late. She was lonely, but she had no one to confide in. That and Asahria knew that even if anyone offered she’d refuse the help – things were better off left alone. Shifting the dust off her grey sweater, she spotted a few pebbles and the ground and reached for them. It would do her well to stop thinking about things. With a handful of pebbles she neared the lakes edge as far as she dared before thinking she might sink into the layers of mud at the shoreline. Once she reached it she took a pebble in hand throwing it into the distance, barely giving the ripples time to fade before she threw the next, each pebble going farther than the one before.

She enjoyed them. She didn't think classes were like this. From a book she read, classes were meant to be torture. A smile graced her lips. That was a pretty funny story. She headed down toward the lake. She began humming a little tune, careful not to sing and hypnotize anyone nearby. It made it really hard for her to enjoy singing after she found out that she was part mermaid. If she sang with anyone near her, they'd fall under a trance. She finally reached the lake. Even though it was still winter, she didn't fear that she would get cold. Well, she was afraid that she might freeze to death but it wasn't that cold today. The lake always calmed her. Maybe it was because she was of mermaid ancestry that she was attracted to it.
She found a tree in which she could sit under. She leaned her head back. When was the last time she was met with such a peaceful day? Now that she thought about it, it was the day before she left for Beauxbatons. She had been afraid of how Beauxbatons was. She had spent most of her life traveling. What would it be like to just stay in one place? Through the soft patches of snow, she felt something poking at her hand. She lifted her hand and found a flower under it. She gave a sigh. Why did this happen to her? She did admit that it was a beautiful thing to be able to make flowers grow without using a wand but it confused her.
She was an orphan well, in belief since she never knew her mother. She didn't know what her other blood was. A witch and mermaid blood was enough for her. Elizabeth started singing a song that she heard somewhere but couldn't remember where. It soothed her just to sing that song. A sound of ripples startled her out of her daydream. A pebble was thrown into the lake. She immeaditely stopped singing. She didn't want trouble on her first days at Beauxbatons. She stood up and began looking for the source. It revealed to be a girl with blonde hair. "Excuse me but are you okay?" she asked the girl, hoping she hadn't put the girl in a trance. The girl looked a little lonely to her when she realized it. Hope it's fine |

Senseless Denial, We spun like birds on fire right down towards the residence and i I took all that I desired even crooks have to pay the rent We swam like rats on fire right, right down the reservoir We took all that we could carry but we tried to carry more The lake’s edge was teeming with ripples, despite the fact she was throwing the pebbles as hard as she could manage. Their weight did not seem to be carrying them very far. When finally she ran out of pebbles, Asahria lingered at the lake’s edge watching as the ripples wove through one another, marring the perfect refection that had been painted there only moments ago. It was like her life, muddled and confused. There was no better fit metaphor. Her soft blue eyes weren’t drawn away from the lake and her reverie, but the soft sound of melody behind her also worked to draw her attention. The voice was not one she recognized, it didn’t even have the slightest hint of being familiar, but it was strikingly beautiful. The soft voice soothed her and she could feel the tension releasing from her shoulders as the ripples slowly grew farther apart, once more settling, till it was smooth, almost like a sheet of glass. The trees reflected perfectly behind her and from this angle it looked like a painted portrait. It was eerie seeing herself so serene against the natural settings, she hadn’t felt so calm since before her mother’s death.
Just as quickly as it begun, it stopped. The rush of silence left Asahria feeling suddenly empty again, as though all the anxiety had never really gone. Biting her lip she let her blue eyes search for the source of the music which had so quickly entered her world before ceasing completely. She had barely had the chance to turn from the pristine image before her before a voice broke through the silence; ”Excuse me, but are you okay?” Turning about face, Asahria was met with long golden hair and an unfamiliar face. She wasn’t used to being approached by strangers and she hadn’t really been under the impression that she had seemed to be anything other than alright. While she liked to think that she appeared happy all the time, she really ought to know better. Asahria never had been very good at hiding her emotions, her friend Caelen after all had told her many times that she was as easy to read as an open book. She could only hope that this stranger could not read her as well as Caelen once had.
Feeling suddenly embarrassed at having thrown handfuls of pebbles into the lake, Asahria dusted her hands on her pale pink jeans before forcing a small smile across her lips. Yeah… I’m fine. she lied, taking a few steps from the water’s edge, I was just thinking. I get distracted by things sometimes. It’s only a way to get my mind off of things. Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, she contemplated the girl. She looked to be younger, well younger than herself at least. While she didn’t recognize the face, it could have been from her long absence, but Asahria was fairly sure she was new. I don’t think we’ve met before. My name is Asahria. Smiling simply she extended her hand to the girl in casual greeting.
