Lily was sitting around the Rouerie common room, per usual, working on all her coursework. She had segregated herself from the others and sat in a corner, sighing heavily at the amount of work she had to do. Lily always felt bad whenever she took herself away from the group like this, but she really wanted to get work done and it was not going to happen near that game of exploding snap. Perhaps as a prefect she was supposed to stop the two first year boys, but these little games were building their friendship and she was all about having friends, so she couldn't find it in her heart to yell at the two, even when she had a glaring headache. Lily rubbed her temples, trying to concentrate on her homework. She knew she had screwed herself over when she had taken so many classes, but she was a Rouerie through and through and wanted to learn and get the most out of her time at Beauxbatons. Not a lot of other schools offered the variety they did and she wanted to get the most out of it, call her a geek if you will.
Lily groaned loudly and got a few sympathetic stares from her fellow housemates, most of them understanding what she went through, but THEY didn't have to go for rounds in twenty minutes. She didn't even know who her partner was, that's how unorganized she was, as of late. Lily needed to focus on this reading. If she didn't finish, she'd have to do it when she came back, which would be so late, and she sucked at school when she was tired. Why did she want to be a prefect again? Why did she voluntarily go to school? One of life's many unanswered questions. She scanned the reading quickly and wrote down a couple of crappy answers to the analysis questions before calling it a day, reasoning with herself that most people probably hadn't even done the homework and she knew the reading well enough to argue her way through class the next day. Lily ran upstairs to her dorm room, threw her stuff on her bed, and seeing that she only had ten minutes, swore a bit, before changing from her robes into leggings, toms, and a big comfy sweater. She brushed her hair and took her wand, running out the door. If she didn't sprint, she'd be late and she didn't want her fellow prefect to think she was an idiot and undeserving of the role. Because she wasn't. She was only stupid sometimes. Please.
Her footsteps echoed loudly as she sprinted down the halls, luckily no students were out and about, it was after curfew, to see her in such a disheveled state. Lily arrived out of breath and panting to the Forbidden Corridor, muttering loads of "I'm sorry"'s to her companion. After catching her breath she straightened out her hair, so much for brushing it, and looked up at the prefect she'd be spending the night with. There was no denying he was attractive and immediately Lily felt a little on edge. She racked her brain to see if she knew his name, but her search came up empty. Now she felt bad, she didn't even know a fellow prefects name? Honestly, the founders of Beauxbatons were probably rolling in their graves at the moment. Lily stuck out her hand and gave him a winning smiling, her face still flushed from running so far (sue her, she didn't work out as much as she would've wanted, she would go on a run tomorrow) and said, "Hiya! I'm Lily, prefect from Rouerie reporting for duty," she grinned and gave a little mock salute, awaiting this guys name.

Sampson preferred to go on his own when going on his Prefect rounds, but he knew that the Heads would assign random Prefects to go together on rounds. They figured it was a way for other Prefects to get to know each other instead of being with the same house Prefects. Sampson probably would have preferred the other Sournois Prefects, but he had none of the power that the Heads did and sometimes that bothered Sampson. If he was Head Boy, Sampson would probably end up abusing all sorts of power with that position. Sampson already wasn't the greatest Prefect out there, but that was because Sampson wasn't a goody-two-shoes like his brother Gideon. It was a shame that Sampson preferred to look more polished than Gideon or they'd be able to pass off as each other. They were triplets, but Gideon wore t-shirts and even suspenders sometimes. It was a shame really.
Sampson was already in the Forbidden Corridor where he and his other fellow Prefect were supposed to meet. He knew he was early, but Sampson had overestimated how long it would take to get from the Sournois common room to the meeting spot where he was currently standing. Sampson was incredibly glad to be a Sournois since the kitchens were close by along with the Dining Chamber. Sampson never went hungry and Sampson was always hungry. If he ever needed to go outside, it was just a few stairs until the ground floor and out the door he went. He was never sure how people in Cossu or Rouerie could do it; climb all those stairs. Nonetheless, Sampson was still fit enough that he didn't die after climbing like seven flights of stairs. It was part of his charm; his toned body and Sampson wasn't afraid to show it off.
Sampson looked up from the ground when he heard footsteps approaching his direction and they sounded rushed. It could only mean that the other Prefect was coming, but Sampson crossed his arms just incase it was a student thinking they could outrun any authority. He had an eyebrow raised, almost hoping that it would be an unsuspecting student. Oh the pure fear he would see in that student's eyes. When the student came into view, Sampson didn't uncross his arms. It was a small girl in front of him with red hair. Sampson thought most people were slightly tiny since he was almost six feet tall, but there were people much taller than him. Sampson was fine with that though since he didn't want to be a giant compared to everybody else. The girl that said she was Lily greeted him with happiness and smiled. Sampson stood there examining her for a few more seconds before answering her back. "Sam. Sournois Prefect." Sampson told her as he uncrossed his arms. Yeah he liked to be slightly on the intimidating side, but that was more for the students that he would be getting in trouble. He knew that if he didn't at least get along with this red head he'd probably get chewed out by one of the heads of his Head of House. They should know by now that Sampson never got along with many people anyway. Nonetheless, Sampson sighed. "Well, let's hope for an exciting night." Sampson told her and jerked his thumb in the direction that she came in and began to walk ahead of her.

To be honest, Lily was slightly... intimidated. Just kidding, she was a lot of bit intimidated. Well, maybe not intimidated as much as scared. The look this guy was giving her was pure torture. He seemed to be scrutinizing her every detail. She absentmindedly played with a strand of her hair and bit her lip. It's like he was trying to find as many flaws as possible. Like please, try more to dislike me before we've even met. Lily sighed and waited for the guy to finish his once over, maybe she was deemed "suitable" as he introduced himself. Sam, cute name. Sournois, no wonder he was so standoff-ish. Lily didn't like to generalize, but he was being mean so she was mentally being mean. It's not as though he was Edward Cullen and could hear her thoughts. What if he is? That'd be sooo awkward. Hello Sam! She looked to see if he reacted, he didn't. Phewf. That would've been an awkward time, she would hate if someone could hear every single thing she was thinking. It'd be like a total invasion of privacy. Especially if she was like in love with the person or something. Ew, that'd suck.
"Well, if by exciting you mean possibly catching one student out and about and docking points, maybe a detention depending on how mean we're feeling, then it will be a thrilling time,"
she replied. If he thought that rounds would be exciting then he was dumb. You wandered the castle a bit, and then went back once finding nothing askew, besides maybe two hooligans snogging in a broom closet somewhere. This wasn't to say that Lily didn't like rounds, she did, even if they were a bit tedious sometimes. She loved talking to the people she wouldn't normally be able to talk to and sometimes she got Kabes so they'd have a wild time and run around the castle singing and dancing their hearts out and anyone with a mind would run back to their common rooms to avoid the screeching. Lily followed Sam out of the prefects corridor, well really any positions corner, but she liked to feel special. "So, where do you want to start. Bottom to top or top to bottom? I don't fancy walking up all those stairs right now, so I'd say bottom, but whatever you want," Boy was she agreeable. She really should've just demanded to go down to the bottom floor of the castle (then she'd sneak something from the kitchens on their way), and then they'd make their way up, and possibly, conveniently, end up in front of the Rouerie common rooms. She hadn't even thought of that. How sick would that be. She should go bottom to top from now on. Start with a snack then end up in front of her dorm. Perfect. It'd be incredible. Lily looked around the corridor for any stray students before they made it to the staircase. She looked at him for an answer, subtly pointing downstairs and lounging on the railing to go down. If Lily prided herself on anything, it was her ability to be extraordinary subtle. [/blockquote] words 524 tags the lovely sampson muse olly murs [/blockquote]

Slithering quietly through the hallowed Beauxbatons halls, Cupidon searched and searched for its first victim of the season. It had only just returned to the French school and was dying for a quick nibble on an unsuspecting student. It floated around this way and that, but to no avail. Every student she saw was just such a lost cause or too absorbed in their happy lovey-dovey romantic relationships. Save for a few having some troubles. It wanted something more of a challenge... perhaps something that would provide a little interest in the lives of some dull and drab students.
It was February after all... the month of love. Where were all the hearts and streamers? Chocolates and roses? Well, if this were valentine's day, the whole school would be the most depressing of the lot in the territory! Tsk, tsk thought the Cupidon bitterly as it flew towards the Forbidden Corridor, hoping to take a rest inside a broom cupboard. That was when it stopped cold, hearing some voices around the corner.
The two students... she knew the girl. The girl had been around for a while, and she was quite the sweetheart. The boy, however... he was a mystery. Didn't seem the nicest of sorts. Well, Cupidon could think of many ways to change this. Perhaps bite them both? Or only the girl... no, thought Cupidon, let's be original this time... Cackling, Cupidon turned invisible and wooshed around the corner. Creeping up, it bit the boy on the ankle and slipped over to the girl, poised at the ready, Cupidon decided against it, gleefully floating away to watch the show as the boy fell so readily in love with the lovely girl.

Ok, maybe she wouldn't be that bad. She was already talking about wanting to catch someone and end their hopes and dreams by putting them into detention. Sampson loved to catch people at night, giving them detention and on top of that, taking points away from their house. It was just pure joy, even if the rounds were a bit on the dull side. It meant that Sampson had to put up with other people. It was a shame that most people arrived on time to the meeting spot, otherwise Sam always went off by himself and let the other person fret that they had missed Sam. Sam liked to be alone and it was hard to do that during the day. Just last week he ditched his partner and went to get something to eat in which someone had still found him. It wasn't a prefect though. It was just a student that was out and about and it was a good thing that he could tolerate her and her whiny complaints about love and life. Ugh, that was always the worst. She seemed to like the honesty that he was throwing her way.
They began to walk and orange spoke up again to ask about where they should start. Sampson thought about it quickly. Well if they started at the top, he wouldn't have to go down a bunch of stairs. But if they started at the bottom, they could slowly tackle each staircase, one floor at a time. "Top to bottom. Going down all those flights of stairs will be easier than going up them all at once."
Sam told Lily whom he was going to refer to as Orange from now on. It'd be easier for him to remember since he was never good at remembering names. Even faces were a bit difficult for Sam. He couldn't call her red since he gave Tinley that name. Besides, Lily's hair was more orange than red anyways. So he began to head towards the stairs. Sampson was about to reach the stairs with Orange when he felt a pain in his ankle. "What the bloody..." Sampson murmured as he trailed off. He stopped in his tracks and could feel something inside him changing. There was this very pleasant feeling inside of him that was climbing up from his legs to his head. He could feel all his bitterness, anger, sarcasm and any other negative trait/feeling Sampson had go away. He slowly looked towards Lily and saw her in a new light. He quickly closed the space between them in seconds. "A woman with your beauty should never have to climb stairs!" Sampson said with such happiness he had never experienced or even shown. He whisked her off her feet bridal style. He was dangerously close to her, but kept walking up the stairs.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

"Top to bottom it is then," Lily said agreeably, even though she was pretty sure she'd die walking up all those stairs at the end to the Rouerie common room. Bloody Sournois', so lazy, he doesn't have to walk up all those dreadful stairs. Lily thought as they began their rounds. There is always a small percentage of having good conversation between prefects on rounds. There are so many variables in the equation that usually go wrong that most pairs end up either splitting off after a half hour or trying to be friendly and trying to survive two or a half more hours of awkward silence. Lily usually opted for the two and a half hours of awkward silence, which she tried to fill with chatter and questions and usually by the end they came out friends or at least didn't die from boredom. Tonight, she was feeling the first option. Sam didn't seem to be very happy about having her to walk with him and she suspected he'd pull a classic "gotta go to the toilet" and never show up. She wouldn't be too heartbroken over it.
Just as they rounded the corner to the stairwell, Sam clutched his ankle in pain, about to curse and Lily held onto his arm, hoping to keep him upright. Maybe he twisted something? She looked as his facial expression changed from in pain to, well, she wasn't quite sure what. And then he randomly scooped her up and told her that a girl like her shouldn't have to walk up stairs. Although this was a sudden change, it's not like Lily wanted to be walking up the stairs. She screamed a little as he picked her up, surprised at how easy he made it look. As he raced up the stairs with her, Lily contemplated this sudden change in his character. On the first flight of stairs, Lily thought that maybe this was his sense of humor and he was just trying to lighten the mood, which she appreciated and looked forward to a good time. By the end of the stairs, she didn't think that anyone would go through the effort to carry her up all those stairs just for a joke. Especially considering it was hard enough for her to climb them by herself.
By the time they reached the top, Lily hopped out of his arms and turned toward him, trying to read his expression. "Care to explain what that was all about? Now, I understand chivalry and all, but carrying me up a bajillion flights of stairs doesn't fall into that category. So, I appreciate not climbing the stairs, but why?"
Lily twisted a piece of her hair and bit her lip, a little worried about her outburst. She didn't want to seem ungrateful or mean or anything, but she really just did not understand this boy at all. First he was all stand-offy, then he seemed okay, then he picked her up. Boys are so confusing. [/blockquote] [/blockquote]

Sampson didn't care anymore about the pain that was in his ankle from some unknown cause. He wasn't about to look around or wave his arms to see if someone was hidden underneath an invisibility cloak or had charmed themselves invisible. At least, that's what the normal Sampson Abernathy would have done. But Sampson wasn't his normal self. He was acting quite like one of his triplet brothers: Desmond. Desmond was always so happy and everybody just adored Desmond because he was such a puppy dog. Sampson was quite the opposite. Just not in this moment unfortunately.
Sam wasn't even phased by her moment of surprise. All he wanted to do was give her an effortless life and right now that meant not exerting herself while walking up all those steps. Steps made people breathe heavy, even if they were perfectly in shape. Sampson couldn't have Lily be out of breath! So Sampson was off to climb all the way to the top with Lily in his arms. Sampson didn't even feel out of breath ( he was, but he didn't comprehend it with feeling way too happy ).
After Lily was on her feet again, Sampson could feel his blood pumping, but he figured it was because he was in the presence of the most beautiful person in the entire world. He didn't think it was because he had just climbed all seven flights of stairs with a woman in his arms that added extra weight. He was so incredibly happy that his brain seemed to want to forget any sort of logic Sampson once possessed. He was confused though. She wasn't pleased with his gesture? She was...but she wasn't? Even with Sampson flowing with good emotions, he was still confused as ever when it came to women. "I just, I just got this overwhleming urge to do something nice. After all, you are quite the pretty sight. I couldn't pass up getting closer!" Sampson told her with a small shrug and gave her his sweetest smile, something that was incredibly rare since Sampson hardly ever smiled out of pure happiness. This was a rare sight for Miss Lily James. Taking advantage of Sampson's niceness was probably the best one could do before he turned into a sourpuss at midnight. He went to grab her hands and spun her in a circle. "Shall we begin these rounds? The sooner we finish the more time we'll have for...other things." Sampson said with a wink as he linked arms with her.

Sampson was panting by the time they made it up to the top, but he looked as though he had never been happier. Maybe the kid just really liked exercise? That was unlikely. Stairs were always a dreaded piece of daily life. Sometimes, Lily thought that the long staircases were the only things keeping her in decent shape. Though she did go running occasionally. Major stress on that occasionally. It was so hard to get motivated for running. That's probably why Lily hated (well, not hated but strongly disliked based on jealously) people who liked to work out or go for runs and the like. How the hell was that fun? There was almost so much she could force herself to do, and running is just not one of them. Running also brings out the worst in her and her negative side. It's so hard to be positive when your legs hurt and you have a cramp and you can't breath and you've only run a quarter of a mile (what? don't hate on her endurance). When she sees people happily running and breathing easily, she just wants to hex them. Like why wasn't she made good at running. Her mother had seriously wronged her.
I should probably work out soon. Maybe tomorrow. Tomorrow would be good. She had less classes also known as less homework also known as less time spent during the day moping around the library. She should really get outside, it was starting to get nice and maybe her skin might lose some of it's transparent glow that she always had. Perks of being a British ginger. Definitely a winning duo for the skin department. Lily can't remember ever being tan, except for this one time when she was like eight and had gotten really sunburned when her family was vacationing in Ibiza. Who ever thought that was a good idea for an eight year old? Her mom just liked to party.
"Oh, well um. Thank you for that nice ride up here. Very kind of you..."
Lily let out awkwardly. "Getting closer"?? Lily was sure he had hated her two minutes ago. This was so confusing and like WHAT. In what world would this happen? No way was she going to just randomly hook up with this guy who carried her up the stairs so that he could be closer to her. Like that's a weird thing to express. Probably should have just left it at her being pretty. Flattery will get you everywhere. "Yup, that sounds perfect. Let's begin." Lily almost choked when she saw his wink. Ew, gross. Like what is this? Who is this kid? He linked arms with her and set off. Lily let him take her arm, it's not like that was really that bad, plus he looked pleased with himself so that was okay. They wandered around, not really seeing any signs of life. That's what was so weird about doing rounds. During the day there's always noise and people running around, but at night, barely any noise besides the swoosh of the ghosts moving about, which was eery, so it was nice to have a partner.
