[atrb=border, 0, true][atrb=style, line-height:80%;][atrb=style, width:350px; padding:10px; background:#ffffff;] IT'S GETTING LATE, MAKING MY WAY OVER TO MY FAVOURITE PLACE Kabriel ran a hand over her grey wool coat and smiled as she walked across the dewey grass. It was late into the morning (she never woke up during the irritating beep! beep! beep! of her alarm) but there seemed to still be a mist about the grounds. Students were spending their day indoors, but Kabes decided to take a walk into the mystical world known as her home. She hugged her arms around herself, keeping as warm as possible, as she made for her journey. It was farther than most, the Quidditch Pitch, and it took her a good fifteen minutes to arrive. When she entered the dark, wooden archway, she couldn't help but gasp, feeling overwhelmed as she stood inside the stadium. She was only at one end of the pitch, and everything looked so big and daunting to her. She turned her head slightly and found herself staring up at the three golden hoops, each more extravagant than the last. Beaming up at them, she couldn't help but wonder what it was like to fly up there, not that she had the desire. She cocked her head and thought of herself on a broom, shaking from side to side, and not being able to think about flying straight - let alone trying to catch the Quaffle from the enemy! She shuddered at the thought and began to walk around the perimitre of the pitch until she came across some small wooden steps that led to the first level. She placed her hand gently on the wooden railing and took one step at a time. Each stair creaked as though it hadn't been touched in a hundred years. She smiled when she reached the top and turned to face the field again. It was magnificent, she decided as she took a step on the first bench she could find. She opened her satchel and found a little peanut butter and jelly sandwhich in there. She pulled it out and took a small bite, enjoying the magical view of the Quidditch pitch while eating the average muggle snack. It all felt so surreal, she decided. Her brothers used to always play Quidditch, but Alex was the only one to go beyond his boundaries and really take it on as a career. Luckily for him, he managed to get on a (rather small, but average) team. He played with them for a year and a half before suffering a sprain in his ankle and decided to quit while he was ahead. She crossed her legs, plainfully thinking about what could have been. Was there a chance Alex would have gotten good enough to play one on of the famous Quidditch teams? Who knows, now? Kabes felt bad for her brother, who must be hurting every day while he worked at Beauxbatons. She had no idea why he had come here. Was he told to come and work at Beauxbatons to keep an eye on Kabriel and the rest of the family? Or was he just here because he genuinely thought that teaching was a better option than just going off and getting a job with the Ministry or other magical industries like the rest of her brothers. Surprisingly enough, each and every one of them chose to stay within the wizarding world while her father was the only one who ventured out of it - he owned a little shop in the small town where Kabriel grew up, and even though it wasn't successful, the family lived mostly off the small farm and the milk they sold to the neighbors. Not the French dream for most, but it made the Lilly's happy. Kabriel polished off her sandwhich, cheerfully licking her fingers for good measure. She pulled out a thermos and twisted off the top. The sweet aroma of hot cocoa wafted in the air before her, it was like she could see the curls and brushes of hot, chocolatey air that danced around the girl like wind. She closed her eyes and took in its heavenly scent. She took a sip and spotted a small, black dot flying from the castle towards the stadium. She followed it with her eyes as the hot chocolately liquid flowed in her insides, warming her up all over. When it got close enough, she saw that it was her owl - Lysander. She smiled and waved him over. With a soft hoot, the owl landed beside her and pecked its beak at her fingers, inviting her to pet him. She gladly obliged, giggling as she did so, "Were you getting lonely, Mr. I hunt rats all night and ignore you all day?" she teased him, offering him a sip of her hot chocolate. The owl smartly declined and Kabes rummaged through her bag for the little handfull of owl treats she kept handy. "Here, I know what you're up to. You want me to forgive you for abandoning me for a week," she jokingly teased the creature, tearing off a piece of the treat and handing it to him openly in her palm. He gleefully took it in his beak and seemed to inhale it as it disappeared within nanoseconds. "You pig." she laughed loudly as she handed him the rest of it. Her laughter rang throughout the stadium, bright and happy, as though spring were already upon her and her Beauxbatons classmates.

Andy sat with his head between his knees in his dormitory. Andy had never thought it was really on the small side when he had to share it with four other people, but today was one of those days that Andy couldn't stand being in the room he slept in. This was the room Andy always could fall back on when he didn't want to migrate to the library or an empty classroom. All he had to do was pull back the curtains of his four-poster bed and be hidden from the rest of his peers. The small enclosed space wasn't doing it for him though. Andy had never been claustrophobic, but he did get anxiety attacks and those were always difficult to handle when he was in small space. He needed to get outside to control himself. His chest rose and fell in a quickened pace as he grabbed a coat, scarf, mittens and a hat. Andy wasn't used to the cold weather of France. He had been spoiled by the beautiful weather in Greece and he never went outside without bundling up way more than he probably needed to. He knew his teeth would immediately start to chatter, but the wide open space was going to make him feel better, he told himself.
As soon as he was all bundled up, Andy left silently like always and pattered down the staircase with one hand on the wall to steady himself. His short breaths could make him dizzy and Andy could already feel that coming on. The faster he got outside, the better. It didn't help that he had to go down a bunch of other stairs as well. Andy had paused for a few seconds as he looked down to the ground floor and groaned. It looked like so many stairs and it was. It took Andy a bit to get used to the infinite amount of stairs that he had to climb. No wonder Otis looked like he gained muscle after coming back from here. Andy didn't have the typical farmer build because Andy never did any of that farming work. His parents had tried to get him to do things, but when they found out he couldn't do much physical work, they sort of let him be. His twin sisters and his mother didn't feel the need to break up their housework since it was already fairly easy, so Andy was left to do whatever he wanted. It was in that moment that Andy had discovered books and yearned for the outside world. Andy tried taking a deep breath, but his chest felt constricted. He felt a bit better after leaving the Rouerie common room, but he still had that tight feeling in his body and his hands shook. It couldn't be homesickness. Andy hadn't been happier to be here and it was such a nice break from his family. Sure he loved them, but his parents were so closed-minded and his sisters had their girl talk which was obnoxious to Andy. Perhaps if his brothers had been around, Andy wouldn't have minded his family. Andy was always on his own and he learned that he could only rely upon himself for things.
Finally down all the stairs, Andy had pushed through the doors that lead to the outside world and Andy closed his eyes. Fresh air: it felt so grand. Andy began to take deep breaths to control his breathing once again. The air he inhaled through his nose had froze his nose hairs and when he exhaled through his mouth, he could see his breath. It took a bit for Andy to calm down. This was the fifth anxiety attack he's had since arriving at Beauxbatons. The first three occurred on the first three days he was here. That had been horrifying. A sense of helplessness washed over him the first day as he realized how large the castle was. His first worry was that he'd get lost. His second one came the next day and that came about because he had to sit next to people who expected him to not be a mute. This worried Andy mostly because he knew he couldn't speak fluently. He'd end up making a fool of himself. The third attack came after the second obviously and that came up because he realized he'd have to be in a living space with four other teenage boys. Nothing was private and Andy knew that they'd see all the weird and awkward things Andy did. He already got stares for having a conversation with himself and got a pity look when he couldn't get out what was on his mind. If there was one thing that Andy hated the most was pity. Andy didn't need people telling him that his life wasn't up to par. He knew that. He accepted it.
Andy began to walk once he gained control of himself and decided that today was the day he'd venture beyond the courtyard. Change was a scary thing Andy had decided. One could get lost and meet strange people. He knew Beauxbatons was perfectly safe and wasn't he trying to get a fresh start here? It was so hard trying to 'start over' when he created so many social habits. Habits were easy to create yet hard to break. Where he was now though, Andy guessed it was where they played Quidditch. Like hell Andy would ever attend one of those games, yet he was curious to what the delight of standing in a crowd cheering for their team would look like. Nobody would be in there since he hadn't seen anybody flying in the air. He should be perfectly fine, right? When he walked through the entrance, he felt like an ant. The place was massive, but Andy had found stairs that he assumed led to the bleachers where the audience would sit. He sighed as he was met with many more stairs. He'd definitely have lower body strength by the end of his school career, that was definite. Once emerging from the staircase to the bleachers, Andy walked towards the benches to go to the top of the stadium seating. About three steps up, he saw a girl. He froze briefly before quickly turned around to burst out of there. Unfortunately, Andy slipped on the steps and landed on his butt. A noise escaped his mouth as he made contact with the hard surface. He didn't even bother to cover his mouth or try again. It was official: Andy hated the cold weather.
notes; oh man i'm gonna love andy so much

[atrb=border, 0, true][atrb=style, line-height:80%;][atrb=style, width:350px; padding:10px; background:#ffffff;] IT'S GETTING LATE, MAKING MY WAY OVER TO MY FAVOURITE PLACE The Cossu swung her legs back and forth on the bench as she chewed her delicious food to bits. She smacked her lips together and licked the tips of her fingers, a satisfied gesture. She hadn't had a simple peanut butter and jelly sandwich in what felt like years... everything had been delicious meals and gourmet appetizers now that she lived at Beauxbatons. Little things like sandwiches made her miss being at home, made her miss her family and the people. It was all so sad sounding, now that she thought about it... but there wasn't much to do now was there? Home was kind of far away... and she certainly wasn't going to fly all the way there with her lack of flying skills. The flying gene must have skipped her in the birth of the Lilly clan. Kabes, being the only girl besides her mom, must have been the only one to not be able to fly. It was upsetting, she decided, but one would have to grin and bear it. She tucked everything away in her bag and placed it on the ground beside the seats and she lay back on them. She propped her legs up and rested her hands behind her head, staring at the clouds. Thank goodness it wasn't a very sunny day because then she'd be going blind!
She smiled as she watched some of the clouds pass her by and licked her lips when they dried up. She was happy to have some time to herself, imagining a sword fight between a walrus and a tricycle. It was all very surreal, she decided. As though the clouds were, themselves, on drugs or something. She laughed out loud at the idea, feeling silly for suggesting such a preposterous thing. She blew some of her bangs out of her eyes and propped herself up on her forearms when she heard some breathing and footsteps approaching. Surely she'd be alone at the Quidditch pitch? She didn't know anyone else who'd come by on a rather grey day. She lifted her chin a little to see who it could possibly be. She spotted some dark brown hair and furrowed her brow in confusion a little as it disappeared shortly after as the person made it so she couldn't see him at all. Kabes made a frustrated puffy face with her cheeks and lay back down, keeping her peripherals on the stairs. It took a few extra moments, but when she heard some steps being taken, she got back up again and was about to greet the stranger until she heard an 'OOF' and a fall. Kabes rushed to the side of the stands and stared down at Andy's face and giggled. "OH, ANDY! It's you! You had me worried you were... well... no, not worried." Kabes puffed out her cheeks again as she thought, "... more like... confused? I was very confused at who on earth would be coming outside!" She nodded, as though she was now satisfied with the way the sentence turned out.
Kabes quickly hopped over to help him up, extending her hand and using all of her strength (or lack, thereof), to pull him up. It didn't go too well, she lost her footing at the last minute, and just as he was standing up again, she fell over into him. Thank goodness he was a little sturdier than herself or else she would have fallen all the way down the stairs. "I think I could have died if it weren't for you." Kabes said, matter-of-factly. "You saved my life." she added, happily. Her face lit up once again at realizing that it was Chrysander. She hadn't seen him in a while, and she hadn't seen her brother either. Ever since she had left Beauxbatons, she couldn't help but wonder what he was up to! Something exciting, no doubt. Knowing Otis, he would be off changing the wizarding world - one pompous old man at a time. She grabbed Andy's hand and pulled him over to the stands, where she sat beside him and turned to face him, crossing her legs like a girl on a carpet. "So, how've you beeeeeeen?" she asked him eagerly, her bright green eyes happy and pleased at such good company. The last time she had felt this eager to hear about someone's life... well, it had been happening a lot recently. And even though her and Andy were from the same house, it still felt like they saw each other almost daily... but never really saw each other. Not quite in the Avatar-seeing way, but the wanting-to-see-you-and-know-you-even-better kind of way! Kabes' favourite.
"Oooh! And Otis? Is he a superhero, yet?" she quickly piped up excitedly. Again, she had always had this vision as Otis being a crazy god-like person who'd do crazy, awesome, world-changing things. She knew her brothers were off doing some stuff, but most of it was small... or at least, small in terms of the world, but huge for them. Kabes most admired Lorcean for having the guts to start a band with his mates and follow through on it. She was sure they were off on some tour in Asia at this point, although she didn't keep track. She was hoping they'd come perform around here around some point, though. It was always exciting seeing her semi-famous wizarding rock star brother (not that she didn't also love her other brothers to a million pieces and back around the universe).

Drats. He was hoping that his brief clumsiness would go unnoticed by the other person that occupied the stadium seating. Unfortunately, Andy wasn't quiet about it and heard the person rushing over to him. Wincing, Andy wasn't going to like what was going to come next. Someone was going to stand over him and point at him while laughing hysterically because he was such a clumsy little boy. Andy knew it was just because he wasn't used to the actual season of winter. Winter at hom meant that it got to was the mid-forties. Greece didn't get any snow which was much different than here where it did get snow. Snow was a strange concept to Andy and he wasn't used to ice being on the ground. He wasn't even sure why he wanted to come back here. He had only lived in France for about three months before he and his family moved back to Greece where he father found better land to farm on for a much better price. It was on an island now instead of the mainland which Andy was still on the fence about. Being on the mainland meant he could go where ever he want and meet people that he had never met before. Being on an island was secluded and were forced to interact with the same people you entire life. It sounded like a trap for Andy to be in since he never gave very good first impressions to anybody.
Here was slightly different since most people he had come into contact with with Otis for most of their lives here at Beauxbatons. He never considered himself to look much like Otis, but the last name stood out to people. As much as Andy didn't want to think that, he knew that they had the same noses, thick eyebrows and eye shape. It was hard not to notice that Andy was related to the famous Otis Barberis. His brother always got more attention because he was more motivated to help people and was a Seer. That automatically made Otis special because he had a unique gift. Well with his parents religion, Otis was basically a descendent of Apollo then since Apollo had the gift of seeing the future. Not that any of his siblings really took that seriously. Andy and the rest of his siblings didn't believe in all those gods. They just thought of them as stories.
The other person that had been there turned out to be Kabriel Lilly. She had known Otis very well apparently. When they had first met, he was greeted with such enthusiasm and it was a bit odd at first. Andy knew he needed to get used to such big personalities such as Kabriel's, but it scared him slightly with how friendly she was to him without really knowing him. His last name had given him away though and Andy was mentally preparing himself for more people to come up to him and ask him how Otis was doing. Andy never really knew that answer since Otis hadn't written any letters while he was away at his internship in England. Otis had another six months left of his internship and wondered if he'd come back. Andy wouldn't really mind since Otis was a nice bloke. Andy just didn't like being in the shadows of anybody. It was a contradiction since Andy hated the center of attention or just coming in contact with anybody. He knew he'd never be an Otis or even an Atlas, but Andy wanted to at least overcome his social anxiety.
Andy just kept his eyes wide as she began to talk on forever. He didn't even try to sit himself up. He lay there in a frightened state. It was just Kabriel, he told himself. She was just here to help him out. You don't have to get all worked up just because she's a girl. He gladly accepted her help and took her hand. The next part Andy wasn't even sure what went wrong. One minute she was helping him up and the next minute she was on top of him. Andy went rigid with the sudden physical contact. Stay cool, Andy. She's not coming onto you! No words came out still and she didn't seem to mind. Kabriel went on talking as if he had replied. It was perfectly fine with Andy since he knew nothing would come out or he'd stutter uncontrollably. But then he had to actually reply. His mouth opened and closed a few times before he swallowed and finally got some words to come out of his mouth. "I, um, well-er...cold." was all that he could manage out.
Just as he predicted, she brought up the subject of Otis. Andy didn't need to be a Seer to see that one coming. Andy at least knew he wouldn't stumble over his words. Talking about his family was easy since he'd known them all fifteen years of his life. Andy just smiled sheepishly as he imagined Otis in a superhero outfit. "No...not y-yet. He's uh, in England f-for an internship." Andy told her, crushing her dreams of visualizing Otis as a superhero.

[atrb=border, 0, true][atrb=style, line-height:80%;][atrb=style, width:350px; padding:10px; background:#ffffff;] IT'S GETTING LATE, MAKING MY WAY OVER TO MY FAVOURITE PLACE Kabes hoisted herself off of Andy's limp body and offered her hand for assistance. She helped him sit up and the two sort of sat there a moment. She dusted off her sweater for any leaves or pieces of dirt and smiled. "Cold isn't good. You should probably get a coat," she giggled, standing up and brushing off her legs and skirt. She offered Andy a hand as well. She didn't know Andy nearly as well as she knew Otis, but she knew that the two would get along brilliantly. It was just how things were of course. Her and the Barberis clan were pretty friendly with one another - all very chummy, she liked to think. Andy was definitely the quietest of the bunch, she knew, and she always did her best to make him feel at ease. He was just so adorable and he was her age, so it was nice to have someone like that. Otis was older than her by a year or two, so it was always good to have someone who she could talk to when it came to the perils of being a fifteen year old. The girl was just happy to be around someone whom she hadn't seen in so long! She glanced up at the sky as Andy did what he did to get comfortably to his feet, and she squinted as the sun began to appear from behind a cloud. She nodded happily, "Looks like it'll be prime picnic weather soon! Wanna have some lunch?" she asked Andy curiously, grabbing his hand and dragging him over to the stands where she sat.
She sat down again comfortably and pulled out the second half of her peanut butter and jelly sandwich, "Do you want half?" she offered him brightly, beaming as the sun began to appear from behind the clouds. Kabes lived for the days that started off a little more glum and then opened up to become this bright, happy day where only good thoughts were floating in the air and there was this golden aura of awesomeness everywhere she looked. This was turning out to be one of those days, she thought, especially after running into Chrysander so unexpectedly, she was hoping that the rest of the day would turn out just as awesome. Maybe she could spend it with Andy just catching up. She hadn't done that in a while, and she was sure Andy may want someone to talk to who wasn't family but who was also from Beauxbatons. She adored him so much, and he was just such a great friend to her. Well, when they were around one another. Seeing as they weren't in the same house, it made it a little harder to communicate with one another, but she still managed to spot him in the halls, zooming off to his next class without a second glance. The few times that she actually ran into him, he would smile and run off. Kabes kind of wished she had a class with him or other first years since most of her friends were in first year. For whatever reason (or a fluke, she assumed) she had managed to whizz forward and was already a fourth year. It was a little crazy, she decided, since she could remember the days when she was a measly first year who wanted nothing more than to make lots of friends.
"Oh, well that sounds awesome," she smiled at the mention of Otis. She was sure he was back by now though, and of course Andy knew it too probably. But she didn't push the matter any more. "How long have you been at Beauxbatons? D'you like it yet?" she laughed, beaming at Andy as she took a bite of her sandwich. There was something comforting about a peanut butter and jelly sandwich - it reminded her of home and simple things... simple pleasures in life that were often overlooked, she knew. She savoured the bite of the bread and the sweet taste of the jam. She glanced over at Andy and quickly realized she was missing drinks! Two butterbeer's coming right up! She waved her wand and performed a quick, wandless spell that wasn't too difficult. She was working on mastering it for her charms class, but wasn't too good at it. Hopefully the bottles would arrive in one piece. Before she knew it, she heard something whizzing towards her and Andy quickly. She saw them approaching from one end of the pitch and she quickly gasped, closing her eyes really tightly and shielding her face. She was startled at the speed with which they were approaching, but when they finally reached the pair, they stopped in front of her and landed softly with a little tap on the seats between them. She peaked through her fingers and let out a loud laugh.
"Oh my god, I was so scared we were going to die. Weren't you?" she giggled, reaching over for the nearest one and twisting it open. She took a long sip before smacking her lips together as she screwed the top back on, "That one's yours." she added quickly, knowing that Andy was sometimes too polite to just take without asking, "I was hoping we could turn this into a full blown affair! D'you know how to play Quidditch? Can you fly? I'm terrible at flying, but if you want to, we could just pass the Quaffle back and forth?" she asked him curiously, her eyes lit up with bliss.
