YOU BETTER RUN FOR YOUR LIFE
[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 355px;]— He'd barely been in his new home a few hours and already Levi had found his way down into the dungeons. The atmosphere welcomed him with open arms however; he could get used to it quite easily. By coincidence he'd also found his common room though he figured it would've surfaced at some point in his trek around the deepest parts of the castle. So far things had been alright; he'd been sorted quickly and had yet to run into anyone. He supposed most people would be out enjoying the first bit of warm weather in a while and normally he'd be up there with them, hiding out in a corner somewhere. But for now he was content with being on his own; it was so much different than what he was used to. Having class with actual students, being able to walk where he wanted without small children trailing behind him. It was weird but he was starting to get used to it. In fact he was sure he was grow to like it more as the days went by.
Running a hand through his black hair Levi let out a sigh. He wondered what his family was up to. No doubt having their usual "quiet study time." His mother was big on private tutors and usually found the strictest ones. There was something else he wouldn't be missing this term. Hanging his head, he smirked at the image of them all unhappily sitting in their rooms, reading about some boring philosopher. Minutes passed and he found himself about to enter the catacombs. Levi enjoyed many things, but creepy ass underground cemeteries were not one of those things, nor would they be. Turning on the heels of his shoes he walked in the other direction, this time taking a left instead of going straight on.
His footsteps echoed loudly against the walls as he explored all he could. For once his mind was blank, and strangely he found himself growing bored. Taking that as a signal that it was time to mingle with the rest of his school above ground he made his way towards the large stone staircase, taking each step in slow, calculated strides. Just as he was halfway up the stairs he came face to face with a tall figure and they proceeded to do the awkward who-goes-where dance. Out of exasperation Levi planted his hands on the shoulder of the person and moved them aside. "If you'll please excuse me, I'll just move you out of my way." he muttered darkly. Letting go he took the last step and turned around. "Thank you." Were his final words, tone dripping with his signature sarcasm. With a small bow and a tight smirk he left them standing in their spot as he went on. |

Coming back hadn’t been nearly as hard as she had been making it out to be, finding her place among her friends being relatively easy. She had assumed that her disappearance might bring about more questioning, but no one seemed to have the slightest notion of concern when they realized she was here again and this time to stay. A small smile graced her lips for the first time in a long time. It was finally dawning on her, now that she was back things were going to be okay. It didn’t matter what she had lost, things were bound to turn around for her eventually and now they finally were. All her troubles were behind her.
Her only real concern at this moment was the parchment scroll which she owed the potions professor. She had been late in coming back and in order to enroll in the class she had been assigned some writing. She’d procrastinated as long as she could, but time had come that she should be getting it to the professor. Checking the gold watch which lay among other gold and bronze bands she pulled on a pair of nude heels, the perfect match to her accessories. If she didn’t leave now she’d surely be running late, and running late was not a habit of hers. Grabbing the scroll and her wand she was quickly out the door, not bothering to clean the clothes she’d left scattered across her floor.
Her golden curls bounced eloquently on her shoulder with every step she took, gleaming brilliantly in the sunlight. It was a shame that she had to find her way down into the dungeons when the outside world seemed much more appealing. She had never been a fan of the darkness which made its home of the dungeons. She’d been positively terrified to set foot in the place after a nasty encounter with a boggart her freshman year. She’d been alone and without a wand, a mistake she’d never made again. She was still pleasantly thankful for her dark arts professor at the time, who had helped her shave by unharmed. Thinking back on it she couldn’t say as though she was delighted to be meandering through the dungeons trying to find a classroom she’d never been to.
It seemed that no sooner had the door shut behind her that her senses were flooded with immense darkness. Her eyes had barely adjusted when she’d met an individual along the stairs, both stepping side to side trying to avoid each other’s paths. She sighed softly as the awkward dance continued before finally the figure finally placed their hands on her shoulders moving her effortlessly to the side. A voice soon met her ears and she’d been right to assume the firm grasp had belonged to a male. If you'll please excuse me, I'll just move you out of my way. It wasn’t a voice she assumed to recognize, but in a matter of seconds he’d murmured a thank you dripping with sarcasm before again starting on his way.
Wait.. She stammered awkwardly, the tip of her wand lighting the darkness which still surrounded them both. She wasn’t met with a face but rather the back of a tall lean figure with striking black hair. I’m sure you’ve something better to do, but I’d really appreciate it if you could help me find the potions classroom. She smiled slyly, waiting for the boys response.

YOU BETTER RUN FOR YOUR LIFE
[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 355px;]— He should have turned around and gave her swift directions. Key word being should . Turning to face the owner of the voice he was met with a more than pretty sight. It would be a shame for him to just let her go, perhaps she got lost? The girl was clearly unused to being in this place; which was odd for her was sure she must have been at the school longer than he had been. He'd only arrived a few hours ago after all. "It would be my pleasure." he finally said, taking out his own wand, muttering the proper spell in order to illuminate the tip. "The dungeons, I've found, can be quite confusing for those who aren't used to them. Good thing I have an advantage on things like this."
He allowed her to step ahead of him but soon fell beside her as they walked. Levi was never one to talk, not even in the presence of a lady. They walked on in silence before he figured he should introduce himself. "Well, my name is Levi...Ashford. And who do I have the pleasure of walking with this evening?" he asked, his tone smooth and soft. If there was one thing that he was good at, besides school, it was talking to people without sounding like a slimy creep. Levi prided himself on his conversation skills.
They walked in silence even more but from his end he didn't find it awkward in the least. He preferred it this way. They honestly had no business with each other besides having to walk towards the potions room. He'd passed by it a few times on his walk through the area and pretty much had it's location memorized. In fact, it wasn't long before they were finally in front of said place. "I believe this is where we part ways." He gave her a small smirk, bowed and after muttering a goodbye, strode off. He guessed the more gentlemanly move would have been to stay and help her find her way back but with the pace he moved at, he was sure she'd catch up to him before he'd even reached the first step of the winding stairs. |

It was as though everything else were entrenched in shadows and this boy her only illumination. Her mouth lilted, a gentle smile painted on her features as he stopped mid step, turning again to face her. The firm grasp he’d employed on her slight form only moments ago had led her to believe that this dark suitor whoever he was had certainly been self –assured. Seeing him now for the first time, she was sure that she’d been right. Asahria stood silently, her eyes tracing the dark outlines of his face – his very attractive face as she waited for his response. ”It would be my pleasure.” Like a stunned schoolgirl she merely nodded, her lips closed tight as he continued on allowing herself to take the first step - her nude heels uncomfortably loud in the enclosed space.
”Well then, I must be thankful for your advantage…” She finally managed, stopping short of a name which she didn’t have. As they’d walked, he’d taken a place beside her, rather than behind. It made her feel more comfortable having him close to her side, even if he were a stranger. He was likely less harmful than anything else she was likely to come across in the dark maze. Also in close proximity she was able to get a better look at him. He was tall in stature and had striking dark hair, it was a wonder that she’d never come across him before, a pity even. She watched him from the corner of her eye, if only to better gauge him as they traipsed in silence through the dungeons. Finally he broke the silence, offering his name and she was amazed at the cool collected manner in which he spoke to her.
If this is what you could call pleasurable. She laughed, her voice gentle and teasing. ”I’m Asahria Ryek. I must say, I’m surprised to have never encountered you before, Levi.” She liked the way his name slipped so eloquently off her tongue. It seemed easy, yet all at once regal. Again, she remained silent. Not that she could say, but he seemed the noble silent type. It seemed a perfect match to her assertive appearance. Comforted in their silence Asahria was surprised when he came to a sudden stop. "I believe this is where we part ways." Then suddenly with a smirk and a bow he was gone. Asharia stood there momentarily stunned, unsure of whether she was disappointed or not.
Running her fingers through her hair as she stepped inside the classroom, she decided she was. Glancing around quickly to see if the professor were anywhere near she quickly decided he wasn’t. She’d just leave the parchment on the desk, hopefully that would do. Stepping back into the dimly lit hall she frowned slightly, Levi already having gained enough distance to be out of her line of vision. A spark of eagerness swelled inside her when she realized she could still hear footsteps against the cold, stone floor. Quickening her step she followed the path the two of them had only just taken, most of it in silence. As soon as the light from the tip of his wand was once more in view she called out again. Levi, wait. He had stopped the first time, she didn’t see any reason he wouldn’t again. I’m not sure I’m ready to part ways quite yet, after all I’m sure this was hardly pleasurable for either of us. She said, a coy smile playing on her lips as she stepped up beside him. Of course his presence had been pleasurable, but being dismissed so quickly hardly gave either of them a chance.

YOU BETTER RUN FOR YOUR LIFE
[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 355px;]— "Ah, well that must be because I've only just arrived to this school. Otherwise I'm sure I would have introduced myself upon our first meeting." She was fairly pretty, beautiful really. Her hair hung in curls and she dressed nicely, like most girls with a fashion sense did. She was much shorter than he as he found himself looking down at her with ease. Her name was unlike anything he'd heard before and while it would take some getting used to it he liked it. It seemed his stay wouldn't be so bad after all. As he expected, she followed him and found him quickly, calling out his name. He slowed down considerably but did not stop his motions for a bit longer. When his steps finally ceased and she went on, he turned to face her. His smirk never faded as she expressed her desire to not rid herself of his company and he nodded. "I must agree. I only figured that a girl such as yourself would have other places to be. I would not dream of keeping you from any other plans," He said, flicking his wand to make the light shine a little brighter. "If you insist however, I see no harm in us walking a while longer together. I suppose it'll give us more time to get to know one another."
He extended his arm before the started their walk again. "So, Asahria, have you been here long?" He asked, extended his arms in reference to the castle, "Are you from France originally?" He could tell they did not share a house otherwise she would have easily known the dungeons better than he. He didn't suspect that she was the type to pretend to not know where anything was. No, she must be from another house; and the way she carried herself told him that she was no stranger to the castle but was unfamiliar with it's surroundings— like someone who had been away for a while. She also carried something else with her, and he knew instinctively what it was, having experienced it himself, but he was smart enough to not say anything. They'd barely learned each others name so to bring up such a matter was be most inappropriate. Silence began to surround them but was soon disturbed as the sound of her shoes echoed around them. He didn't say anything for some time, not wanting to disturb the strange beat everything made around them but he wondered if she was growing uncomfortable with all the silence. "If you don't mind my asking, what was the business you had to attend to here in the dungeons? I don't take you for the type to enjoy a walk underneath the school."
She seemed too sweet to belong down here, not in a bad way though. More like, she didn't fit among the gloomy darkness of the place. Her clothes and attitude exuded confidence and a sense of brightness that clashed with the atmosphere the area gave off. Her smile was infectious and her charm shined bright than either of their wands. Levi smirked, his mother was probably right: he was a silent romantic at heart. This reminded him of his next question, "It seems, from what I've been told, that almost everyone has a relative at the school. Am I right or wrong in guessing that you do as well?"
They finally ascended the last bit of stairs and stepped into sunshine, their wands light extinguishing in the brightness. They walked along the corridors, cold wind howling against the clear glass windows. People he did not know passed by them, greeting only her but Levi did not mind. He wouldn't say hello to any stranger either no matter who they were with. Out of the corner of his eye he watched his blonde companion, wondering what else he would learn about her. They didn't stray too far from the entrance of the dungeons, picking a large window that offered them an outstanding view of the lake. No wonder his mother had raved about the school so much, it had quiet the view no matter where you were. |

It had been a simple reaction and not one she’d meant to voice, but somehow the word had escaped her soft lips. Though she couldn’t recall having seen him around it hadn’t occurred to her that he might be new to Beauxbatons. She had assumed that cool demeanor and easy direction could only mean that he’d been a student here for some time. I’m glad to know that you wouldn’t have let me be just another passerby. Raising an eyebrow, she kept close, listening to the echo of their footsteps behind them, fading into some distant dark place. It seemed almost an eternity before he finally stopped again, turning to meet her gaze. She had to stop herself from sighing in relief, she’d never been one much for the chase, in fact she wasn’t entirely sure she even knew how to play that game. Charlton and herself had somehow stumbled into each other’s laps, time and time again. Asahria had been worried for a moment, if only a fraction of one, that Levi might deny her company. It was gratifying that he thought she might have somewhere to be.
A girl such as myself… She asked, head titling slightly to the side as she held back a smile. And might I ask, Levi, what sort of plans should a girl such as myself have? He’d likely have a more honest answer than herself at this point, but it wasn’t really the facts she was playing at. There had been a time, back before her absence where he might have been right in his assumptions, but now Asahria didn’t really have any priorities. She’d lost all of those around the same time she’d lost Charlton. Perhaps you should let your dreams rest aside. You seem much more flattering company than anything I have at hand. She spoke sweetly, it wasn’t untrue. So I must insist.
I’ve gone to this school for some time yes, but I have been absent for most of the last year. She didn’t continue, but rather kept her answer short and succinct. Family issues were not something she would bring up easily, there were very few whom she’d trusted enough to speak of them. That and she’d rather not bring the litigations of her absence into the light. She’d failed to tell anyone why she’d gone, even Charlton and she’d left him when he’d needed her most. Deciding to force her thoughts aside she decided to continue by answering his next question, for one who had been so silent only moments ago, he seemed curiously intrigued. I did grow up in France actually, though my family travels often. Not that she traveled often, if had seemed that in the majority of cases she’d been left to find her own way around. She’d always been thankful for her friends over break, lest it mean a vacation stuck here at Beauxbatons.
I was late in enrolling for classes. I was submitting a proposal for late admission. She added nonchalantly, smiling as he added that he didn’t believe her the type to be walking around underground. You would be right. I tend to avoid the dungeons. I had a rather nasty scare down here my first year. Hadn’t been all too aware of what a boggart was. She said shying, Asahria was sure there was a rose tint budding on her cheeks. I’m from a muggle family. She explained, hoping it would clear some of her confusion at the term. Anyways, some handsome lad came to my rescue and I have ventured down here alone since. She was sure that Levi would have a laugh at her incident, or even for admitting to her fear of traveling the dungeons alone. It made her feel vulnerable that he would now know that she was comforted by his mere presence. You’d be wrong in those assumptions. It’s only me. She trailed off. She couldn’t say as though she was disappointed, she rather lied the distance from her family. Beauxbatons had become the only place she felt she belonged.
She did allow herself to breathe more easily as Levi opened the door and they welcomed themselves into the light. Having stepped from the darkness, she found she was able to view him in an entirely different light. While he had seemed well at ease and assured in the dungeon he only appeared more so out in the light. Asahria wasn’t entirely sure it was possible, but he was even more handsome out in the light. She was quiet as he led her to a large window overlooking the lake, pristinely still and almost picturesque. It seemed as though he were merely an addition to the setting. Do tell me about yourself. I’ve said so much, but find you much more intriguing. Laughing she settled herself against the wall, unable to take her eyes off of him. What’s your story, or am I keeping you from pressing business?

YOU BETTER RUN FOR YOUR LIFE
[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 355px;]— He circled his arms to his back, clasping his hands together. "Well. I suppose that someone, much as yourself, would have scores of plans with her friends to fulfill. A boyfriend perhaps? I can't imagine that you don't have some lucky bloke in your life. Whether he be yours still or a thing of the past." They walked on further before he added, "Love between two people is never really a thing of the past Miss Ryek." He smirked at her and silence fell between once more, but it was brief.
"Ah, a mysterious woman I see." He shrugged once, "Well I suppose that is understandable. We have just met haven't we? Wouldn't want to be giving away all our secrets so soon now." He noted that she must have been at least past her second year, the way she carried herself hinted at some not quite at the firth years level but she was definitely confident enough to easily surpass third year level. What a shame; they wouldn't have any classes together; he didn't worry much though. He had a feeling that they would see more of each other past this first meeting.
"A french woman as well? You are full of surprises Asahria. Then again, I feel as though it fits. They do say that french women are among the most beautiful women in the world." He said this with another smirk but gave them no time to dwell on that subject. "How brilliant of you. Most would take this opportunity to say the hell with it and just enjoy their bit of freedom. But you, you take responsibility and will yourself to catch up. I like that in a girl." His approving tone was interrupted as she recounted her fateful first year trip to the dungeons. He let out a soft chuckle and cleared his throat, "Fear gets even the best of us. I only hope that it that occurs again, Merlin forbid, that I shall be the next handsome gentleman able to save you from such a thing." He frowned as she told him of her single status, in regards to siblings, in the castle. "Often for the best I suppose. If any of my brothers or sisters were to come to school here I probably explode from wanting to protect them as well as throttle them."
As they leaned against the window, and she asked him of his own story, Levi smiled. Not smirked, but smiled. "I've no business to attend to. I'm afraid my life is rather boring really; not new to France but new here as you know. I wasn't born here sadly but thankfully I was born in England. The place almost as great as this one." |

Asahria watched plaintively his arms circling behind his back as they walked. She couldn’t imagine what sort of lifestyle Levi might expect of her. She had never really belonged in a category, or to any one group of people for that matter. It seemed that she had always just floated about the palace speaking to everyone in turns. That had been her job once. Now though, she was no longer head girl and she wasn’t being held to anyone’s expectations. She smiled, as he mentioned that the thought her to have scores of friends. While she would admit that she had an abundance of them, she had never been the type to settle for plans. In fact, she seemed to always be running into people. That was the extent of her planning. “A boyfriend perhaps?” Her steely blue eyes fell away from his face and towards the ground as she forced a small laugh. Not any longer. She mused, he was indeed wrong to imagine she had anyone special in her life. He was gone, but she supposed she couldn’t have expected him to still waiting for her. Charlton waited for no one it seemed – not even for her. "Love between two people is never really a thing of the past Miss Ryek." His statement was a riddle to her, met with the brief smirk which met his handsome features. I do believe you’re wrong. She said simply, as Charlton was very much a thing of the past. And who’s to say that one cannot love again?
She couldn’t help but laugh when he noted that she held an air of mystery, brushing it away with a simple shrug of his shoulders. Levi couldn’t begin to imagine how much a mystery that one simple girl could be. Her emotions might as well be an open book left on the counter for everyone to read, but Asahria would be the last to tell you the story behind them. She’d always been closed off, her thoughts were her own and they didn’t belong in the open air. If only she could count the times she’d been told I wish I knew what you were thinking. Glancing upon his assertive features, Asahria believed she could expect much the same from Levi though he was likely much better at hiding his emotions than she. Call it mysterious if you will. She teased, But I’m sure you’ll learn all you’ll need to know. And he would, nothing more, nothing less. She did not believe that this was the last time she would be seeing him.
Merely nodding her head at his statement, Asahria continued along beside him. She wondered if it had really been that much of a surprise that she were French. She could feel the creeping blush coloring her cheeks at his compliment; she did not speak her thanks, but instead nodded in appreciation. I’ve enjoyed my freedom for too long. She stated, it had been nearly a year since her return. She would be leaving here a whole year later than schedule. She couldn’t change what had happened and it hadn’t made her regret her time home. If anything, her mother dying had developed the only connection she believed her father and herself would ever share. Even though she knew little of her mother, it had not made the death any easier. It was never easy to lose a parent, regardless the circumstance. I’ve a bit of an advantage knowing everyone here so well, but what reason have I to be here other than school? The one thing that would have kept her had left long ago.
That it does, but it makes it less than favorable when you’re found in that state. It makes a person rather vulnerable. And vulnerable she had been, lost somewhere deep in the catacombs without even a wand to guide her. Though I pray, should I get myself lost that it would be your handsome face that finds me! Dare you give me a reason to go wandering the dungeons alone. She knew that was the last place she would set foot alone, but it would do no harm to play along. She listened attentively realizing that he had no other siblings at the palace either. Asahria believed she might have transferred had her younger brother been accepted, but he’d never shown evidence of being able to produce witchcraft. She’d been the only one of her muggle family and for that she was very thankful.
Well then I’m glad that I can keep you company. She smiled resting her head against the window. It was cool against her face, but she loved the chill which it sent sweeping through her body. Nodding apprehensively, she reached out to gently touch his shoulder before pulling her hand away. I doubt that one such as you could have such a boring life and I actually find England quite fascinating.

YOU BETTER RUN FOR YOUR LIFE
[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 355px;]— Staring pointedly out the window he felt her grow slightly uncomfortable and a little more guarded at his question. "I'm sorry if I have made you uncomfortable." he didn't know what else to say, not even daring to add any of his jokes. He cleared his throat silently as she continued their conversation, "That is true. My mother, for example, never seemed to stop loving someone new but..." he turned to look at her, "I know that she never stopped loving my father. That's how I know love survives no matter what." Leaning against the window he stared at her, "Then again, I've never experienced if for myself, possible never will." While it was true Levi was far from torn up about it.
"I say, are you flirting with me Ryek? I am more than flattered; my first day here and already am I meeting extremely interesting company." He shrugged at her answer. It was entirely possible that she was only at school for school but he found it slightly hard to believe in regards to her but he kept his suspicions to himself. "I do suppose you have a bit of catch up to do. Being away for so long." It reminded him of how much catching up he had of his own. Though he was confident that his classes wouldn't at all be too difficult, making himself at home in such a place would prove to be challenge. He knew no one, save a few of his mothers connections but they were not located anywhere inside, or outside for that matter, the school.
"I'm sure that at some future point, we'll have many a reason to meet up again in the dungeons. Hopefully under much better circumstances." he teased her slightly with a smile. He watched her pull her hand away but he'd relaxed a bit more at her touch. "It is absolutely enthralling." he agreed, "The greatest part of my life." |

How was Levi to know her history, he had only been a guest of the palace for a few hours after all. It was so very typical of her to act in such a manner. It was the very trait she had been willing away. She’d never be able to let anyone else in if she continued as she had. She’d barely even let Charlton in as it were and look where that had gotten her. You haven’t really. I only meant that sometimes love ceases. She offered sweetly, trying to persuade him otherwise. It really hadn’t been Levi who had been the problem after all; it was her feelings lashing out at her as they so often did. She turned her eyes out towards the grounds, drinking in the landscape as he continued, talking of his mother and her capacity for love. Her mother had always loved her father, but Asahria had never been sure she’d call it love. Everyone in her family seemed nothing but mere acquaintances. Perhaps love doesn’t die then, but I wouldn’t go as far to say that it all works out in the end. Those words were so unlike her, the girl who gave her whole heart, but time it seemed was causing it deterioration.
Coming from one that says love always survives, I find it peculiar that you would deny yourself that. Asahria said, her eyes still trained on the landscape outside the window. He had spoken the words with such suavity that she didn’t doubt him. Or do you find such a thing to be trifle? Turning her blue eyes back to him she waited for his answer. She had thought that love would bring her ultimate happiness, but somewhere in the middle it had met her with complete despair. Perhaps, one could live without such a thing as love. At least Levi seemed to be in this mindset and she found herself rather curious of his views.
She could feel the heat rising on her cheeks, accompanied by a blush that surely settled there at his words. You tell me. She said simply a smile evident on her thin lips. There could be the possibility that I just enjoy losing myself in the dungeons. It certainly brought me fair enough company today and handsome I must admit. It certainly helped to lift her spirits, finding herself in such company – some of the only company she’d had since her return. It wasn’t so often that she settled in so easily with anyone, but she found Levi to be intriguing in his own rights. He was also a good distraction from the other thoughts which had been plaguing her mind. I’ve plenty of catching up to do, as I’m sure you do as well, having just gotten here. I think this is just as well. Social lives and schoolwork are all in the same circle and you are much more interesting than any of my classes.
She notice him relax slightly at her touch and it made her feel comfortable in his presence, everything about him seemed so cool and collected. Sometime in the future? In the dungeons? She laughed as he returned to her jest. Pray tell, what might we be meeting in the dungeons for? If not for you to save me.

YOU BETTER RUN FOR YOUR LIFE
[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 355px;]— "No need to apologize. I understand." Not really. Levi was a bit too cynical for the idea of love so it had never occured to him that it could die out between two people. Sure, as he had said, he mother was proof that love never died but that was different. Certain things happened that caused her to never forget his father, caused her to cling to happy memories of him. Maybe that's what he perceived her love for him as: memories of happier times. Otherwise, he many marriages put a large damper on the whole thing.
He turned to her, letting her words sink in. "There are things in life that have caused me to rethink having such a thing myself. I'm sure while I will be rather fond of someone, and have a slight undying devotion to them...I just won't ever have an actual defined word for it. I'll love people, such as my family but I doubt I'll ever be in love." The conversation was turning much to serious for him. They'd barely known each other 15 minutes and already were they talking about love and such dribble. Thankful that they once more returned to their flirty mood. "Why, I do think you are making me blush?" he joked, combing a hand through his hand and resting it on the back of his neck. "Do you always make the boys so flustered?" He smile was addicting, as was her laugh and he found himself wanting to make her do both more often.
He let her keep her hand where it was, feeling relieved that she was comfortable enough to do such a thing. Now it was his turn to return the gesture. Leaning forward, he smooth back a lock of her hair and gave her a smirk. "You tell me." he said, leaning close to her ear before pulling back, once more leaning against the window. |

It seemed that as time went on she was growing more indifferent to the prospect of love. If love had shown her anything, it was that it was riddled with heartbreak. Her first love had cheated on her and the second an avalanche. She doubted that Levi truly understood as it was something she didn’t understand herself. It was something she doubted anyone would ever truly understand – a bit of a paradox in itself. Asahria turned her eyes away from Levi, making a point to stare out the window as he spoke. It seemed that every conversation he’d had lately had somehow turned to this. It was growing wearisome. It seemed that no matter where she turned she was constantly being reminded that she’d had a love. A love that she’d left behind. It was a ghost that wouldn’t seem to let her be. She barely even knew Levi and yet it’d come back to love. Was it so hard to believe that she could be single? That seemed to be the common misconception these days.
I’m sure it’s for the better. she stated simply, only vaguely surprised by her reaction to such a statement. Had she met Levi before her long absence she might have found such an outlook appalling, she might have gone even so far to pity the boy. Now though, she wondered if his statement had some element of truth in. Asahria wasn’t sure that she’d ever be in love again. Her heart couldn’t bear that weight again and she was certain it couldn’t withstand any more pain. Love really was such a fickle, fragile thing. Besides love is too heavy… it can become such a drag. She added lightly, a soft laugh escaping her lips. It was as heavy as their conversation had become and she was realizing it was easier to skirt around the topic. She was enjoying the lightness that had started this conversation and was again sifting into their words. Somehow it was a relief to forget everything else and just let her mind fall elsewhere. Somewhere where love didn’t exist and therefore could be a burden to no one.
She shook her head at his next comment, knowing that his words were coated in exaggeration, but it didn’t keep the smile from her face. She couldn’t help but let her eyes focus on him as he combed his fingers through his hair before finally resting his hand on the back of his neck. He really was handsome. She felt as though she were the one who needed to be stating that he was making her blush. She could feel the heat rising on her cheeks at his next statement, suddenly shy she turned her eyes away quickly. It’s been so long since she’d actually had an interaction with another male that she wasn’t even sure she knew how to act anymore. It was relief to know that she hadn’t completely isolated herself. Drawing her hand from his form, she was surprised when he met her with a touch of his own. His touch was short, but left an impression all the same – the quick slide of a hand brushing her golden hair back away from her face.
His close proximity left the rest of their conversation crashing down around her. The mood had quickly turned from one of solemnity. The mood now was very light and far from serious. It was relaxing, but made her anxious at the same time. She wasn’t sure what she was doing, but she liked that his nature was making her forget the importance of everything else. The sudden weightlessness of her conscience was intoxicating. A coy smile played across her lips as he leaned back against the window, creating a distance between them, where moments before there had been none. Well consider me flattered. Though I might say you’re the one to be causing fluster. She winked slightly, stepping away from the window, her heels clicking against the granite floors of the walkway. I could tell you, or better yet, I could show you. She spoke, her eyes gleaming in sudden spontaneity. She wasn’t sure what she was doing, but she found that it didn’t matter. It just felt good to be weightless again.
