I'M LIFTED TO THIS DARK CLOUD THAT RAINED ON YOU AND MADE YOU CRY tagged for leah It was entirely uncommon for Charlton to seek solace in his own company - but since returning to Beauxbatons, it was becoming something of a habit. The thought clunked down and settled somewhere in the pit of his stomach as he walked through the forest, a wave of unease and discomfort washing over him. He quirked a brief, mirthless smile as he remembered he’d often pitied the poor souls who couldn’t seem to help giving away their hearts so readily, falling head over heels in love and jumping in feet first. Now he was one of them. It had only had to be the once…only the once. He should have known better, infact he probably had known better - but he’d ignored his head and gone with it. The result: he’d made a complete car crash of his own life, and more importantly, hers.
She’d left, no explanation & no reason why. He had surmised in the week or two after her absence that this was the best resolution for the both of them. It hadn’t made it hurt any less at the time though, the memory of it bringing back the sickening clenching of his stomach, and a tightness in his chest. Charlton shook his head slightly, trying to clear his morbid thought process. What the hell was he doing? He reached and grabbed a stick, whipping the foliage around him with a little more violence than needed. Silence spoke a thousand words, and Asahria had spoken volumes in taking off. It was so unlike her… yet so like him. She was better of without him, he was rubbing off on her. Now he knew how it felt, was that the reasoning behind it? Feeling his mouth suddenly dry out, Charlton lobbed the stick into the undergrowth & heaved a sigh,. He shifted his back pack to the other shoulder as he neared the bridge, attempting to realign his thoughts again. Focus. It had been a clean break - he’d had time away to sort through his head and now it was time to focus on making himself him again.
Slinging the back pack down, he followed suit, long legs dangling over the edge. This would be the last time he moped, sought out his own company, or thought about things he couldn’t change. Full stop, new chapter. He leaned back on the palms of his hands, closing his eyes and tilting his face up to the watery sunlight filtering through the trees. He’d start with a Dorm Party…yeah…a Dorm Party. Invite that new blonde he’d seen across the hall, he cringed abruptly, Asahria’s face flashing up. No, better make it the brunette. And make it a two day party. He grinned to himself, eyes still closed. Yeah, that’ll do the trick. Palette cleanser. Charlton swallowed thickly, acknowledging for the briefest moment that he was being entirely crude. But he had no idea how else to deal with it.

These past few weeks had been full of tears, laughs, and some hardcore soul searching. Her life was a wreck, but it was about time she starting getting back into the grind of things. A person could only mope around, cry, and not eat for so long, right? Her weight still had not returned to it’s norm---although, the fact that her curves were beginning to fill out again was indeed a good sign. That night she had spent with Asa in the kitchens was exactly what she needed to whip herself back into shape. Hanging out with Alexei certainly hadn’t hurt either. Friends really did make everything better, especially when you had friends like hers. She couldn’t have asked for better people to help her get out of this rut.
Leah had decided to go for a run. Yup, it was definitely not something you saw around here all too much. You see, Leah had been trying to find ways to keep herself occupied and her mind of off Rue. Damn. He had snuck his way back into her mind. It didn’t make her cry anymore, though, which was definitely a good thing. All she had wanted was for things to work out between them; she was not going to give up on him yet. How did the saying go? If they’re meant to be together they would find a way…or something like that. As she ran, her blonde ponytail swinging back and forth, she smiled to herself. Perhaps the person who said that was wise and was telling the truth. Rue and Leah had been through way too much to just let their entire relationship crumble. Leah had taken over a year to go home to England and think her life over; since Rue had no reason to go to his home in Germany, maybe he was doing his thinking here. Although she had been quite unconvinced the first time someone had mentioned that to her, ever so slowly she was beginning to accept the idea. Time. It was all the two of them needed.
She found herself running to Moonstone Bridge, the last place she had spoken to Rue. Only now, there were no butterflies in ther stomach as she approached. All she felt was the bitter cold hitting the sweat on her skin, sending chills down her spine. The closer she approached, the more she swore she recognized the figure sitting along the edge. She slowed down to a jog, her blue eyes squinting as she struggled to make out the face. It seriously could not be him. Where the hell had he come from? She stopped her running and walked to the bridge, her hands covering her mouth as she saw that it was the exact person she had though. ”Charlton?” she asked, her breath jagged from her run. ”Charlton Glashtyn?”

Charlton heard the footsteps long before the runner came into view, werewolf hearing picking up the rhythmic beat as they headed toward the bridge. He sat up, leaning into the bridge as he tried to peer through the foliage and make out the unexpected visitor, feeling a sudden wave unease rise in his stomach as he recognised the gait to be female. It was entirely foreign for him to feel this way at the prospect of running into someone, a realisation which only served to make him feel even more ill at ease. It was only a moment ago that he had been relishing the idea of forcing himself into meeting new people, and new females at that, but he hadn’t anticipated it would be as soon as this. He grimly acknowledged that it wasn’t females he was worried about meeting…it was one female in particular he wasn’t ready for yet.
Charlton reached out a hand and grabbed his back pack, eyes still fixed on the trees that masked the path. Although the runner was closer now, he knew he would easily evade her if he chose to run now. He grimaced, catching himself standing up automatically in readiness and attempted to ignore the nagging voice in the back of his head that reminded him that running was precisely the choice of reaction that had resulted in him being in this situation in the first place. Sooner or later he was going to have to face it head on. A sudden flash of blonde hair through the trees held him rigid….looked like it would be sooner rather than later then.
It seemed she had caught sight of him too - the footsteps slowing to a jog. Charlton’s jaw tightened, posture stiffening. Even just seeing her would be like a smack to the face - and he needed to be prepared for that. She left you this time - remember? He reminded himself curtly, squaring his shoulders..
He’d all but convinced himself it was going to be Asahria, so he was more than little bewildered to see the familiar face of Leah walking toward him. She looked equally unprepared to see him, and he suddenly felt as though he’d be caught doing something he shouldn’t.
”Charlton? Charlton Glashtyn?”
Charlton shifted slightly, feeling more than a little awkward. “The one & only…” He offered cheerily, but to his ears it didn’t quite have the off handed ease his voice normally did. Perhaps it was because Leah had been, probably still was, such good friends with Asahria - so this was almost the next thing down from Asahria. Now he’d probably have to talk about her instead. Joy. “How you doing Leah…long time no see hey? How‘s Rue?” Bugger. Too late he remembered Leah hadn’t seen Rue around for some time, or at least so he’d heard. Wow. Way to go. Talk about face palm.

love hurts but sometimes it's a good hurt A N D I T F E E L S L I K E I M A L I V E- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Charlton was standing up and poised like he was ready to run. Jumpy wasn’t he? Leah was more so shocked that he was here right now because Asa hadn’t mentioned his return. Did she still not know? Was he hiding from her? Leah’s blue eyes looked him up and down, not in a rude way but more so taking in the fact that it really was him. It had been ages since she had last seen Charlton; she honestly couldn’t count the months on her fingers. Lets see, 12 months she had spent in England with her father and before that she hadn’t seen Asahria and Charlton together for like 4 or so. Meh, math wasn’t her strong suit; the point was it had been forever since Charlton showed his face at this school. A part of Leah was pissed off and wanted to snap at him for leaving the way he did, but he was her friend despite it all and she was Switzerland in her friends’ relationship.
She quickly zipped up the front of her track jacket, not liking the idea of him staring at her bare stomach. They were friends and all but there were still certain things friends didn’t look at on each other. Leah still wore a one piece to swim, for heaven’s sake. That and she didn’t like the fact that her ribs were sticking out beneath her workout bra, clearly visible after she had emaciated herself to almost nothing. She was working on it, and maybe the running was helping her to lose weight too, but once she got her eating back in order she would be the curvaceous blonde that attracted Rue in the first place. That was, if Rue was even still attracted to her. Her thoughts were all jumbled in her head now, thinking of the boy who wanted nothing to do with her. She was really starting to think there would be no chance for the two of them and her only option was to more on. It made her feel sick to even think about it.
How are you doing, Leah…long time no see hey? How’s Rue?
Bam, it hit her right in the gut. She almost felt like the wind had been knocked out of her. Leah nibbled on her lower lip from the feeling. Guess she wasn’t as over the situation as she had thought. Leah was willing to give Charlton the benefit of the doubt: maybe he hadn’t heard about all the crap she was going through right now, and that was an honest mistake. Or maybe he had heard but was trying to turn the attention away from him and the fact he decided to show up back here after so long and not even go to see the girl who was still madly in love with him. Leah let out a sigh. She would let it go. The blonde slowly approached him, staring him dead in the face and flashing a sudden smile before wrapping him in a small hug. He was her friend no matter what and friends hugged each other right? She plopped herself down on the bridge’s edge like he had been before she showed up and patted the spot next to her. ”Funny how you’re the one who disappeared before I did and you want to know how I’m doing,”
she said, swinging her legs back and forth and they dangled over the edge. ”I’m doing well. Better than I was last week, that’s for sure. As for Rue, he and I aren’t together anymore. At least, that’s how he’s making it seem…” she trailed off. Details wouldn’t be given unless he wanted to know more. Besides, she had questions for him. ”Asa doesn’t know, does she?” she asked, turning her blue eyes away from him to look at the ravine beneath her. If it wasn’t awkward enough already, Leah was looking at him as if she’d seen a ghost and could hardly believe he was there. Charlton swallowed thickly, suddenly acutely aware that he’d really been gone for a year and before that…well. He hadn’t really been himself and he and Asahria still hadn’t managed to patch up the damage and devastation he’d left in the wake of his last departure from the school, albeit a departure that hadn’t really been his choice. He felt a pang of guilt that he’d tried to portray Asahria in a bad light, even if only to himself, as when he really surveyed their relationship, it was his hand that had been doing all the smashing. The only mistake she’d made was to try and stick it out…whatever it was that they’d had. Once.
To top it all, Leah had zipped up her jacket & his greeting had gone down like a lead balloon. Real smooth. Had he been staring? Charlton looked away awkwardly, cursing inwardly. What an idiot. He should have bloody run away when he’d had the chance. He backtracked mentally, noticing how much weight she had lost. She didn’t look bad for it considering, Leah never did, but clearly the Rue situation was hitting her harder than he’d realised before he’d so ignorantly opened his mouth. His face softened a little as he looked at her, suddenly wanting to offer friendly comfort.
However, as she started to close the distance between them without a word - Charlton resisted the urge to back away, briefly wondering if she was going to smack him one, but was quickly reassured by the smile that lit her face. He relaxed into her welcoming hug with the smallest sigh of relief, friends still then. Despite his big mouth. And Asahria. He followed suit as Leah patted the bridge next to her. Charlton had never cared about what anyone thought about him before, but since coming back, he couldn’t stop thinking of anything else. It had to stop.
”Funny how you’re the one who disappeared before I did and you want to know how I’m doing. I’m doing well. Better than I was last week, that’s for sure. As for Rue, he and I aren’t together anymore. At least, that’s how he’s making it seem…”
Charlton joined her in swinging his legs, looking out over the trees as she spoke. He winced as she mentioned Rue. Ouch. So it was true. “I’m really sorry…I didn’t think…didn’t really know” He sighed & gave up, glancing across at her. “I’d heard something along those lines,” He had only known Rue from afar really, and mainly from Charlton having known Lunette before she’d left. He couldn’t imagine that he’d do that to Leah though…but then, hadn’t he just done a similar thing to Asahria? He cringed inwardly at the parallels , looking away quickly and asking “Has he told you that?” He wasn’t sure if she would want someone to talk to about it. Sometimes it was just easier to forget. ”Asa doesn’t know, does she?” Leah had turned away from him to look out over the ravine, and he was grateful not to have to meet her eyes for fear of what she might see in his face. She was his friend, yes, but still, he’d always liked to keep his emotions to himself until he was quite sure what to do with them. At the moment he wasn’t sure what to do with the reservoir of emotion he had backed up within him for Asahria. He hoped it would drain away until one day, looked in on it and found it to peacefully empty. Charlton swallowed thickly, a short mirthless laugh escaping him. ”What do you think? Course she doesn’t,” He looked down, toying with his thumbs. ”It’s better that way anyway. Better for both of us.”. [/blockquote]

I’d heard something along those lines.”
That was the thing about Charlton; as much as a badass he pretended to be, sometimes he was as good of a friend as anyone could ever be. And he was a badass xD. Leah’s whole body perked up as he mentioned that he had heard something about what happened between her and Rue. What the hell? They were both in Rouerie and Charlton in Sournois; you mean details of her private relationship where circulating in other houses? She blinked twice, not knowing what to say. Only a few people really knew what had happened between her and Rue, the truth as it were. Others, from rumors she had been hearing in her own house, only knew what had been whispered in the halls and was already way out of sorts. Leah had left him for another guy, Rue left Leah for another girl. Leah was pregnant with someone’s love child, blah blah. Funny what the rumor mill spewed out these days. Leah supposed that nothing else juicy was happening other than a broken relationship between a girl and her “rebound” after a shattered marriage. Leah’s life really was a mess, huh?
She began to pick at the nail polish on her nails, a nervous habit she had when she had something on her mind. Luckily, Charlton had broken the silence, but it was only another question about Rue: has he told you that? Leah let out a nervous laugh, shaking her blonde head. ”Funny thing is, Rue hasn’t said much of anything to me since I’ve returned. I wrote him over 30 letters and all went ignored. He refuses any sort of meeting with me. We live in the same house, and he runs every time he sees me. You would think I was the only one who had ever broken his heart…”
which she wasn’t, by the way. Rue had a long-standing relationship with a married woman; yes, a MARRIED woman. And no, it did not end right when the two of them began dating, which made it worse. Also, let us no forget the time Rue made out with his so called “best friend” Indigo BY CHOICE when he was still with Leah. Thinking back on all those things, it hit her like a 4-ton brick. Maybe she and Rue were never meant to be. Leah was the only one looking for reasons for the two of them to stay together, whereas Rue seemed perfectly content with things being the way they were. He hadn’t allowed himself to waste away to almost nothing. He wasn’t the one who spent days in his dormitory crying his eyes out. He also never once wrote Leah a single letter since she came back. NOT ONE. Her stomach settled back into his place, the feeling of uneasiness subsiding. Perhaps it was time for Leah to just move on. She was tired of being the one who always did the chasing but was never chased. She was going to live her own life, dammit, and if he wanted her, he could come looking. He had broken her heart enough times that Leah’s leaving as suddenly as she did and not telling him where she was going was something that should have been ignored. At least she never cheated… What do you think? Course she doesn’t…it’s better that way. Better for both of us.Charlton wasn’t looking at her now, but Leah’s blue eyes were square on his face, trying to pick up any indication that his words were untrue. Leah spotted him playing with his thumbs nervously and Leah sighed, nudging his shoulder with her own. ”I won’t tell her, if you’re worried about that,” she told him, giving him a small smile. ”But I think you should reach out to her, at your own pace of course. She still isn’t over you, ya know? I don’t think she is even pretending she has. Asahria was good at trying to put on a façade when it came to her feelings, but Leah had been dealing with her own issues for way too long to know when a person was still madly in love. And yeah, Charlton and Asa’s relationship was a poisonous one, but there were also no two people who were better for one another. ”Why did you come back if you think it’s better for you two to be apart?” she asked, hoping he didn’t get the wrong idea. Leah loved having Charlton around; like I said, she and him got along incredibly well and she missed having a fun guy friend around. But deep down she wondered: if not for Asa, than why come back? Admittedly he might be inept at anything in the love department, and that certainly could extend to certain social graces too, but he excelled in noticing body language. He decided to keep his mouth shut when Leah tensed beside him, and he figured he’d caught her off guard with his comment about Rue. Pulling out all the moves today, he thought sourly as she started to nervously pick her nail polish. He rarely took note of the rumour mill - primarily because unless it involved him he wasn’t particularly interested, but also because he knew the majority of it to be a garbled mixture of half truths, jealousy and general nastiness. Seeing the look on Leah’s face though, he wished he hadn’t heard this particular rumour, and had thought to keep his mouth shut. He wasn’t particularly bothered if people wanted to gossip about him….after all, any publicity was good publicity, but he often forgot others weren’t so thick skinned when it came to brushing off the schools tendency for barbed rumours, particularly relationship orientated ones.
Charlton rubbed his jaw awkwardly as he mulled over what she’d said. He couldn’t speak for Rue, but it wasn’t looking too positive. He glanced at Leah, who seemed to be considering what she’d told him herself. Relationships…they’re a complicated thing, eh.” He broke the silence, looking back out over the ravine. ”I’m not the best person to give advice, you probably know that better than anyone. What I do reckon though - is a relationship is for two. There shouldn’t just be one of you doing the housekeeping in it.” It was ironic him trying to give relationship advice. Every relationship he’d ever had he’d flattened and devastated with all the force of an atom bomb. “I wont tell her, if you’re worried about that, But I think you should reach out to her, at your own pace of course. She still isn’t over you, ya know? I don’t think she is even pretending she has. It was actually a relief to hear Leah say that, and his face brightened instantly. “You’re a trooper…cheers Leah.“ He chose to ignore her comment on reaching out. He’d known meeting Asahria again was always going to hurt like a punch to the throat, probably no matter how long he left it. He just wasn’t ready yet. Besides, whatever Leah said about not being over him - that wasn’t what he’d heard. Sometimes relationship were familiarity more than anything - and he was just a rut Asahria had gotten stuck in. ”Why did you come back if you think it’s better for you two to be apart?”This was the problem with girls. They wanted to get right to the bottom of the issue, then box it away in their head to make it all make sense. The problem with life was that sometimes stuff just didn’t make sense. Particularly, he’d found, when it came to relationships. Charlton shifted, shrugging carelessly and pulling a face as he tried to pick out the right words to respond. As girls went, Leah was more understanding than most. And at least she wasn’t on some kind of man hunt because of Rue. Break ups did weird things…and were responsible for more than a few man hating bunny boilers out looking for revenge. He settled on the truth after a few seconds, glancing across to meet Leah’s probing gaze. ”I dunno,” He shrugged again, green eyes bemused. ”I didn’t reckon she’d come back here I guess. And I’m not good on my own. Needed the company didn’t I.” He winked at her in a friendly manner, knowing the answer sounded evasive even to his own ears. However, he genuinely hadn’t come back for Asa. At least he thought he hadn't. [[Sorry it took me so LONG. >.< We should have totally RP'd an aeon ago!! ]] [/blockquote]

love hurts but sometimes it's a good hurt A N D I T F E E L S L I K E I M A L I V E- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - If anyone was going to tell her the truth about her relationship with Rue, it was going to be a guy. Girls always tried to dwell on the fact that it’s love and that love always finds away. Bull crap, in this case. However, Leah was particularly grateful that Charlton wasn’t brutally honest with her at the moment. She knew Rue was a prick and probably didn’t ever want to be with her again; deep down, Leah knew all those things. But being the girl (and the romantic) that she was, a part of her really wanted to believe everything was going to be okay. Everything was always okay with the two of them, so why would this situation be any different, right? She was a fool and she knew it, but she loved him. It would take a hell of a man to convince her that there was someone better out there. Someone who could love her despite all her faults and her past history probably did not exist.
Relationships…they’re a complicated thing, eh. I’m not the best person to give advice; you probably know that better than anyone. What I do reckon though - is a relationship is for two. There shouldn’t just be one of you doing the housekeeping in it.
Leah nibbled on her lower lip, hating to admit that Charlton was actually right. He could give advice like that and be totally correct in his opinion, and yet his relationship with Asa was up in the air. Leah didn’t say a word to him about that fact because she didn’t want to ruin everything they hate right at that moment. Her friend was back after goodness knows how long and they were trying to help each other with their problems. Sure, Leah had Asa and some of her other friends; like Alexei, for instance, who was able to give her advice not even knowing Rue and being able to be totally honest with her. Charlton had his own fair share of heartbreak and love drama, so it was nice to have a guys perpective. Like I said before, girls focused too much on the lovey dovey; boys focused more on what was concretely there.
Charlton’s face brightened when she said she would tell Asa, which only meant that he had been thinking about that for a while. It wasn’t like Leah was going to finish up their meeting and go running to her friend about who she had just seen on the grounds. Leah was Switzerland and they were both incredibly good friends to her. She wasn’t going to be the one to stir up any unneeded drama and, truth be told, it wasn’t really any of her business what the two of them wanted to do with their love lives. Leah only asked Charlton and Asa questions because she wanted them to know that she was there for them no matter what. That was what friends were for right?
I dunno. I didn’t reckon she’d come back here I guess. And I’m not good on my own. Needed the company didn’t I?
Leah understood perfectly. A part of her had hoped that maybe Rue had gone back to Germany after she left him and they she could return with a clean slate. Instead, she was greeted with old feelings and enough tension to blow the roof off of a house. Leah turned her blue eyes to Charlton, nudging his broad shoulder with her tiny one. ”And look who you’re stuck with for company. Aren’t you the luckiest lad out here,”[/b[ she told him, giggling a bit to herself. It had been a while since she had actually felt decent; not happy, per se, but decent. ”Unless you’ve already sought company elsewhere. You know, from unsuspecting girls who don’t know what you are all about, Charlton Glashtyn.”
Leah jokingly wagged a finger at him. She was only playing around. All this talk of past relationships was starting to bring down the mood. Charlton watched as she chewed her lip, mulling over what he’d said. He wouldn’t blame her if she spat it back at him, - but he knew she wasn’t like that.
”And look who you’re stuck with for company. Aren’t you the luckiest lad out here, unless you’ve already sought company elsewhere. You know, from unsuspecting girls who don’t know what you are all about, Charlton Glashtyn.”
He was back on familiar territory as she teased him, the weight of reality lifting a little. Charlton laughed, shouldering her gently back. “Pssht, been waiting ages for this moment aint I. Besides, there are worse things to be stuck with I suppose….” He teased back. “But I am the luckiest lad out there no doubt about that. Luckily I can look after myself, or I’d be worried about being taken out by all your admirers.” It was refreshing for them both to be smiling despite the circumstances. A nice reminder to the pair of them that there was life after a relationship, and that at some point you would be smiling again. Like he’d said before, this was a new chapter for him, and he didn’t intend to be mulling over the past or dwelling on black thoughts for much longer than today. Glancing across at Leah’s slender frame, he hoped that she’d be able to feel similar some day soon - she didn’t deserve to be feeling the way she did. Tentively he decided to offer help. “You know, if you do need a guys perspective - I’d try and help you out.” He paused, feeling a sliver of awkwardness creep back, not sure if Leah would even want his advice. After all, she‘d seen what he‘d done to Asa. He shrugged it off quickly by adding, “Like I said, I’m hardly the king of relationships so probably not the best on advice, and tears do make me a bit awkward so we‘ll be having none of that now…” He winked at her teasingly, “But I do know how to have a good time…you should come out with me some time. Might take your mind off of things.” He didn’t necessarily mean finding someone else, though that might not hurt - he figured Leah could do with beng reminded of her worth. Self medicating with alcohol, extremely loud music and even later nights wasn’t everyones cup of tea for a break up but he’d found it to be his fail safe recipe for helping him forget. He didn’t doubt Leah had more than a few female friends ready to listen sympathetically as she wallowed in the uncertainty of her & Rues relationship. They’d probably trade off stories on how they knew exactly how it felt - when it reality, they didn’t. Everyone felt to different extremes, and whilst there might be similarities in relationships - you cold never say any was the same, much like people themselves. Comparing the similarities mothers meeting style like that didn’t always make you feel better either - sometimes it made you feel like every other guy/girl out there would be the same…so what was the point, love was a hopeless lost cause. That could leave you in a dark place. Instead, he chose to get out and remind himself how great life was - even if it did mean he had a banging headache for 50% of the day. Well, at least until the next party started. [[BLAH, this was not my favourite/best response but hope it's okay! ]] [/blockquote]

That was an important thing to have with friends; friends weren’t really friends if they held things against you or let you wallow on the sad things in your life. Charlton was trying to lift the mood just as Leah was trying to do for him. The two of them had way too much love drama to ruin this reunion. They had to have fun.
Pssht, been waiting ages for this moment aint I. Besides, there are worse things to be stuck with I suppose….But I am the luckiest lad out there no doubt about that. Luckily I can look after myself, or I’d be worried about being taken out by all your admirers
Leah snorted, shaking her head and slapping Charlton in the arm. ”Me? Admirers? Please. No one wants a widowed basketcase who can’t even hold down a boyfriend without doing something to screw up a perfectly good relationship,”
she answered. She looked out at the ravine again, allowing herself to dwell on that fact. Was it such a bad thing she was single right now? She could go out, meet new people, enjoy having fun and never have to worry about someone running around making up rumors about her to tell her boyfriend. Maybe this wasn’t a terrible situation to be in after all. You know, if you do need a guys perspective - I’d try and help you out. Like I said, I’m hardly the king of relationships so probably not the best on advice, and tears do make me a bit awkward so we‘ll be having none of that now. But I do know how to have a good time…you should come out with me some time. Might take your mind off of things. The small blonde perked up in her seat on the bridge, turning her blue eyes to her companion and allowing a large smile to form on her face. ”You definitely have no room to give me any relationship advice. Not when your love life is just as complicated as my own,” she began, not in anyway trying to insult him of course. It was the truth and she was almost positive Charlton knew that. ”But I would love to go out with you. You know, to have fun and all. I definitely need to let loose some. I’ve been depressed and upset and mopey for far too long.” She didn’t have many outgoing friends who were willing to go out with her and have some fun, so it was nice Charlton offered. ”What kind of shenanigans did you have in mind?” [/blockquote][/blockquote] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - this post is for charlton and it stands at a grand total of 493 words. my character is looking fine in this if i do say so, and i would like to add that not my best. ”Me? Admirers? Please. No one wants a widowed basketcase who can’t even hold down a boyfriend without doing something to screw up a perfectly good relationship,”
He clutched at the arm she slapped, pulling a mock hurt expression. Not that the fragile blonde could ever physically hurt him, she’d do more damage to herself than him if she tried. It was nice to hear her laugh though. She’d been through an awful lot for someone so young…stuff Charlton couldn’t even comprehend. In a way it made him feel like his problems were slightly pathetic. The worst bit about it all was that it appeared to have completely eradicated Leah’s self confidence. Without even starting on her personality, all Leah had to do was look in the mirror to see what half of Beauxbatons male population would want with her. Yes she had lost weight, but she wasn’t any less beautiful. Rue wasn’t doing a very good job of helping Leah feel her best….so maybe it was time Leah found someone who would.
He chewed his lip as he watched her staring into space, wondering if perhaps he’d given her food for thought with his teasing remark on admirers, or if he’d simply made her feel worse. Offhanded remark s sometimes led off on to thought trails that hurt, even with the best intentions.
”You definitely have no room to give me any relationship advice. Not when your love life is just as complicated as my own,”
“Fair enough.“ He shrugged off her remark with an easy smile, not offended in the slightest. He definitely didn’t have a good track record. True Dat. Of course it stung a little, but that was only because he knew it to be true, and thoughts of his failed relationship with Asahria were so close to the surface.
”But I would love to go out with you. You know, to have fun and all. I definitely need to let loose some. I’ve been depressed and upset and mopey for far too long. What kind of shenanigans did you have in mind?”
“Really?!” His face lit up, and he couldn’t quite hide the sliver of surprise he felt. He’d been almost certain she’d say no. “Ah that’s quality Leah…I promise we’ll try and have a good laugh!” He was eager to please, dark green eyes earnest. Despite his failings in life, Charlton did just like to make people happy. Sometimes that led him down a slightly misguided path….things never went to plan, but the majority of what he did was done with a good heart. “I had been thinking of a Dorm party, like a welcome back party…can’t be in Rouerie though.” For obvious reasons. He didn’t want Asahria turning up uninvited. He had his Da’s bad handle on the old alcohol/emotion combo and who knew what would happen. No, they needed mutual ground maybe.
“Is that Room of Requirement still floating about…we could have a pretty awesome set of shenanigans in there.” he suggested off handedly. He wasn’t too sure what he’d had in mind really. Probably his usual casual approach, but if Leah was intending to come he wanted to make it a little more special for her. They both definitely could do with it.

Charlton grabbing his arm in mock pain was hysterical because Leah was almost positive she could feel her hand getting warm from the sudden impact. She was a little weak thing, this tiny little blonde, but she always had been that way, even before she lost a crap ton of weight and starting working out to clear her mind from the pain. She had always been the smallest in her classes, always mistaken for a 12 year old compared to her actual 17 years, and it was quite alright to be honest. She had been told by many people (Daniel, included, who stood an entire foot and a half about her and would teasingly rest his elbows on her head when they stood side by side) that it made her cute. She guessed if she was going to be considered “attractive” in some way, cute was a step in the right direction.
Leah grabbed her blonde ponytail and played with the ends of her hair, just thinking about what Charlton could possibly have in mind for the two of them to do. She was quite excited, although it didn’t show fully on her face yet. She just wondered if Rue was off doing the things she was planning on doing and that was why he hadn’t contacted her. No, she wouldn’t allow her mind to wander back to him. No need to ruin her new, good mood with thoughts of the person who brought her down to her lowest point ever. She always thought she was bad after Daniel had died, but she was nothing like how she was with Rue…and Rue was still alive! Gosh, she was just a mess, now wasn’t she?
Really?! I had been thinking of a dorm party, like a welcome back party…can’t be in Rouerie though.”
The light that appeared in his face that moment made her own light up and she clapped her hands together, bouncing slighting in place. It was nice to be able to plan such fun things with someone she had considered a close friend for so long. Together, they were going to push all their problems away and move on in someway or another, even if it was only for a night. Leah nodded her head in agreement about not having the party in Rouerie. Not because of Asa, which she was sure was his reasoning for stating that condition, but because of Rue. The last thing she wanted was for him to show up and things would just be ruined for both Charlton and Leah. Yes, please no partypoopers of any sort.
Is that room of requirement still floating about…we could have a pretty awesome set of shenanigans in there
Leah laughed, nodding her head and turning her blue eyes to Charlton. Oh yeah, it’s still there. And it’s awesome because everything will already be there. I swear that room is the best room here. Brilliant, I’m tellin’ ya,” she told him, unzipping her jacket and lying back on the bridge. She rested her hands on her bare stomach as she thought about ideas she could contribute to the party planning. ”I hope you have nice, single guy friends,”
she said aloud. ”Or any single friends really. They don’t have to be nice or male. Boys suck and nice guys always break my heart,” she joked. “Oh yeah, it’s still there. And it’s awesome because everything will already be there. I swear that room is the best room here. Brilliant, I’m tellin’ ya”
He laughed as she clapped her hands together, the worry that had been hovering around the elegant lines of her face lifting for just a moment. It was amazing what freedom could do to a person, and from the look on her face Charlton confirmed to himself that he had made the right decision in inviting Leah to go out. He smiled inwardly, as he acknowledged that she probably wouldn’t feel the same way in the morning when the hang over came knocking….
“I hope you have nice, single guy friends, or any single friends really. They don’t have to be nice or male. Boys suck and nice guys always break my heart.”
There was something about the way she said it that suddenly brought about a surge of protective worry from within him. The type of friends he had were like him…and the last thing he wanted was a just getting back on her feet Leah being exposed to relationship bulldozers like him. It could destroy her. He chewed thoughtfully on his lip for a second, pondering it. “There won’t be any boys breaking your heart that night, and if they do - I’ll be breaking their bones…”
He responded earnestly. His expression softened as he glanced across to Leah stretched out on the bridge. Charlton’s tone might have sounded entirely jovial, but he couldn’t have meant anything more. He wasn’t a violent person at all, and the only trouble he’d ever experienced in life primarily came from run ins with women. However, he knew how to look after himself - and his presence alone was enough to make most guys think twice. Since he’d become a werewolf he’d found he had a temper, compared to back in the day when nothing fazed him. Perhaps it was something to do with growing up too. Combine that with a heady mixture of alcohol, and Charltons fists were a little quicker to swing…particularly when it came to defending those he cared about. He and Leah had always been friends, but he’d never really been particularly involved with her ‘business’ so to speak. Their chat this afternoon hadn’t been long , but seeing how damaged she was had awoken an instinctive protectiveness for the slight blonde. “You get any trouble, you come find me.” He added gruffly, following her lead and laying back on the bridge, staring into the sky. God forbid he’d ever have a sister, daughter or steady girlfriend again. Charlton didn’t usually doubt his own plans, having an unrealistically bright outlook on everything he put his hand to - but having seen how well he had unintentionally massacred everything in the last few years, perhaps he needed to be more thoughtful in his plans and suggestions. He shifted a little , deciding to change the subject back to their night out - not wanting Leah to pick up on the small doubts he was having about the males of the evening. That wouldn’t do, he wanted her to have something to look forward to. “You could always turn lesbian…“ He glanced across at her and winked. “and I hope you have nice, single girl friends…girls always break my heart.” He added teasingly. In truth, Charlton had only had his heart broken twice. Only ever been bothered about two girls. One was Asa, and the other Isobel - both so different. They did say love was a battle, but he was getting pretty tired of fighting. [/blockquote]

There was something about the way that he had say it that made Leah turn her head to look at him. He was chewing on his lip and seemed to be lost in deep thought. She picked up that he hadn’t mentioned anything about having nice guy friends and she smiled to herself. The way he was acting, you would think he was incredibly protective of her. The thought made her happy a little, though. She had been an only child her entire life and, with her mother gone, she was sure she always would be. Charlton and her had been friends for so long and, although they were relatively close in age, there was nothing wrong with her considering him an older brother figure, right? Maybe it would complicate things, especially since she was so close with Asa and his history with her fellow blonde was so rugged. Oh well. She had to keep reminding herself that what was their problem was theirs and that she had no involvement. She was going to be Switzerland, remember?
”At least I’ll have you to protect me if anything goes wrong,”
she told him, poking at his biceps. ”You’ll be my body guard and make sure no mean boys mess with me.” She laughed and poked him again. I guess it was one of the advantages of having a werewolf-friend---he was big, and strong, and he could do damage xD She felt slight chill in the air and it sent shivers down her spine. The weather was getting cooler, but she didn’t want to move. What began as a day to clear her mind turned into a meeting between old friends and she was greatly enjoying herself. She and Charlton had always gotten along incredibly well. Leah was just glad to see that he hadn’t let what happened between him and Asahria keep him away forever. Honestly, an ex-girlfriend was no good excuse to stay away from school. You could always turn lesbian…and I hope you have nice, single girl friends…girls always break my heart. Leah turned her blue eyes to him, shaking her head and letting out a laugh. ”I don’t think I have any friends that quite fit what you’re looking for and, even if I did, I wouldn’t allow you near them you heartbreaker,” she teased, letting out another laugh. Meh, she was partially being honest. She didn’t really have many girl friends, except Asa and, well, she would never dare try to bring them back together again. That would have to happen on their own. No, she really was quite unsure of who she would be able to invite from her end. A lot of people disowned her when she had left and, when she had come back, they all took Rue’s side like there was a side to take and his was the way to go. Honestly, what she had done wasn’t even that bad. People needed to get over themselves. Leah her right hand up to her field of vision, her former wedding band from Daniel sitting on her right ring finger. When he had died, she had put it away for a long time, not wanting to look at the Noir family heirloom he had presented her with. However, when things with Rue seemed to go downhill, she removed it from it’s velvet lined box and put it on her opposite hand. She wished he was here…things wouldn’t have been like this and she wouldn’t be planning a party with her one of her closest friends to meet new guys. She’d still be happily married.
