H I S T O R Y Otis Barberis has a big family tree that goes all the way back to the B.C. era. He is one hundred percent greek and his parents tell him and his siblings that they are descendants from royalty, but Otis didn't exactly believe in those stories since they've been one of the poor families in Greece for a long time. But his parents think that they're descendants from one of the greek gods, like Apollo, Zeus, or Aphrodite. Otis on the other hand, was smarter than his parents, and knew that gods didn't exist. He just couldn't convince them that he was right and the smarter and more reasonable one.
Each generation has been different for the Barberis throughout the centuries. It started out as a rich wizard and his family. His son though, became poor and then his son became rich, and so on and so on. It went on for many years and still has. It just so happens that Otis' family was the poor family this time. Since his parents believed in the old myth, they tried to educate their sons and daughters the best they could. Their Aunt Demeter was a teacher and also helped them with raising their children.
When Otis was born, he was their second son. His older brother was named Atlas after one of the greek gods and was only a year older than Otis. But just a month later Otis was having visions of the future, but his parents didn't know that since Otis couldn't talk and tell them. But ironically, his middle name was Apollo - the god of prophecy. But his parents didn't really think too much about the names, since they decided that all of their children were going to have a god's or goddess' name in them.
Two years later twin girls came and their parents named them Hestia and Hera. Otis was only two and was just starting to form a single sentence but was having visions of the future more often, but nothing too big. The last of the Barberis children came and it was another boy. Because of his bright blonde hair that seemed to have a glow to it, their parents decided to name him Chrysander Zeus. That was the last, but it was just beginning.
Now by the age of seven, Otis could speak much better and told his parents about the visions he was having. It was a good thing his parents were a witch and wizard. They knew what this meant and told him he was a seer and they saw into the future. It made sense to Otis and he was the only one in the family that had this talent. One day when Otis was eight, he was playing out in the fields near the dark forest that never seemed to be light and cheery. Chrysander, his younger brother was with him and they were playing around, just being kids and having fun. It got dark out and Otis stopped dead and had a vision that a vampire was going to attack littler Chrysander and turn him into a vampire. Trying not to panic, Otis told him it was time to go and headed out of the forest. But just as they were at the edge Otis heard footsteps and a second later saw the face of a vampire. Otis quickly picked up a rock and threw at the face. Not thinking, he picked up his little brother and ran to his house screaming for help the whole way.
But he didn't need help. The vampire didn't dare venture out past the forest and Otis and Chrysander were safe and sound. Not just three months later, their father lost his job. No one else would hire him in Greece, but a job offer was open in France. It was the only option they had, so they packed up and moved to France. When they first moved there, they didn't understand anyone. They didn't speak french one bit. They knew some English, but that was it. It was a hard first year, but they got by. Plus, they heard of a school for witches and wizards in France and hoped their children would get accepted. When Atlas was ten, he got a letter and was accepted into Beauxbatons. It was a happy day for the Barberis family. Otis was all physched up for when it was his turn, and that day came just a year later. Just a year after Otis had been at Beauxbatons, finally his father had a break through with his job and soon moved back to Greece and built a new home near the beach and have thus far been a bit more successful in life.

p a l l o s barberispallos was a strong believer in his fate. being the oldest of three children, pallos knew that he would get the worst of it. and he did. he had married at a young age of seventeen and had his first child at the age of eighteen. he never regretted any of his choices, but soon the hardships of running a farm and a family were getting to him. it had seemed that the gods were not in his favor after there was a drought two summers in a row. pallos was forced into bankruptcy and had to move locations for a bit. it was over in france that they had found an opportunity for their children, but pallos soon found a small island to rekindle his farm. at the age of thirty-nine, pallos is finally finding luck, but they are still considered very poor with having to pay for school.
[/blockquote][/blockquote][/color] d o r o t h e a barberis[/size] dorothea and her family had always known about the barberis curse and were to stay away from that generation of children. dorothea had always rolled her eyes at how people gossiped about when their children would become rich and when they were going to be poor. nobody's parents wanted their children to become poor. dorothea and thought the same, but then had met pallos unknowing that he was a barberis. dorothea had always been considered a greek beauty with her sharp cheek bones and her dark hair. he was the most humble man she had ever met and his smile had her captivated. when she did find out that he was a barberis, she instantly knew she didn't care about how much money she had. when she did marry him at the age of seventeen, people thought she was being reckless in her youth. she could have been a great healer if she hadn't married pallos, but dorothea cared for him too much. at times it was hard, but dorothea had to be optimistic for her family and could see the light at the end of the tunnel when they moved to seriphos.
[/color] a t l a s barberisatlas has never been able to stay in one place for very long. he needed to be constantly moving and grew impatient very easily. he wanted to see the world and after going to school at beauxbatons for a bit as a sournois, atlas decided to go out and fullfill his dreams. for awhile, he hadn't seen his family. he only wrote to them and sent back exotic gifts from the places he traveled. the only problem with traveling the world was the money. atlas soon ran out and found a job at beauxbatons as an accountant at the age of twenty one. it was the longest atlas had stayed put in one place since living in his hometown. it was here that he become closer to his brother, otis and one particular librarian. atlas had never stuck to just one woman either. he lived the life of a single man. it would all soon come to an end when atlas became a father to teddy keller's child. something odd had happend where one of the twins was his and the other, another man's. atlas has tried his best to be a good father since and went off to live with his wife and children somewhere else.
[/blockquote][/blockquote] s o f i a barberissofia had always been the sweet but quiet one. she was very modest and very much like her older brother otis. sofia was a pushover though and would rather not take the center of attention. at the age of sixteen, she had attended beauxbatons twice, but both times went back home. it was hard being away from her twin sister whom she loved dearly. her parents weren't made of money either, so sofia knew she could get taught by her brother or her aunt who was a teacher.
[/blockquote][/blockquote] s o n y a barberis[/font] sonya was always the boss of the two twins. she liked to take charge and was very forward about things. she was often seen as feisty and sarcastic. she didn't like how she had to explain everything to her sister, but sonya liked that she thought she was smarter than sofia. sonya had never gone to beauxbatons, but was jealous that her parents thought sofia deserved an education over sonya. as much as she hated to admit it, it was hard living without your twin sister that you did everything with. she was forced to talk to chrysander, but thankfully sofia came back to stay for good.
[/blockquote][/blockquote] c h r y s a n d e r barberis[/font] chrysander has always been the odd one out in his eyes. atlas and otis and sofia and sonya always did everything together and chrysander was left to be the third wheel. he turned to books that otis owned and eventually went in search of other books from the market. he surrounded himself with knowledge. he's intensely quiet and has a problem with being social, but chrysander has sharp eyes and a memory that even otis would be jealous of. chrysander was next in line to attend beauxbatons after sofia didn't want to go anymore. chrysander hadn't made a big deal out of it, but he felt as if he belonged in a school that was full of knowledge. when he first arrived, he had no clue that otis was back from his internship over in england, so he figured he was here by himself. when he did find out his older brother was here, chrysander was a bit disappointed. he was hoping he could start fresh without anybody knowing who he really was.

current relationships [atrb=border,0,true] matthew amherst after otis had a vision of the two meeting and making that happen, otis and mattie had gotten along real well. and i mean really well. otis has always been one for sticking to the rules since he had been a prefect and head boy at one point. he had his tiny adventures here and there, but as soon as mattie came along, otis had lost all the innocence he had left. mattie became a bad influence on otis, but otis liked the thrills. the two have been partners in crime and best friends since and currently stands as his only guy mate.
