Her favorite spot in the entire castle was the Captivating Gardens. There was something natural and raw to them. It was like no matter how many people maintained it or cared for it, there was a wild quality to it. Some flowers would grow so large and others would hide away. They did as they wanted no matter how the caretakers tried to manipulate them. Noemi could appreciate that. She loved the pure beauty of it all. She just felt normal when she was there, it was a strange thing, and she was fully aware, but she could not deny the enjoyment she got from being there. She was always smiling and if she ever felt too depressed, which happened more often than not, she knew that she could just walk here and immediately feel relaxed.
She wrapped herself in a sweater that went past her bottom, and covered her. She was snuggled into it and if she had a blanket, she would have wrapped herself in that as well. Alas, her blankets were lying beside her bed because she obviously did not even think about making her bed once she got out of it this morning. Noemi woke up as if it was any other day. She put her school robes on and her wand was in her pocket. She did as every other student, and went to the great hall for breakfast. She ate, gossiped and went off to class with her friends. She paid attention, raised her hand and took notes, but she was also passing notes to her friends in the class. Noemi even went to the library to read up on some things, but then the work all of a sudden got to be too much. She realized how much she actually had to do, so instead of doing it, she went here.
She ran away from all the responsibility to enjoy an afternoon at the Gardens. Everyone else was doing what she was supposed to by studying, and it left the area practically deserted. Noemi was hating herself because she knew that she was going to just freak out even more when she went back to finish her work, but this seemed like such a good decision. She was surrounded by such unique flowers. She felt like she was at home. Her mother used to keep a garden in their old home, and sometimes she thought of her mother's spirit taking care of the flowers here just for her baby girl. Noemi smiled at the thought of her mother. It scared her because the details of her were practically gone. She barely remembered anything, so all she did was imagine her. She filled in the gaps that her memory was leaving. Noemi bent down to look at a rose, it was wilting and in desperate need. She ran her hands across its soft petals and stood back up. Deciding to let it be and let it die on its own.
