THIS IS HOW I SHOW MY LOVE
[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 355px;]Life had never exactly been easy for Mórrígan, but the past several months had really taken their toll on her. She was so ready for things to get back to normal now. The thing was that everything had gotten so messed up along the way that she wasn't entirely sure was 'normal' entailed any more. She'd lost her father and she had never thought that it would bother her, but it had and very much so – she wasn't even capable of bringing herself to go home for the first couple of months.
Instead, she'd gone to Ireland, to the place she had once called home and isolated herself there. She had hidden away for months on end in the run down building, using the cellar once a month for her transformations and spending the rest of her time sifting through all the bits and pieces of her life that still remained in that house after so many years of being away from it. The more she looked, the worse she felt – it honestly took a lot of her to not just burn the place down and walk away.
With everything salvageable boxed up, she returned to the Masen residence in France and was promptly smothered by her family. It took a couple of months for her to warm up to being around people again, regardless of how they were family. It was only when she got used to the idea of being around them that she realised that she had missed people and various other things – she'd missed home, she'd missed her family, she missed school, she missed her friends, she missed...Oh God, Nathaniel!
For months, something unexplainable had tugged at the back of her mind, particularly around the full moon, and it was only when she had returned to France that she found the clarity of what it was. She had missed Nathaniel, she had missed him so much. She'd up and left him, she'd up and left everyone for that matter and she had disappeared again without so much as any form of explanation. What kind of person did that make her? Really?
After that point, the decision to return to school was made much easier for her. She needed her friends, she needed Nathaniel, she couldn't keep hiding. Sure, she had no idea what to expect upon her return to school, but she wouldn't know until she tried. The new term was starting, so she could easily blend in with the other returning students, but then what exactly? Where did she go from there having been away for as long as she had been?
All she had brought with her was her personal belongings – like her clothes and her diary, along with a few essential pieces of school equipment – having left instructions with her mother as to the things she needed for school. She'd be getting everything else in a few days. She just hadn't wanted to overload herself in bringing everything back with her at once. She had lucked out in being able to get her own lonely dorm room back, but she didn't exactly spend long in there.
She remained in the room as long as she could tolerate the confinement, which was about as long as it took for her to unpack what little she had brought with her before rushing out of the dormitories, straight through the common room, up through the school and out into the grounds. Standing at the top of the grounds, she paused, inhaling deeply, bright eyes scanning around. The Masen house wasn't home, this was. It had taken her return to realise that.
She bounded down the grounds, heading straight to the forest, to one of her favourite places at the school – Moonstone Bridge. She slowed right down when she reached it, eyes lifting and looking around in fascination, all of the old memories and feelings flooding back to her. She inhaled deeply again, a familiar scent catching her attention, looking around frantically for the source of it and then, for the first time in months, she smiled. |

theres a thunder in our hearts baby so much hate for the ones we love TAG: MORRIGAN OUTFIT: HERE ONE LAST THING: Yeah it's good. Sorry I took long. All morning Nathaniel had been rummaging through his things, trying to decide what was good enough to keep or throw away. He should have done these months ago while he was still at home. It's bothersome to hold on to holey shirts and socks or notebooks that were two or three years old. But Nathaniel liked those old things. They could come in handy one day...or not. He definitely needed to get rid of things and start anew. With each item he evaluated its worth, how nostalgic he felt with it, and if it's really something he needed rather than wanted. The majority of his apparel went, but he could only blame himself for not keeping them tidy enough to last long. He's a werewolf! It's not like he could keep away from the woods, transforming, or exercising. However, this would give him the opportunity to shop more.
It took him hours to finally get through the thicket of his trunk, closet, and dresser. A lot was thrown out, but that made more room for him to fill. And for some reason he felt a weight lifted off his shoulders. Although there was still that darkness that lay over him, but he had been dealing with that on his own day by day. It drew him into depression every time he thought about it, which is why he kept himself busy every day with some sort of task. Nathaniel had to keep moving forward or he would just revert back into a recluse. His blue eyes scanned his room, which had a lot of open space, but he felt enclosed-suffocated for the same reason his mind had been avoiding. He knew of her return, but hadn't sought out for her. Nathaniel was unsure of how to react to it when several months have passed.
Nathaniel knew that one day she would come back. All the students were slowly returning these past few weeks. At first he was surprised to see the many faces he grew to know these past several years. Some he hadn't seen for a year and they would just pop up. The great thing was that his friendships with some of these people continued as if time had never stopped for them. They picked up where they left off. But could he do the same with her? Nathaniel never stopped loving her, but not knowing where she went or why she left for that matter without a word just hurt him. He waited for something, anything that she would send him to say that she was fine and he didn't have to worry. Of course that wouldn't stop him from worrying, but he knew that she would be dealing with whatever business she had. He could understand that.
But nothing from Morrigan for months had Nathaniel stressed. He'd stress himself into transforming even when there wasn't a full moon. His sisters had to intervene to get him back into shape. He was a mess and a fool, but with the help of his sisters he was able to gather himself together, just enough to make it back to school. And from there on out he had help from friends to keep his mind occupied with things like games, trivia, and school. But those walls he built were beginning to shake the moment he realized she came back. It was more than just her scent that rattled him, but her mind and the nearness of her that made him vulnerable again. He wasn't sure how he would act around her or what he was capable of doing when he saw her.
So Nathaniel left his room, the hallways, the castle, and distanced himself far enough in the woods where he knew he would be alone. Not all the students would venture into these woods unless they wished some sort of bad luck upon themselves. It was dangerous...unless you knew it well enough or could protect yourself. Nathaniel had no problems with it because it was his like his home when those transformation nights interrupted his normal student life. The great part about it was that he wouldn't be alone because there were others like him that suffered as much. Nathaniel went deeper into the woods until he was within some distance to the Moonstone Bridge. Her scent caught him off guard and his eyes quickly looked up in her direction. She may have been yards away, but he could see her perfectly from where he stood.
His first reaction was to run off and hide, avoid her for the rest of the day...and maybe a few more days. He felt like a little child, wanting to hide from someone they didn't know what to say to. He was at lost for words! Nathaniel felt a mix of emotions, some good and others bad. Actually he felt like having a panic attack right now. He swallowed thickly, glancing back up again at her and examining her features. She looked the same as before, but prettier from what he remembered. Nathaniel hoped they wouldn't meet this soon, but he couldn't avoid it now that she's caught his scent. It took a few strides, but he was there in no time and crossed that bridge to stand next to her.
He really couldn't form any sentence that would make sense for him to say to her upon their first meeting since she upped and left. Should he be sweet about it or stern? How do people do these reunions!? His heart was racing and his palms were getting sweaty. He felt shy and nervous, but also he felt a little fire in the pit of his stomach. His head hurt...a lot. Running his fingers through his mussed hair, he looked to her for another moment and then averted away. "I thought you were never coming back..." his voice strained a little. “I also thought I would never see you again. I thought of a lot of things...and you never gave me a single word or notion that you were okay. I didn't need to know the details Morgs because I know it was personal, but something...anything would have given me some ease these past several months."

THIS IS HOW I SHOW MY LOVE
[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 355px;]Mórrígan didn't expect things to go right back to how they were, particularly with Nathaniel. She had wanted to write to him every day, but for the first few months, she wasn't allowed any outside contact, then, after that, she simply convinced herself that she shouldn't bother any of her friends, let alone Nathaniel. She was an idiot. She knew that all too well now, now that she was able to breathe warm air and be out in the real open once again.
Sensing his approach, her stomach bubbled with nervous anticipation mixed with an almost overwhelming sort of excitement. Her smile faltered and faded away as she noticed his hesitation. She really shouldn't have expected anything less from him. It was the very least she deserved. She let out a soft breath, bringing herself to look away and move towards the railing, suddenly feeling completely wobbly, like her legs were going to just give out underneath her, right there and then.
Her fingers tightened their grip on the bridge's railing as she listened to him walking towards her finally, unable to bring herself to look up at him now, her heart pounding in her chest and her throat nervously closing up as she looked down at the water in an attempt to calm herself. She'd pretty much planned a whole bunch of things to say to him when she finally saw him, but now that he was here, all of the explanations, the apologies, it all just disappeared.
She let out another soft breath before she allowed herself to speak. “Honestly...I didn't think I was ever coming back...” she said in a rather distant tone. “I didn't think I'd make it,” she added, partly correcting herself. It had always felt like a fine line between whether she would be able to make it back after everything she had been through and whether she would want to come back once she had recovered, if she recovered. Luckily for her, it had just been a case of waiting it out.
She had hated the idea of never seeing him again, but she had had the same thoughts, even though she knew where she could find him. “I trust you, Nathaniel, and I hate the idea of lying to you, even by omission,” she began in response to his point about how she could have given him something, anything. “I knew if I told you what was happening, where I was, you would have insisted that I come back, even if it was just to France and not school, but I couldn't, I had to help him...”
“Alternatively, I thought you would have come to find me had I told you and I didn't want to put you through that,” she went on. She, like he had, had thought a hell of a lot of things in her time away. “I knew you would worry either way,” she stated, which probably didn't help her case much at the moment. “But I shouldn't have made it worse by not trying and I can't express just how sorry I am...” she added, bringing herself to finally look up at him.
“Hate me if that makes it easier,” she offered, her voice leaning towards being flat via saddened tones. “I'd rather you hate me than nothing me,” she explained. She hated the idea of him feeling nothing towards her, even in comparison to blinding hate. “Being with you wasn't easy, so this shouldn't be either,” she continued, shrugging a little. “Although, honestly, the challenge of you just made me like it more,” she added with a very small, easily missed smile.
She shifted slightly, turning to him, one hand still holding her up as she leant against the railings. “I wanted to talk to you every day, I really did,” she explained, her voice wavering. She swallowed before she allowed herself to continue. She wouldn't cry – she couldn't do that to him because she didn't want him to feel guilty for provoking the reaction. “But I guess that doesn't really make up for the fact I didn't talk to you even once...” Her voice trailed off as she dropped her gaze.
“All I can do is offer my deepest apologies and try and explain what happened, try and make you understand why I couldn't tell you,” she offered, lifting her head and tilting it slightly as she looked up at him. “However, I understand completely if you don't want to hear it, if you'd rather leave it at this and walk away,” she added. She didn't want him to walk away, but she couldn't force him to stay if he'd rather not get the long winded explanation of her absence. |
