[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,300,true] you gotta swim, don’t let yourself sink just find the horizon,
... Spring had finally arrived as flowers bloomed all around the grounds. Shaking the last bit of frost from their colorful bodies every inch of the castle looked as if it was out of a dream. An ethereal aura clung to the air, tickling her skin and tumbling strands of her hair around. She wondered how much she blended into the scenery with blonde hair. Grimacing slightly Tinley stared at a large chunk of it unused to how different it looked. Without her red hair she felt bare, unlike herself even after so many months. Trust her to screw up one spell enough to blast her crimson locks to Timbuktu. While she had been assured by the school nurse, as well as many many many hairdressers, that her hair would soon return to its natural hue Tinley found the change strange, odd, and entirely unfamiliar.
Laying on her back, she stared up at the sky that was no longer cloaked by gray clouds. Her day had been quite nice, a few moments spent with Klaus, others with a new book he father had sent her and the rest lounging around the castle. Sitting up Tinley wondered what she could do with the rest of her evening. Mid-thought it occurred to her that she asked herself this question way too often. Almost every time she went outside of the castle in fact and she wondered how much of a good or bad thing this was. Mulling over a few options it finally came to her: Exploration. That was what she spent most of her time doing when she went outside and Tinley found it quite enjoyable. There were her usual haunts of course: the Towers, the Oak tree, the stables, etc. There were a few she rarely visited mostly because she was often too lazy to meander back and forth.
Then a thought hit her, not once had she ever taken a real good look around the Groundskeeper's hut. Most students tended to keep away from it for two reasons: If a class wasn't being held there and there usually wasn't much of a point without an actual Groundskeeper. Shrugging once she figured a little poking around wouldn't hurt. Picking herself up, she dusted off her clothes, grabbed her discarded shoes and shuffled off into the direction of the tiny hut.

Senseless Denial, We spun like birds on fire right down towards the residence and i I took all that I desired even crooks have to pay the rent We swam like rats on fire right, right down the reservoir We took all that we could carry but we tried to carry more As the months wore on Asahria was finding herself out on the castle ground more with each passing today. She’d secluded herself for too long within the confines of the shadowed corridors. While the memories were becoming fewer and farther in between, she still shied from the places where memories ran deep. The outdoors had become somewhat of an escape for her, they weren’t lingering with the memories of things long past. Whereas the castle held many corridors she avoided, there was only one place here on the grounds that brought his face to surface. As lovely as the weather had been, she’d not gone near the lake, choosing to stay away from the shadow of the giant oak and the memories which clung to its bark. It’d been a year past now, but still she could feel the guilt rushing through her veins. Asahria didn’t think she’d ever forgive herself, as it was likely she’d never have the chance to make things right. She pushed the dusted memories to the back of her brain, instead reveling in a breath of fresh air. She was warming with the seasons. It had taken her sometime to realize that things were not so bad as she had made them out to be. Asahria was back where she belonged, Beauxbaton’s had always been her home and it was finally starting to feel comfortable again. It had helped when she’d returned to old friends – Scarlett in particular. There were others of course, but Scarlett had always been her dearest friend. While it had been a painful time for them both, Asahria was glad that they’d been given the opportunity to heal together. A slim smile crossed her lips and she pushed her blonde curls back behind her ears as the wind tugged at them gently. Smoothing her dress over her thighs, Asahria brightened as her eyes turned on the forest, alive with new growth. It hadn’t been so long ago that she’d traipsed the dark depths with Noemi – and for the first time. Asahria had been worried then. The lifelessness had left her feeling vulnerable and cold and she’d forsaken any signs of regrowth. It would seem that with the changing seasons, she too was able to come back to life again. It was what she’d been missing for far too long - the spark of life. Hugging her arms around her waist, Asahria felt her gaze pull to the left at a sudden movement. She paused in her steps, to see a girl – barefoot, walking towards the hut. Intrigued, she started to follow without a second thought. Weeks before she’d found herself at the hut, and just as before it had been empty. The school had been without a groundskeeper for some time. It wasn’t often that one found a particular reason to venture to the hut, unless classes were taking place, but Asahria found that it was particularly relaxing – settled on the forests edge as it was. As she neared, Asahria looked at the girl in confusion. She recognized the girls features, but something seemed out of place. Tinley, is that you? She questioned as she neared the girl. A friend, quidditch player, and fellow prefect – Asahria felt fairly convinced that it was indeed Tinley. Your hair is different. She said in sudden recognition, noting that the girls fiery red lock had been replaced with a gleaming blonde similar to her own. Tagged: Tinley Notes: Bad start, sorry. |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,300,true] you gotta swim, don’t let yourself sink just find the horizon,
... Spinning around, Tinley smiled widely as Asahria approached, and chuckled as she pointed out her hair. "Um yeah." she started her cheeks deepening in color. "Spell gone bad." She sated simply, running a hand through her hair. If there was one thing about herself that Tinley would love to change, it was her knack for being wrong at the most inopportune moments; such as when attempting to do charms homework. "Anyway, how are you?" She asked her friend. A fellow prefect and Quidditch mate the two girls had grown pretty close over the last few weeks, something Tinley was grateful for. Obviously they hadn't seen each other at all over the break and the change in Tinley's appearance had come as a surprise to her friend.
"Where you headed into the hut?" she asked, realizing too late that might have been a silly question. She could have been taking a walk around the grounds, or intending on spending some time in the woods unlike Tinley who seemingly found it normal to be peeping into the windows of a staff member. "I was just...looking around." she admitted, rubbing the back of her neck. She didn't have anything to really be ashamed for, since the groundskeeper spent most of his time away from the hut really and it wasn't as if Asa would hold anything against her. Once again over-thinking things, Tinley let the awkwardness die before opening her mouth to speak again.
"Lovely day isn't it? I'd been relaxing over by the woods after my walk and decided why not enjoy a bit of investigating." Wiggling her eyebrows, she smiled and leaned against the wall of the hut. "I've never actually been here, only admired it from a distance when in class, really." Staring up, she noted how welcoming it looked, it's small form and haggard appearance looking more inviting than it did intimidating. "Don't call me crazy but I find it to be rather charming." She said, running a hand over the rough wooden door. "I wonder what it looks like inside." Standing on her toes, she attempted to peer inside the windows again, hoping she wouldn't get into trouble somehow.
Circling around the structure, she stopped in front of the door, wrapping her fingers around the handle of the door. With a small tug, she pulled the heavy door open. "Oh, well I suppose this helps answer that query." she said with a small chuckle. Pulling her shoes on, she waved Asahria over before disappearing inside.

Senseless Denial, We spun like birds on fire right down towards the residence and i I took all that I desired even crooks have to pay the rent We swam like rats on fire right, right down the reservoir We took all that we could carry but we tried to carry more Asahria was relieved when Tinley turned in response to her name, acknowledging that she had been correcting in assuming the girl was who she thought she was. She’d been fairly certain, but the color of her hair had been more than enough to throw her off – it’s usually brilliant red now a shade of golden blonde. Asahria couldn’t help but laugh as a blush crept into her cheeks as she explained. Having some trouble with Charms are we? She teased the girl, curling her own golden locks between her fingers. We could nearly be twins. Better watch out on the pitch or you might end up with the chaser in hand.Of course they had their own distinguishing features, but she wouldn’t doubt it might be hard to tell them apart from a distance. She had grown close to Tinley over the past few weeks, with them both having secured a position on the quidditch team and with Asahria regaining her position as a fellow prefect. She had quickly become familiar company and someone Asahria was glad to call a friend, but even still the stark contrast in color had thrown her.
I’ve been well, just a bit restless. She noted, as was obvious considering she was meandering the grounds aimlessly. This was the second time in just a few short weeks that she’d found herself standing at the stairs of the hut, for no other reason that she wasn’t sure what else she should be doing. Asahria had been avoiding the palace hallways and places that she’d found comfort in when she’d first arrived as she was trying to keep the memories from invading her thoughts. The guilt she felt was bad enough, she didn’t want to be drowning in memories as well. The hut seemed as safe a place as any, considering she’d never spent any amount of time in its wake. She wasn’t so sure she’d ever even met the groundskeeper in her time here before and she knew they’d been lacking one for some time. Oh, no. She responded to Tinley, as she asked if she were heading into the hut. It had not really been her intention. I was just extremely restless and the palace is so suffocating in the springtime. I really don’t know what I was doing to tell you the truth. What about you? She asked, wondering how her friend had come to occupy the space.
Again she laughed when Tinley shyly admitted to the fact that she’d just been searching around. Inverstigating? She said raising a curious brow. Is there finally a new groundskeeper? She asked, her blue eyes turning to the hut, taking in it’s rustic charm. Tinley was right, it really was a lovely day. The trees were covered in shrouds of green and patches of wildflowers had just begun to fight their way towards the sun, creating a pattern of color splashes. Or did you just want to peek inside? While it had never occurred to her before, Asahria too was curious by what was inside the hut. She’d never met any of the groundskeepers, nor had she had the chance to even glimpse inside. You’re hardly crazy. I’ve always found it charming… I’d just otherwise given it very little thought. Taking a place beside Tinley she tried to peer inside, but realized she could see very little.
You don’t think there is anyone inside do you? The words had barely left her lips before she realized that Tinley was no longer at her side. Stepping down from her place at the side of the cabin she hurried after the girl, looking to the top of the cabin to see if any smoke was raising from the chimney, as far as she could tell the place was empty. As she rounded the building, she barely caught a glimpse of Tinley’s foot before she disappeared into the doorway. With one last glance over her shoulder, Asahria followed her inside, gently shutting the door behind her. What if someone is in here… we won’t get in trouble will we? Asahria asked, her voice barely a whisper as she gazed upon the quaint furnishings.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,300,true] you gotta swim, don’t let yourself sink just find the horizon,
... Laying a hand on top of her head, Tinley felt her face grow hot and giggled awkwardly. "Just a slight mishap, nothing that won't fade it time. It's not too bad you know, maybe it might offer us an advantage on the pitch though." She felt quite ridiculous sporting blonde hair. It felt as if a wig had been super glued on and she felt out of place. More so looking at Asa. It wasn't that her friend made her feel bad it was that she carried the looked so much nicer. Tinley wasn't used to wearing clothes that she didn't have to carefully plan out, making sure not to clash horrendously with her flaming red hair and, if she was honest, she missed it. "The nurse told me I could try and undo the damage but I wasn't willing to risk it. Imagine if my hair just fell out." Clutching her locks she let a look of horror cross her features. If someone didn't know her, they'd call her foolish for being concerned over something as silly as hair but to those that understood her, they knew it was easily the thing made Tinley who she was. Her whole personality seemed to based upon her hair and it deep shade of crimson.
Letting her hands fall to her side, she abandoned her terrifying thoughts as Asa answered her question. A look of concern caused her to frown and she crossed over towards her friend. It seemed as if things nor time had been kind to her housemate and Tinley couldn't help but feel inclined to comfort her. She knew from their little conversations while on prefect duty that she'd been having a bad hand the last few months so Tinley was willing to take her mind off her troubles. And sneaking into the hut seemed like perfect way to do just that. The words of Asahria had definitely caused warning bells to sound of in her head but she chose to ignore them for the time being. "No, I don't think anyone does." She knew a new a groundskeeper had been hired but as it was the weekend, she supposed he'd postponed moving in. Or at least that was conclusion she would draw up for herself. As for getting into trouble Tinley could do nothing but shrug and say, "Probably will. But we're only looking and we'll be gone before anyone comes back." Normally she wasn't too much of rule breaker especially not after acquiring her Prefect status but Tinley felt that a person had to break free of the regime once in while. Otherwise going barking mad was sure to happen. It was the facts of life.
As the moved in further, Tinley slipped on her shoes as the floor was cold and pieces of wood splintered up from the floorboards. A bed lay cold and empty near that wall. The fireplace looked as if it hadn't been used in a while and she was sure the rocking chair that sat in front of it was only verge of collapse. Otherwise the whole hut looked cozy and held of lot of potential to be quite lovely. "Obviously a bit rundown but otherwise entirely charming." She whispered excitedly, brushing a few cobwebs from one of the books near lying on the mantle. "I wonder if anyone has been in here at all." It had been about a year (as far as Tinley knew) since they'd seen an actual person inhabit the place and time had apparently worked much faster here. Pulling her wand out, she held it in front of her. "Lumos," she muttered and passed the light over the rest of the hut. Now with enough light to see, she crossed over and pushed open the nearest window. Sunlight flooded into the room and warmed the place up a bit. Passing her wand over a few of the books the spiderwebs ebbed away until it looked as if they'd never been there.
"Someone must really enjoy Shakespeare," she said, holding up Titus Andronicus so that Asahria could see. There were a few other works of his lying scattered about but other than that she found a fair few Wizarding books. Tapping the top of the rocking chair she repaired it and watched until the last crack of wood became smooth and strong. "I'm pleasantly surprised. The place is extremely interesting." Turning towards her friend, she let a serious look steal her smile. "I promise if we get into any trouble I won't let you take the fall." Grinning at her again, she pointed her wand at the worn couch. The color that had been stolen by time suddenly bloomed across the old fabric. Oranges, blues, reds and yellows all brought the broken piece of furniture to life again. She gingerly tested her weight on the couch (she'd only ever tried that spell once before) Tinley collapsed onto it when she felt it was indeed safe. "In the meantime," she said, cracking open a book, "might as well make some use out of these." Holding the book up to the streaming light she read off the title, "Sonnets of a Sorcerer. That sounds promising." Peeling open the pages, she glanced at the rest of the heap on the floor. "I do hate it when books lie wasted. A knife right in my heart."

Senseless Denial, We spun like birds on fire right down towards the residence and i I took all that I desired even crooks have to pay the rent We swam like rats on fire right, right down the reservoir We took all that we could carry but we tried to carry more Running a hand through her own golden locks, Asahria bit her lip slightly as she watched the color rise in Tinley’s cheeks accompanied by her uncomfortable giggle. While the look was not bad on her fellow rouerie, it was definitely a change and one she was sure Tinley was still growing accustomed to. The girls fiery locks were as much a part of her as her personality. Asahria couldn’t imagine trying to grow accustomed to such a change, stringing her fingers through her golden strands she couldn’t imagine them being any other color. What’s that they say, blondes have more fun? She said awkwardly, tossing her own hair back behind her a shoulder. Perhaps you can test it out for a while. You know find the truth behind the lore and hey maybe you’re right. She said with a smile Maybe we could use it to our advantage. They’d never know what hit them. At least you can play it up till you get those red locks back. She found herself laughing once more at Tinley’s horrified expression, the thought of losing her hair too much to bear.
Asahria suddenly wished she’d answered differently when a frown pulled at her friend’s lips. It seemed more and more she was being met with this response when in the company of a friend and Asahria was beginning to wonder if it was stemming from pity rather than actual concern. She had been back at the school for months and she’d still not managed to settle. It seemed more and more that returning had been a mistake. In leaving she’d already faced the pain of losing all those she cared about, but in returning she’d just been forced upon constant reminders. She found herself sighing in relief though when Tinley spoke again, glad that she’d chosen not to question her. Still, Asahria wasn’t sure she was ready to talk, in fact, she didn’t know what there was to say. It was comforting that Tinley opted for a distraction than trying to take her problems head in. Not yet anyways. She said simply. She was sure there had been news of a new hire, but it didn’t look as though Tinley were wrong. Honestly it looked as though the place had been abandoned for some time. Despite her nagging concern that they might get caught, Asahria couldn’t deny the fact that she was curious. She’d always wondered what was hidden behind those closed doors. Back before she’d left Asahria had not been one to break rules, but it seemed to be happening more and more frequently, even after having regained her title as a prefect. Right, let’s go. She said with a smile, stepping in behind Tinley.
The air was musty, surely from being trapped in the rundown cabin with not so much as a visitor. Looking around she felt comfortable in the small setting, quaint with the exception of being particularly rundown. This place could surely use some company. I hate to see such a place abandoned. Asahria said in response, her fingers trailing through the dust on a nearby window, offering a small sliver of light entrance to the otherwise dark room. It doesn’t look like anyone has been here at all. Funny, here in a few weeks this will all be different. Perhaps the new owner would brush some life back into this place, seemingly forgotten by the rest of the school. As she turned a corner she heard Tinley mutter a soft spell, alight filtering into the hut, pushing back the shadows. An open window, that is what the place needed. She said with a short laugh, thankful for the breath of fresh air.
Following Tinley’s lead, Asahria wandered about cleaning up a few odds and ends as she went, finding herself distracted by the few scattered items which remained in the house. Perhaps, they were a rouerie at heart. She smiled, grabbing a book from a nearby shelf, finding it to be yet another Shakespeare work. I doubt anyone will be come looking. It looks far to abandoned and besides I’m sure we could easily find our way out of it. She said, finding herself more comfortable with the idea now that the two of them had found their way inside. It was a bit like uncovering a lost treasure. A small cupboard door was swinging off it’s hinges. Leaning down Asahria uttered a quick spell, the door pulling itself back into place allowing it to swing open. Apparently the last owner was fond of butterbeer. She laughed, pulling out a stock of unopened bottles. I wonder how old these are? She said, just before hearing Tinley reading off the cover of yet another book she’d found lying abandoned.
Well lucky they had two rogueries to come across them. She laughed, peering over Tinley’s shoulder as she opened the book, flipping through the pages. Perhaps we should give them some good use.
