Night Wanderer - Open

[Lily Lockhart]

<sub>Lily walked out onto the Beauxbatons grounds, her long golden hair whipping lightly upon her face. She sat by her usual Oak Tree spot, and then dumped her bag onto the lush grass. What was so special about today, Lily thought. Something was bugging her, something was going to happen tonight. Lily wiped that thought out of her head. What so special could happen tonight? It seemed like any normal day at Beauxbatons. Lily sighed, and started ploughing though her homework.

When Lily finished, she packed her things away. It was now 9:00pm at night, but as it was summer it was just getting dark now. Lily ran up to the Cossu common room, knowing that she could get into deep trouble.

But not as much as she would tonight.

Lily went to her dorm and made a cup of Cocoa. Her friend, Amanda, was asleep. But Lily didn't want to sleep, not just yet. She sat on the edge of the bed, thinking hard on what she should do. Then it hit her. Didn't that Sixth Year girl tell her that there was something so great in the unused classroom, and for Lily to find it some time. Lily smirked, she was so curious on what could be in that room. But how can she get there unseen? Lily thought about this for a while, and then she knew what to do. Lily had an invisibility cloak, which she had got from her father! Lily could use this to go around the school unseen and see what was in the classroom!

Lily went under the bed and got her invisibility cloak, and making sure she was unseen, left the dorm.

Lily tiptoed on the balls of her feet, not wanting to make a sound. She was in The Great Hall now, and if she was caught now...

Lily stopped for a moment, taking the directions out of her pocket that Sixth Year had given her. Go up the tower, turn right, take a left turn and enter through the door.

Lily followed the directions, and made it to a door. She turned the door knob, and nothing happened. "Alohamora" Lily whispered, making the door unlock. As Lily entered, she saw chairs and tables put to the side of the wall. Then, looking at the middle in the middle of the room, Lily saw a massive mirror. It had cobwebs on it, and looked at though it needed a good clean. Lily took off the cloak and went up to the Mirror. Was this a kind of joke that the girl made up, because if it was, Lily would...Hang on a minute. Lily could see something in the Mirror. She didn't see herself, but her father. Her father died while doing an experiment in his lab, and Lily missed him dearly, but why was he in the Mirror. She sat down, as Lily saw her father wave fondly at her.</sub>

Amy woke up with a start. It was 9:05 and she had been woken up by someone. She looked to her side. Her friend Lily wasn't there so it had probably been her who woke up the twelve year old. Amy was bord, so she lifted her heels and hovered to the great hall wearing her brother's invisibility cloak. She knew that she would never be found when hiding this way.

Amy peeked out from under the cloak. She saw some foot prints. They appeared to be the prints of Lily's socks! Amy followed them and ended up in the classroom section of the school. They led her into a vacant classrooom. It was vacant, except that it had a large mirror and... Lily!

"Lily? Is that you?" she asked the girl who was looking into the mirror. Amy slowly walked up to it. In the mirror was an image of her with her older sister Evelynne! Eve was not alive anymore. She had died when Amy was nine years old. She had been a Cossu at Beauxbatons. Amy rarely talked about her, as it made her awfully sad to think about.

<sub>Lily jumped for a start. Who was that Lily turned her head, and saw Amanda by the door! "What are you doing here!?" Lily hissed, not wanting to be heard. "Never mind that, come over here. It is the most oddest Mirror I have ever seen!"

As Amanda looked in it, Lily asked "What do you think it is?" She looked deeper into the Mirror. If only a teacher could tell her what the Mirror was and what it was doing...

Lily kept seeing her Dad in the same portrait. She touched the Mirror, as if he would come out and touch her back. Suddenly, she heard footsteps, and quickly tapped Amanda. They both went under there Invisibility cloak, and Lily held her breath, hoping this person would not see them...</sub>

Amanda could easily see through her cloak. Outside of it was their charms teacher, Prifessor Sommer. A few minutes after he left, Amy threw off her cloak and began to talk quietly.

This is the mirror of erised! Desire spelled backwards. It shows one their greatest desire. I see me and my late older sister Evelynne. She died afew years back she said as a frown came to her face.

She used her wand to make a pillow for her to lie on. She thought that teachers may be patrolling the hallways. She conjured a bOok for her to read. It was a rather enjoyable novel called Harry Potter. This book made Amy nervous that muggles would find out about magic. Harry attended Hogwarts, a magic school in Scotland. Amyhad been there befor to visit an irish friend who attended school there.

Lily breathed, as Professor Sommer passed. They both took off their cloaks, and looked back at the Mirror. "This is the mirror of Erised! Desire spelled backwards. It shows one their greatest desire. I see me and my late older sister Evelynne. She died a few years back" Amanda had said. Lily felt sorry for Amanda. "When I look into the Mirror, I see my late father. He died when I was 11, because he got killed when doing an experiment."

Lily thought about this for a moment. "So, in this Mirror, we see our hearts most desire?" Lily flicked her wand, and made a big comfy looking pillow appear. She laid down on it, thinking about the Mirror.

If that shows your hearts desire, would that mean...could she be able to bring her Dad back? Maybe she needed to say a spell, or do something in this confined area. She sighed, and took a Chocolate Frog out of her bag, and asked Amanda if she wanted one.</sub>

Amanda frowned. She knew that Lily was wondering if she could some how bring her her father back to life. Amanda would have wondered this too, if she hadn't read so many books about the history of Beauxbatons. "We can't bring them back to life" she said to her friend as she noticed the disappointed look on her face. "But they will always be in our hearts" she added hoping this would make a difference.

Amanda pulled out her book and read to Lily. It clearly stated that the mirror shows neither knowledge or truth, and that it does not do to dwell on it's images. Amy hugged her friend who was still frowning.

Amy was also very sad, as the mirror had triggered memories of her sister. She remembered them playing quidditch together, and them shopping in Paradis. She also remember how she would play saxophone as Amy would play her clarinet. Amanda suddenly felt cold as a bad memory struck her. She was remembering a cold and gloomy quidditch day. They had been playing and suddenly some ex-death eaters swooped in. She had put up quite a fight, but lost in the end. Amy had been rescued by her mother just in time. This was her most frightful of memories. She started to cry as she told Lily about this incident.

<sub>Lily hugged her friend who was still crying "Shh, Its ok, she shall always be alive in your heart, My Dad died because he loved inventing new potions, but the potion fell on him..." Lily played back the tragic accident in her head. She was so fond of her Dad, but Lily knew that whats happened happened, and she can't get him back. "Have a Chocolate Frog" Lily passed Amanda a sweet, and then both girls put there attention back to the Mirror.

If only a teacher was here, Lily thought. Not to scold Lily, but to tell her about the Mirror. She was really curious.

Lily looked back at the Mirror, and this time saw a reflection of herself. Her Dad was behind her, his hand on Lily's shoulder. Lily smiled, knowing that her Dad is always watching over her.</sub>.

Amanda wiped a tear from her eye. Perhaps Lily was right. Evelynne would always be in the heart of every Jakobs. Except for maybe Emiliya. She was born after Eve had died. Amy remembered all of their good times.

Amy took out her wand and created some cocoa for her and Lily. She sat down on her pillow and continued reading about when Harry Potter discovered that he was a wizard. Poor Harry she thought. He had lost both of his parents and had to live with his evil uncle and cousin Dudley.

Amanda used Lumos to create a light to read with. She fell asleep after only a few minutes reading.

Amanda was reading a book about some wizard called Harry Potter, while Lily looked through the Mirror. Maybe her father had seen this Mirror when he was at Beauxbatons. Lily wondered what he would have seen if he did look into the Mirror.

After a few minutes, Amanda fell asleep. It was 11:00pm at night, but what if a teacher came and saw Amanda flat out on the floor while seeing Lily looking in the Mirror. Lily knew that she should leave, so she quietly woke Amanda up and they both went back to the dorms.

The next night Lily had come back, this time with Amanda at her heels. Lily threw off her cloak and ran towards the Mirror, just as eager to see it as yesterday.</sub>

Amanda tubbed her eyes in a tired fashion. It was 11:00 and Lily had waken Amanda up. They were under the invisibility cloak. Amanda soon realized where they were going. They were going to look in the mirror again because Lily wanted to see her father. Amy wanted to take a break from thinking about her sister Evelynne.

"I told you yesterday" Amy said to friend as she gave her a gentle tug towards the door. "It doesn't do to dwell on wishes and forget reality" she quoted from the Beauxbatons History book. She heard a creak and froze. Lily knew as well as her that a teacher was coming. They dived for the invisibility cloak.

Amy held her breath until the teacher left. She then made a pillow and started to read.

<sub>Lily looked into the Mirror, seeing her father again. She smiled, thinking about him. As Lily looked over her shoulder, she saw that Amanda was reading. Maybe Lily should go alone the next night, she didn't want to get Amanda in trouble just because Lily wanted to see her father again. So that is exactly what she did.

Lily tiptoed out of the dorm when Amanda was fast asleep. She knew the exact route now. Lily needed to thank that Sixth Year, now she can see her father all the time.

As Lily entered the room, she threw off her invisibility cloak and ran to the Mirror. Lily saw her Dad waving at her, and Lily smiled.</sub>

Amy woke up again in the middle of the night. Lily wasn't there so she figured that her friend was visiting her father's image again. She made some cocoa and brushed her hair. Perhaps she would visit her sister in the mirror. She threw on her invisibility cloak and lifted her heels. She began to veela hover down the stairs.

Amy made her way down all of the moving stairs and slowly opened the door to the unused classroom. Lily was speaking with her father's image.

Amanda walked over to the mirror. Inside it, her sister was smiling at her. Amy smiled back. It felt so good to see her sister whom she had not seen or spoken to in three years.

<sub>As Lily was talking to her Father, she saw Amanda enter the room. Amanda must of heard her leave to dorms, Lily thought. Lily continued to stare in the Mirror, and her Father was still there, this time a reflection of Lily next to him. They were grinning wildly, as if listening to every word Lily was telling them.

"Thats my friend, Amanda" Lily didn't actually speak to them out load, but through the mind."Remember the one I was telling you about?" The reflections nodded, and Lily grinned.

Lily continued to speak to the reflections, and completely forgot that Amanda was there.</sub>

Claire awoke from her dream and stared blankly around her small dorm. It was almost midnight. Bored out of her mind, Claire read her favorite paragraph in her Defense textbook.

When she had finished, Claire decided to visit the Mirror of Erised. She crept silently down the corridors and into her common room. Her heart pounded quickly as she nearly avoided capture. SHe finally arrived at the aged door to the room where the mirror was located.

Claire slowly opened the door and, in shock, gasped at the sight of her two friends, Amanda and Lily. "What a surprise!" she whispered. "It's me, Claire!"

Amanda whisper squealed when she saw her friend, Claire. She hadn't seen Claire in days and was starting to get worried. She walked over and hugged her friend.

"Hey, Claire! Guess what? I mastered vela hovering!" Vela hovering was a trick that Claire had taught Amy a few weeks ago. The trick was mostly for quarter, half, and full veelas. Amy was only one sixteenth but could do it pretty well.

Amy showed Claire the mirror. She wondered what her friend was seeing. Perhaps she was seeing her mother, as Amy saw her sister, and Lily had seen her father.
