I CAN STILL FEEL THE FLAMES Noir woke up with a start. "No!" she whispered. She rubbed her eyes. It was such a vivid dream. She tried to calm herself. It was just a nightmare. That wasn't going to happen to her. She was safe at Beauxbatons. No one was going to cast that horrid curse. She fell back onto her bed and stared up at the ceiling. She closed her eyes, trying to fall back asleep. Her efforts were in vain. She sat herself up with a sigh. It was impossible for her to fall asleep. Every time she closed her eyes, all she would see was fire. It was the one thing that she hated the most after that man. She adored her parents but could not think of how they could trust such a conman.
She sat on her bed a while, contemplating on what she should do now. There was no way that she was going to sleep. Perhaps, she should go for a walk. It was against the rules but she didn't care. She just needed to do something to clear her head. She put her slippers on to muffle her footsteps. She opened the door cautiously. At a certain point, it began to creak. Noir stood still, tense as she waited for any signs of movements. A few minutes passed without anything happening so she resumed her quest. She padded down the steps and opened the common room door quickly. She closed it softly behind her.
She wandered around the corridors aimlessly. Occasionally, she'd pause to listen for something in case a teacher was roaming the corridors. Finally, after going up countless of steps, she stood in front of the door. She wondered where this led to. It looked like it wasn't used much so it was most likely not a classroom. She pushed open the door, wincing when it creaked. Inside the room stood a mirror. The sight of it caused something to flash into her mind. At Hogwarts, she remembered there being a mirror. She just saw herself happy and with her older brother. She didn't see him often during her time at the boarding school since he was a few years ahead of her.
It was the Mirror of Erised. She walked over to it. In it, she saw her family waving back at her. Tears welled up in her eyes as she remembered the day they died. Her brother had casted the Fiendfyre Curse to kill himself but had not thought of the consequences. Her parents had roused her from her sleep and led her to safety. They tried to go back in to save her brother but they perished. She could just feel the fire licking at her feet and the heat that threatened to burn her. Suddenly, her memories stopped. She saw a girl with blonde hair. The girl was heading up the stairs to the Mirror. The vision stopped when she heard a creak. Noir turned to face the girl. Lily sat on the edge of her bed, her mind wandering pointlessly. Lily checked the time on her watch, and, according to her watch, it was 12:00am. She looked over for her friend Amanda, but Amanda was sound asleep. What could she do? Lily glanced at the walls, as if the answer was there. An idea hit her! Lily sometimes goes to the unused classroom to see her Father in the Mirror. Maybe she should go tonight. Lily jumped off her bed and dug into her bag to get her invisibility cloak. She pulled on the cloak and then tiptoed out of the dorm.
As Lily entered The Great Hall, she looked out of the window. It was a starless night with a half moon shining in the sky. Lily moved on and, missing a close call from the caretakers cat, approached the outside of the door, which was the entrance of the Mirror of Erised.
Lily took off her Invisibility cloak and put it in a bundle in her arms. She entered the door and saw an older girl in Sournois looking in the Mirror. They both stared at each other.

I CAN STILL FEEL THE FLAMES The hour struck twelve. All she could see were her parents and brother. They waved at her happily but there was certain underlying sadness in their eyes. Maybe, they felt bad about leaving her with Monsieur Fontaine. That man had abused her from the moment she entered his home. Barely a month passed before she ran away. She had to stay under the radar for a while before he stopped looking for her. She had found some work in England, despite being fifteen. She worked for her board and keep. She couldn't go back to Hogwarts. If they caught wind of her, they'd probably report her to Fontaine.
Feeling lost, she received a letter from Beauxbatons. It was the perfect solution to her problem. She needed a proper magical education and since she couldn't go to Hogwarts anymore, there was Beauxbatons. She remembered her father's story of the school. He always held it in high regard so it was probably the best choice. She packed her bag and headed back to France to go to Beauxbatons. Her thoughts were interrupted by the vision and the creak of a door. She wasn't visible at first. It was most likely the result of an Invisibility Cloak.
She stared at the girl for a moment and straightened up. It was an awkward silence. The two of them just stood there staring at each other. Finally, Noir cleared her mind and decided the best action for this situation. She was just going to veer any discussion of herself away. To distract the girl from any questions about herself, she beat the girl to it as she opened her mouth. "Who are you?" she asked, curious as to who the young child was and what house she was in. Awkward silence. Lily seemed to have lost her voice. She didn't seem to know what to say. Behind the girls shoulder, Lily could see her father and her own reflection waving at her. It had now been 2 years since Lily's father died. He had died while inventing a new potion, as it fell on him and he was rushed into hospital. Lily had cried and remained depressed when hearing that her Dad had died. He had taught her how to play Quidditch, and most other things, but otherwise he was great to be around with. Lily's Dad was her best friend, and she was devastated when he was gone.
Who are you?
The girl had finally spoken, probably because to break the silence. Lily looked up at the girl, right into her eyes. "Who are you?" Lily directed the question back at her, and the girl seemed taken aback.
Lily looked back into the Mirror, and this time her father and her own reflection were waving at Lily herself. If only her Dad had been a bit more careful, maybe he could still be here today.

I CAN STILL FEEL THE FLAMES She was slightly taken aback when the young girl directed the question back to her. No one ever asked her a question in that tone before. She was always an intimidating figure. Her parents were wealthy and held many of the wizarding businesses in France. Her brother, Blaise was an extremely popular person when they both attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It seemed to some students that she held the power and that she could just ruin someone's reputation in an instant. Perhaps, she could but she never tried. She would never stoop that low.
She shrugged it off. "I asked you first and it is common courtesy to answer someone instead of asking them a question in return. I'll answer you, however. My name is Rosabella Noir Beaumont," Noir introduced herself. She didn't bother mentioning that she preferred Noir than her true first name. It was just to grand in her opinion. Then again, her mother had a love of beautiful things and gave her the name. She added in a little of a manner rule since she was slightly annoyed that the girl has asked her so insolently and because she had wished to be alone. Maybe, the girl would leave because she found Noir to be rude,
Noir stared back at the girl. Blue clashed with blue. Her own eyes staring the girl down. She leaned back against the wall casually. "Since I answered your question, I suppose it is only right that you answer mine," she said simply. Her eyes darted back to the mirror and she saw the girl staring at it too. She wondered what the girl saw in it.
OOC: So sorry for Noir's attitude. She just came into my mind like that. I WATCHED AS THE FIRE ENGULFED THEM template by eliza @ shadowplay

"I asked you first and it is common courtesy to answer someone instead of asking them a question in return. I'll answer you, however. My name is Rosabella Noir Beaumont." Lily was slightly taken aback by that response. Lily walked in the room and dumped her bag and cloak aside. "Since I answered your question, I suppose it is only right that you answer mine." Lily didn't answer immediately, not at first. But after a few seconds, looked up and said "Ok, Rosabella. My name is Lily McG and I am in Cossu."Lily had directed the question back at Noir because she felt that Noir was hiding something. Lily walked gingerly to the Mirror and sat down, looking at the reflections. Lily was not about to leave because of this girls rudeness, this is not how she is. But then again, Lily felt that she was being slightly rude as well.
Lily looked into the Mirror and saw that her father started waving at her. Lily felt a single tear on her cheek, wiping it away immediately. "Silly of me to cry." Lily mumbled, again wiping another tear from her face. Lily felt foolish, she has been crying for over two years. It was time to move on. But Lily found that impossible, life without her Dad will never be the same.
Lily turned around and looked at Noir. Noir appeared to be upset, seeing her tear stained face. Lily wondered what Rosabella saw when she looked in the Mirror.
OOC: Its ok, Lily was also quite rude as well. Lily may call Noir Rosabella because she doesn't know that Noir is Rosabella's nickname.

I CAN STILL FEEL THE FLAMES Her eyes followed the young girl. It looked like her plan didn't work. This girl had no thought of leaving. So, she waited. The young child had not yet answered her question. In her mind, she had no idea of why she called the girl a child. She was most likely just two or three years younger than herself. She tapped her fingers against the wall quietly. The girl answered. Her name was Lily McG. Noir didn't take too kindly when Lily put emphasis on Rosabella. She swore that only her mother could think of an overly flowery name. Everything would've been fine if she was named Rose or Bella. No, her mother chose Rosabella. Yet, her mother asked her why all of her friends call her Noir.
She felt pity when she saw Lily crying. The expression was shown on her face only for a few moments before being replaced by a look of indifference. It was never good for her to show emotions. Her mother taught her this. Still, she couldn't help but pity the poor girl. "I suppose you know someone who has died," she said simply. She knew that look of sadness. It was a feeling that she has become accustomed to. Not a tear has fallen for her family yet. It wasn't her time to cry yet. She had to stay strong. Tears were for the weak. Noir could not see what Lily saw. The mirror was to show only the viewer's deepest desire not someone else's.
Noir did not wish to reveal what she saw. It was unbearable just to see her family. She looked past Lily's head to see her family. It hurts her just to see them. Yes, she wanted to be with them again. The mirror was just filled with empty hopes and broken dreams for her. It was impossible to raise someone from the dead. Well, there was Necromancy. That magic was outlawed years ago. It was technically centuries ago. Even then, she wasn't sure if a person could raise someone from the dead. It was the balance of nature.
If anyone knew who she actually was, they'd find Fontaine and tell him of her whereabouts. Of course, he lied and said that she was dead. She heard about it in the news. No one suspected that she was the Beaumont heiress since the surname was common. She didn't bother telling anyone who she really was. Rosabella wasn't a common name though but everyone has long forgotten the girl. She was nothing more. She was just a faint memory in people's mind. Lily turned to face the Mirror again, and saw her father. But this time there was a younger version of Lily. This Lily was all happy and smiles. Not now, not now her father was gone. This reflection Lily was seeing was nothing like she was now, unless someone or something lifts her from Lily's despair.
"I suppose you know someone who has died"
Lily turned to look at Noir. Lily had completely forgotten that Noir was in the room. There was no rudeness in her voice this time, but kindness. "My father" Lily sniffed. "He died while making a potion, it fell on him..." Lily wiped again another tear from her tear stained face.
Lily saw that Noir was upset when she looked into the Mirror. "I suppose you know someone who has died to?" Lily waited for an answer.

I CAN STILL FEEL THE FLAMES She listened to the young girl sniffling. What she saw must really be upsetting her. Finally, Lily answered her. It was her father that she saw. So, that was who she saw. It seemed a sad way to die. A potion fell on him. Those were the risks that wizards and witches took. To cure any illness, they'd make potions. Sometimes, the potions exploded or fell on them. It was a sad death but an honorable one. They had tried to help the community. Noir softened at this slightly. "If what you see is going to make you cry, look away. The mirror shows you what you really want. If you see yourself with your father, it would do you good to listen to me. There is no way to bring the dead back to life," she told Lily softly. It had come out a little harsh. Her words were true. It was just best to accept that whoever was dead was gone. For a brief time when she lived at Fontaine's house, she wondered if she could bring her family back to life. It was impossible. This wasn't just a story in The Tales of Beedle the Bard. This was real life. It was her life.
Lily shot her question right back at Noir. She wasn't going to divulge her whole history because of the one question. Her mask was set back on her face. She shrugged. "I know a few," she said casually. What if this girl has heard of her family? The cause of their death was not an unforgettable one. It was an unusual one at that. The story probably lingered in the back people's mind. If this girl heard of who she was, she could spread the word. That one word could turn into a rumor until it reached Fontaine. That's all he needed. Just a whisper and he would come after her. He knew that the daughter of Constantine Beaumont wouldn't merely fade away.
She knew her answer was mysterious. No doubt, Lily was probably looking at her as if she was hiding something. Her answer was the truth but it wasn't the full one. She sighed. "Listen, I have my secrets and I'm keeping them so I won't answer if you ask me who I know that has died," she said coldly. She regained her former prickliness. Rose, that was what her brother called her. He said that should've been named Rose for she was like a rose with a thorn. She completely contradicted Queen Katherine Howard's nickname. Lily knew this was true, but she couldn't help it. Sometimes Lily just wanted to reach out her arm into the Mirror and get her father out.
When Lily asked if Noir had seen someone she knew, and Noir replied "I know a few" Lily looked at her. She couldn't help but be slightly suspicious, but then Noir added "Listen, I have my secrets and I'm keeping them so I won't answer if you ask me who I know that has died" Lily knew she was hiding something, but what?

I CAN STILL FEEL THE FLAMES It was like it surrounded her. She often gave off a mysterious aura. She guessed that was one of the reasons why people never approached her. The other must have been her coldness. A nickname that came into mind was "Ice Princess". That was what the Slytherins called her back at Hogwarts. To her, it was just gossip from mindless girls who could go shopping all day. How ironic! If she was made of ice, the only thing that would destroy her was fire. A wave of bitterness washed over her. A frown placed itself on her lips. Fire destroyed her family. It destroyed her life and happiness. She was ashamed of herself. She was the daughter of Constantine Beaumont. She was supposed to be strong. Now, she couldn't bear to see what she's become.
She was forced into hiding by some weak man. The wheels in her mind turned. She made one resolution and she would never stop until it was accomplished. She was going to take back what was rightfully hers. She wouldn't stop until she achieved her goal or die trying. She may as well die though. That man was hunting for her, he wasn't going to stop until he found her. According to her father's will, she was to inherit all of the wealth that their family had gathered and worked for. If she was dead, he would receive everything. Well, she won't die or let herself be found. No, she would bide for her time and plot. It was like the queens of old had often done. They plotted and waited to put their sons or husbands on the throne.
As they had done before her, she was going to reclaim what was rightfully hers. She broke her train of thoughts when she became aware of the fact that Lily was still there. She was still crying. Noir slipped a hand into her pocket and found a pack of tissues. She handed them to Lily. "Here, use them," she said with a hint of concern.

"Thank you," Lily sniffed, dabbing the tissue at her eyes. She had never cried before while seeing her father in the mirror. Usually Lily would be able to keep herself together. But what made her cry like that today? Was it because the presence of someone else is in here? But what Lily was really wondering is why is Noir being so super secret. She was defiantly hiding something...
Hang on!
Lily had just had a brainwave, all memories from long ago came flushing right back to her. It was a Saturday morning, and while Lily had just gone downstairs for breakfast, her father was reading the newspaper. The front headline was "Three family members killed in fiendfyre, one on the run." Lily's father had shown Lily the full story, about a mother, father and a son had died in a Fiendfyre after the son casted it in an attempt to kill himself. Apparently the girl escaped and it was unknown where she was. It also said that the girl was looked after by a man, and then she went missing, and the man said she was dead. Lily smiled, remembering her hopes that she was still alive. The newspaper had a picture of the girl, long brown hair, blue eyes, unsmiling. No, it can't be... Lily looked at the girl, and Lily saw a perfect match, except perhaps that the girl in the paper was slightly younger. Maybe they were just lookalikes, but Lily wasn't so sure. Her insides were burning, telling Lily that that is the same girl. Could that be true?
Noir stayed silent, as if wrapped up in her own thoughts. Maybe this man was lying about the girl being dead...which means if he was, then he knows that the girl was alive! That would mean that the man would be hunting down for the girl, using every spare time to find her like its his last. But if Lily mentioned something to Noir, what if she was mistaken? That would be utterly embarrassing. But what if she was right...What would Noir make of it?

I CAN STILL FEEL THE FLAMES "You're welcome," she replied, sitting down on the floor. It didn't look like the girl was going to leave yet. Noir herself certainly wasn't going to leave before the young Cossu. She may as well make herself comfortable. She listened as Lily went on sniffling. She once again, became lost in her thoughts. It must have been nice to still have a mother. She would've given anything for at least one person from her family to be alive. It was impossible. Everyone in her family was dead. It wasn't fair. Her brother decides to commit suicide and kills their parents. What did that leave her with? Nothing. That simple word always floated around in her mind.
She saw Lily staring at her but she pretended not to notice. She knew the young girl was curious about her cryptic answer. It wasn't like she was going to tell the whole story. No, lying was better. Who knew? This girl could probably tell someone and then the whole thing would spread around. Then, that hateful man would be able to catch her. Perhaps, she should just make up some elaborate story that she could cover herself with. The name Beaumont was common enough but Rosabella was not. She cursed herself. She just had to reveal her true name. What could she do to cover that up? She bit her lip. She could possibly say that she said her first name to fast and slurred the two words together. That happened a couple of times to people. She could just say that her actual name was Rose Bella.
It would be believable since anyone who knew her mother, knew that she was one for extravagance. Now, how would she explain her answer to Lily's question. What story could she make up? An idea popped into her mind soon enough. Trains! They could always crash at any anytime. She could say that her family died in a train crash. She just had to give the reason why her family was on a train because she came from a pureblood family and they didn't take the train very often. She was reminded of something when she thought of her brother. As the days got closer to his planned death, he acted odd. He was beginning to grow mad. Even she noticed it. That's it.
That was her story. Her parents were taking her brother to a mental institution by train. The reason for the train was that all Floo Networks were closed at the institute and they couldn't Apparate unless it was an emergency. While they were going there, the train crashed and killed several of the passengers including her family. She was now an orphan who lived with her grandparents. Noir looked at Lily again and noticed her staring. She let out a sigh. "If you're going to keep staring at me, I suppose you have something to ask me. Well, what is it?" she asked. She was a little curious about what the girl was going to say. I WATCHED AS THE FIRE ENGULFED THEM template by eliza @ shadowplay

Noir had just asked her what Lily had to say. "Nothing," she replied quickly, looking away. If Lily was wrong, how stupid would she look. If Lily said her suspicions aloud, she could be wrong, and that would be bad. But, when Lily thought not to say what she thought, she had new found courage to say what she thought. Should she say what she thought aloud, or should she zip her mouth shut. Suddenly, Lily just said it, she said it before she could stop herself.
"Your the girl in the newspaper, the one that lost her parents and brother in a Fiendfyre," Lily said, wishing she never said that. "Rosabella Noir Beaumont is the name of the girl that ran away, the girl that had lost her parents and brother. I have a feeling that you will deny what I had just said," Lily knew that Noir would deny all this, but Lily knew the truth now, and speaking it out just signified it. The girl that Lily saw in the newspaper was the exact identical girl Lily is in front of now, but perhaps younger.
Lily waited for Noir's answer, wondering how Noir would take this.

I CAN STILL FEEL THE FLAMES She raised one elegant brow. She was quite sure that the Cossu wanted to say something. Lily still had that look on her face. Noir yawned, bringing her hand up to cover her mouth. She wondered what time it was. She didn't have her pocket watch with her so she couldn't tell. There was a long silence. During this time, Noir went back to her thoughts. The story she made up was believable but if anyone had seen the picture, they'd recognize her. These were times where she wished that she was a Metamorphmagus. That way, she could've passed her appearance off as a ruse. She remembered a story where two cousins looked like they were twins because their fathers were brothers and their mothers were sisters.
It was an interesting story but a little hard to believe. The situation was possible but it was rare. It helped a little that she was a pureblood. There were times where they chose to a second cousin or something of the likes. Some purebloods took things to the extreme when they wanted to keep their blood free of Muggles. It was extremely rare to find a true pureblood family. There was the occasional Muggle or halfblood who popped up but was erased from the family tree. Noir's family didn't really care much for blood purity. As long as they had a good reputation than it was completely fine. Her thoughts were interrupted. She turned to face Lily McG. She guessed that it was time for her to play the part of a normal girl. Noir laughed softly that hopefully convinced the young girl that she was mistaken.
"You're wrong," she said simply, a smirk playing at her lips. "I'm an only child and my parents are very much alive," she explained. Noir shrugged as if it wasn't a big deal that she was mistaken for someone else. She let out a sigh. "I suppose that I can see where you went wrong. We have the same first and last name but alas, we do not have the same middle name," she commented tiredly. She leaned against the wall, making herself comfortable. "Tell me, Lily, are you fond of stories?" she asked curiously. I WATCHED AS THE FIRE ENGULFED THEM template by eliza @ shadowplay
