Lesson 1 - Introduction to Divination and Palmistry
Charlotte smoothed her long brown hair into French Plaits. Looking out of the antique window, the sun was burning her neck. It seemed like the perfect day for a lesson to learn the art of Divination. Charlotte wondered what the students would think of Divination. She remembered in her childhood at Hogwarts that many of the pupils in her year would start chatting and doodling in there books while the teacher was teaching a class. Charlotte disapproved of this and would wonder why many of the pupils hated Divination. Charlotte thought it was the most interesting subject ever. She changed into her blood red robes, then, getting some supplies needed for todays lesson, headed straight into the Divination Classroom.
Charlotte entered the classroom, and put the supplies carefully on her amazingly organised desk. It was time she set up for the first ever lesson, so Charlotte got out her wand from one of the draws, and walked to the middle of the small classroom. She pointed her wand to face the board, and written:
Welcome to Divination! Introduction to Divination Palmistry
Charlotte smiled at her own work, and set about taking the crystal balls off the tables and replacing them with a piece of parchment all about Palmistry. As Charlotte finished her work, she settled down on the seat by her desk and waited for the other pupils to arrive.

Lily woke up, excited for todays lesson. Today it was her first lesson, Divination. Lily changed into her uniform and beret, then got her books. She headed down to the Dining Chamber.
Lily sat down next to a bunch of sixth years and had some breakfast. Bacon and eggs, her favourite. Smiling, she had some. Then Lily realised she had only 15 minutes to get to class. Leaving her half eaten egg, she proceeded to class.
Lily entered the class, and there was only the Professor there. "Good morning Professor!" Lily said, as she sat down at the front of the class.
OOC: I am so sorry it's short, I am in a rush. I'll do a longer post next.

As Charlotte waited for the pupils to come, she got out her Crystal Ball. She wanted to see what was to be seen. Looking deeper and deeper into the ball, Charlotte saw figures, as she is to identify them as Noir and Lily. They seemed to have Quill in hand while listening intently. Charlotte was satisfied, both girls were going to enjoy themselves today. She put her ball away, and still waited for the pupils to come.
When the clock said that there was 15 minutes until the lesson started, Charlotte saw the blonde haired Lily enter. "Good Morning Professor!" The young girl had said, sitting down at the front. "Hello Miss McG, Thank you for coming! We will just wait for the other students to arrive and then we can begin the lesson. For now, just take out your books." Charlotte waited for Lily to take out her books, then she took out her Quill and Parchment.
Charlotte waited for the other students to arrive while she drew a mini crystal ball. Although she disapproved of students drawing in class, Charlotte loved drawing out of lessons.

Everything was so quiet in the Sournois dorms. A person could even hear the birds chirping in the trees. Noir rested her head in her arms as she gazed out the window. She glanced at the clock on her wall. It was still early. The time was just six. She decided to read one of her textbooks to pass the time. The reason why she chose a textbook was because she had no other book for leisurely reading. She glanced at her schedule and noticed that Divination was the first class for the day. She crossed over to the shelf where she kept her books. Noir finally found the textbook. She opened up the book and began reading it. She became so engrossed in it that she didn't realize how it was almost time for class. Quickly, she packed her textbook into her bag and got ready for the day.
Noir darted out of the common room, slamming the door behind her. She heard a faint yell from inside the room but didn't care. She raced up the stairs, nearly crashing into several people. She must have looked like a loon. Noir reached the classroom with minutes to spare. She stopped a little away from the doorway to compose herself. She pulled her hair into a loose ponytail and smoothed out her skirt. Now, she looked presentable. She entered the classroom calmly like a lady should. Sometimes, her mother's lessons on "how to be a lady" came in handy. "Good morning, Professor," she greeted. When she turned to take a seat, she noticed that there was already one girl there. It seemed that Lily McG was going to be in a lot of Noir's class.
She took a seat in the front on the class and unpacked her things. It was unusual for her since she often sat at the back but Divination was her favorite subject. The only classes where she would ever sit in the front was Divination and Potions. They were also her best subjects. It wasn't that she was terrible at the other subjects, she just didn't like them as much. The reason why she enjoyed Divination so much was that she was a seer. Ever since she was a young child, she would have a feeling that something was going to happen or she would dream of the future. She hasn't made a prophecy yet since nothing serious happened. She had taken the class when she was a third year in Hogwarts and she enjoyed it just fine. The one thing that she didn't like about the class was that the other students came there to goof off or argue with the professor. She only hoped that this class would be different.

Charlotte put her Peacock feathered Quill down when she heard running footsteps come closer and closer to the door. A few seconds of silence, then a breathless Noir enters the classroom. "Good morning, Professor," she had said, sitting next to Lily. "Good morning Miss Beaumont! Just take out your Divination books and we can get started." As Noir started emptying her bag, Charlotte stood up and walked towards the door. Shutting it, she then walked back to the front of the class. Charlotte was disappointed that only two people had signed up for Divination, but she had to keep the lesson going. "My name is Professor Charlotte Smith. You may not have seen me before. I find that descending too often into the hustle and bustle of the main school clouds my Inner Eye." Charlotte scratched her neck, what she did when she felt slightly nervous. "So you may have chosen to study Divination, the most difficult of all magical arts. I must warn you at the outset that if you do not have the Sight, there is very little I will be able to teach you. Books can take you only so far in this field..." Charlotte turned to the board behind her and pointed at it with her wand.
"So, today we are going to study Palmistry. Palmistry is the art of predicting events in the future through the study of the palm. It involves the studying and interpretation of one's palm lines." Charlotte turned to the students. "On the tables you can see there is a piece of parchment all about Palmistry, which should help you with todays task."
Charlotte went to her desk to put her wand down. "Is there any questions before we begin?" she asked.

Lily saw Noir enter, and nodded her head stiffly. She had not forgotten about that meeting in the unused classroom, and they were not on the best of terms.
Lily listened intently as the teacher spoke. Palmistry? What was that! She gave a quick glance at her bit of parchment. It was a small image of a hand, with lines on it. A head line, a life line, and bits of the hand were representing Jupiter, Mars, etc.
When the Professor asked if there were any questions, Lily stayed silent. She didn't think there were any more lingering questions she need ask. Lily waited for the Professor to continue on with the lesson.

DIAGRAM OF PALMISTRY
Charlotte smiled. No questions meant that she could get straight on with the task ahead. "Ok, I think we shall start with Miss McG then. Hand out dear, yes, and let me tell you what I see." Charlotte went over to the young girl, who had her hand out. Charlotte pulled out a chair from the side and went in front of the girl. Charlotte took hold of Lily's hand, and started rubbing it gently. "Ok Lily, I see a wave flood of happiness coming your way. But a tiny bit of danger mixed with it to. I see a nice and long life line though, which is very good indeed. So you are going to be very happy but you must keep careful about it."
Charlotte stood up and moved the Chair in front of Noir. "Its your turn now." Charlotte said, sitting down face to face with Noir. "Pass me your hand please," Charlotte asked. When Noir passed her hand, Charlotte took hold of it and rubbed it gently. When she looked at it, Charlotte shrieked. "Noir, you are going to be in terrible, terrible danger! Your life line is one of the most shortest I have seen! I must warn you to be very, very careful!"
Charlotte let go of the hand very suddenly and walked slowly towards the desk. She must act normal, Charlotte did not want to panic the child. She turned to face the two girls. "Ok, we are going to do some writing work now. I want you to get out your Quill and Parchment and write "Introduction to Divination.", and underneath "Palmistry." I want you to answer the following questions:
Q1. What is Palmistry? Q2. What is the difference between The Head Line and The Life Line? Q3. Name me two or more names that Palmistry is known for?"
Charlotte glanced at Noir. She had a sudden sensation in her stomach. No! It can't be! Charlotte faced Noir. "Also, do you mind if I can have a quick word with you in my office after class?" she asked Noir.
"Ok, Quills out! You may start." Charlotte said, sitting down at her desk.OOC: I would be grateful if you would PM me your answers. Use the diagram above to help you.

She saw Lily give her a stiff nod. Ignoring it, she listened the professor. Palmistry. That seemed simple enough. She had studied the subject for the first half of her third year. She watched as the professor took Lily's hand. She gave a mental huff. Well, lucky her. A wave of happiness and a good life was coming her way. Next, she was told to give her hand to the professor. Her cold indifference was broken by the woman's shriek. She stared, puzzled as to why the professor was shrieking. The reason was then revealed to her. Noir scoffed and tugged her hand back to her side. Wasn't that a pleasant thing to hear on a first day? Supposedly, she was going to be in grave danger and die young.
Seeress or not, she wasn't going to listen to the lady's warning. What danger could there be for her? She was at Beauxbatons, away from Fontaine's sight. There was nothing for her to worry about. She observed the professor with icy blue eyes. She could see how the woman was trying to regain an air of normalcy. She could tell that she didn't want to scare her. Quickly, Professor Smith glanced at her. Noir returned the stare without faltering. It was the professor who broke it. Her mind drifted off to other things. Why on earth would she be in danger? If she was, Noir was sure that the vision would come to her.
Her train of thoughts was broken by the professor. She pulled out her quill, ready to begin to work until she was interrupted by the professor again. She gave a curt nod. "Yes, Professor Smith," she answered calmly. With that, she returned to her work. Great! Now, the batty loon was going to talk to her after class. She gave a sigh. Just when she thought she was going to live a normal life, something throws it out of balance.

"Thank you, Noir." Charlotte said calmly. She had read it all in the newspapers, about a young girl of 15 who survived a Fiendfyre set by her brother, killing the mother and father. Apparently, the girl lived with a man, and the girl ran away. The man who looked after the girl thought the girl was dead, but Charlotte wasn't so sure. Here, sitting right in front of her, was the exact same imaged girl of the same Charlotte had seen in the Prophet. Maybe her Inner Eye was tricking her, maybe this girl was not at all the same one in the newspaper. But her insides were roaring, screaming at Charlotte that it was the same girl. Charlotte won't mention anything, not yet, not until the end of the lesson.
When the two girls put up there hands to say they were finished, Charlotte went over to them and marked there papers. "Full Marks girls, well done! I also want it to be known that a girl called Amanda Jakobs has just signed up, and she should be here soon." Charlotte noticed how Lily smiled widely, maybe these girls were close friends. Charlotte approached the table.
"Now, I would like you both to attempt to foresee my fortune. Is my life line really short? Am I going to receive a wave of happiness or am I in deadly danger?" Charlotte smiled. "Ok, who wants to go first?"

Amanda jumped out of bed and threw on her robes.According to her clock, it was all ready eight o' clock and that was exactly when her first divination class was going to begin. Amy had learned a bit about the subject from her late sister Evelynne.
She tried to push all thoughts of Eve out of her mind as she packed her hot pink duffel bag and headed for class.
When she reached the classroom, she ran inside and took a seat beside her friend Lily as she apologized for her lateness. she assured the teacher that it would never happen again. She noticed that the other two girls were filling out a paper that was also sitting on Amy's desk. She quickly filled out the somewhat easy quiz and handed it to the teacher.

"Ok, who wants to go first?" Charlotte had said, looking from child to child. They didn't get the slightest chance to offer themselves, for another child entered the classroom. The child had sat next to Lily, who had muttered "Hello!" The girl started saying sorry about being slightly tardy. "Hello Miss Jakobs, don't worry, I know you have just signed up. Next time I may deduct a point from Cossu, but for now please sit down. We are doing Palmistry today and one of the girls were about to seek my inner fortune. But as you have just arrived, I will quickly seek your inner fortune and then you can go straight ahead with the quiz."
Charlotte pulled out the same chair that was discarded in front of Noir, and sat in front of her. "Pass me your hand please." Charlotte ordered, and taking hold of the hand, rubbed it like she did with the others. "I see that you may have a wave of sadness at some time, Amanda, but that will be made up with a huge wave of happiness. Have you been sad lately?" Charlotte added to Amanda. "And, your Life Line seems quite big, bigger then usual, so thats good." Beaming, Charlotte moved the chair back to the wall and then headed for her desk.
"Ok, Amanda please do the questions above as quickly as possible, while for these girls I am still waiting on who wants to seek my fortune first. Which one of you want to go first, then? Charlotte glanced at Amanda. "You can try last after you have finished those questions." Charlotte added, making sure she didn't leave anyone out.
OOC: Amanda, I would appreciate that you PM me your answers.

We are doing Palmistry today and one of the girls were about to seek my inner fortune. But as you have just arrived, I will quickly seek your inner fortune and then you can go straight ahead with the quiz" Professor Smith had replied as Amy sat down in the seat closest to Lily.
Amy was soon asked for her hand. Perhaps she was going to get her fortune read. Amy was startled at the reading. Apparently she was going to be sad and had been sad recently. Amy had in fact been sad recently. She had been thinking about her late sister Eve. Amy only got sad when a close a friend or relative died or got seriously injured. Hopefully the professor had just made a minor mistake. At least Amy had a long life line!
Amy then completed her quiz. It was fairly easy and only took a few minutes to complete. Professor Smith then asked for her fortune read. Amy raised her hand and walked over to her teacher. "Your lifeline is slightly above average" she said as she observed the line around her thumb. "And there will be happiness and a bit of stress coming soon" she added. "Perhaps from teaching children?" She suggested.

The Professor had asked one either Lily or Noir to seek her fortune. Lily didn't know anything about seeking peoples fortune, particularly her Professors! Lily's mother had always told Lily never to underestimate herself, and Lily always thought she was rubbish at every thing she does. Lily hoped that Noir would volunteer herself, but Noir sat right back and said nothing.
Thankfully, Amanda had finished her questions and volunteered to seek the Professors fortune. Apparently the Professors life line was slightly above average and there would be happiness and a bit of stress coming soon. Suddenly, Lily decided that she would do it. "Professor, I volunteer to seek your fortune!" Lily called, waving a hand in the air. She didn't know what made her do it, but seeing Amanda do it made it look a lot simpler.
Lily walked up to the desk and took hold of the Professor's hand. Copying what The Professor did on Lily's hand, Lily rubbed her bare hand on the Professors hand. Suddenly, everything seemed clearer. Lily could see the life line, the head line and many other things a lot clearer. This seemed very simple. "Professor, like Amanda had said, your life line is quite average and I forsee a lot of stress and a bit of annoyance." It seemed stupid, but Lily wasn't actually saying the answers. Lily spoke out the words that seemed to be put into her mouth. Nervously, Lily stood up and walked back to her table. She sat down while waiting for an answer.

Charlotte waited for Amanda to finish her questions, then went over to her table to mark her questions. "2 and a half out of 3, Well done Amanda!" The girl had then insisted that she would seek Charlotte's fortune, so Charlotte went back to her desk with Amanda closely followed at her heels."Your lifeline is slightly above average, and there will be happiness and a bit of stress coming soon. Perhaps from teaching children?" Amanda stood up and went back to her table, a beaming Charlotte still at the table. This girl was perhaps the youngest in the class, but had successfully found the secret of seeking ones future. The young child had made a minor mistake, of which unfortunately Charlotte was not in for a wave of happiness. "Well done Amanda!" Charlotte said. Then the spotted a waving hand near her, of whom it was Lily McG's. "Professor, I volunteer to seek your fortune!" she called. "Ok Lily, come here then!" Charlotte said. She wasn't particularly keen on shouting, but Charlotte tolerated it this once.
Lily sat opposite Charlotte, who gave Lily her hand. Lily rubbed it just like Amanda had, and started looking into her hand. Charlotte noticed the puzzled look the child had had for a while had evaporated, which Charlotte was pleased about."Professor, like Amanda had said, your life line is quite average and I forsee a lot of stress and a bit of annoyance." Charlotte looked straight into Lily while Lily walked back to her desk. Lily had got it right in the bag, but the girl seemed to underestimate herself. "Well done Lily, that was fantastic work!"
Charlotte glanced at Noir, the girl she had suspected as the runaway in the paper. Noir had not uttered a word for a while, and Charlotte thought it was time to set her some work. "Noir, it is your turn now. Could you please come with me to my desk?" Charlotte asked.

Curiosity held her in its tight grasp. What else did Professor Smith wish to speak to her about? Was she going to get hit by a broomstick the next day? She may as well just dig her own grave now. Well, not that she would dig it personally. She'd enchant her a shovel to do so. With a flourish, she signed her name on the bottom. She crossed her legs underneath the next while she tapped her fingers on the desk. As she was amusing herself with tapping on the desk, Professor Smith came to collect her paper.
Why was it that she was the one with the short life line? Life was just cruel to her. All she could do was wonder why fate decided to do things like this to her. First, her family dies and then she gets told that she's going to die young. The day was just getting greater and greater. She couldn't help but give a little sigh. Her worksheet was given back to her. She earned all marks. The professor announced that someone else was joining the class. As if on cue, a sound of pattering feet rang out in the classroom. A girl who was roughly Lily's age came in. This must be the Amanda Jakobs. She just hoped this girl wasn't as spirited as Lily was. One was enough. She was glad that they were in different classes.
The young girl quickly worked on her questions and handed the paper in. The professor asked if anyone was going to read her palm. Noir didn't bother raising her hand. The Jakobs girl jumped to answer the question. Lily looked slightly nervous but she went up next. Then, there was one. That one was her. Noir let out a rather annoyed sigh. It couldn't be helped. She walked over to the woman and took her palm. "You will live a long and healthy life. It seems that you have a strong mind. Happiness isn't too far away for you but there will be some obstacles for you to overcome," she said clearly.
