WE KEEP MOVING FORWARD

Classes were over! The thought ran through Elizabeth's mind. She hummed as she skipped down the steps. She made way for the door of the academy. She opened it and stepped out into the bright daylight. The first place she went to was the Captivating Garden. It had become a custom of hers to visit the garden. It was just a place where she could relax. She often chose a more secluded part of the garden since she tended to stay out of people's way. She didn't have much experiences befriending other people. She traveled too much for that. She gave a sigh as she pulled her legs up to rest her chin on her knee. Perhaps, she should start making friends now since she was going to stay at the school for a while.

She finished her thinking and left the gardens. She walked around the grounds aimlessly. She decided that she could do her homework by the lake. She sat by the lake, ignoring the bright sun beating down on her head. She took out her assignments and began working on them. She heard the rustle of movements behind her but the person didn't seem very close so she kept on working. Quickly, she finished her homework. She didn't have much to begin with. Elizabeth gazed at the lake before her. The waters were tranquil and a clear blue. She had nothing else to do. As she went further down to the lake, she saw something red.

Elizabeth walked toward the lake and saw that the red was actually a mass of flaming hair. She skipped towards it and saw that the hair belonged to a girl slightly younger than she was. She plastered a bright smile on her face. This might be her chance to make a friend. She slowed down her pace, not wanting to alarm the girl. Finally, she reached her. She gave a small cough, not knowing how to approach the matter at hand. "Hi, I'm Elizabeth Delacroix. Your name is?" she inquired. She was a little nervous since she never really greeted anyone like this. She played with the skirt of her dress as she waited for an answer.

Classes were over for the day and Alexis had no homework. Finally. Now she could just chill by the lake or something. The Beauxbatons lake was deep blue and it sparkled in the sunlight. Today was slightly sunny, and a bit chilly.

Alexis knew that there was a sea monster in that lake. Some said it was a rumor, but it was true. Alexis could see it from her dormitory in Sournois sometimes. She called it Hairy Harry.

Alexis sat on a rock staring at the flat water which was now sparkling. It made Alexis think of her cousin Jeanette. Jeanette had deep blue eyes which sparkled in the sunlight. She was calm, but sometimes could act like a sea monster. Jeanette had died a year ago. Alexis didn't how it had happened. Only that it did.

Alexis heard a voice behind her. "Hi, I'm Elizabeth Delacroix. Your name is?" the girl had inquired. Alexis turned around and looked at the girl. The girl had long wavy blonde hair and blue eyes. She looked about Alexis's age. Alexis stood up from where she was sitting and looked the girl in the eye. "Alexis Jacqueline Janes" she said to the girl.

Elizabeth was always the type of person who didn't obsess over something for a long time. Whatever happened was probably meant to be. It was no use fretting over one thing. There was something that she couldn't let go though. She always wondered why her parents left her. She touched the opal necklace around her neck. It was the only thing that she had left of them. Sister Juliette had told her that her mother had left a note with her. The necklace was a way for her mother to find her but there was no way. She was seventeen now. Her mother would never be able to recognize her.

So, the girl's name was Alexis. She nodded. "That's a nice name," she said simply. There was really not much to say at the moment since the two of them had just met. Something struck her. The younger girl looked a little upset. She cast her eyes back down to the ground as if it was an interesting piece of art. Elizabeth looked back up at Alexis.

"I can't help but notice that you look a little upset," she said kindly. She bit her tongue. That was probably not the right thing to say. Alexis probably saw her as some nosy girl but she couldn't stop since she already started. "Um...is everything alright?" she asked nervously.

"That's a nice name," the girl called Elizabeth had said when Alexis introduced herself. This girl didn't seem to have much to say. Perhaps she wasn't used to talking to people. Maybe she didn't have friends. Neither did Alexis. Apparently she was to "arrogant and stuck up". But mudbloods' opinions didn't matter. Unfortunately, they were everywhere, so Alexis had no friends at Beauxbatons. Maybe this girl would do.

"I can't help but notice that you look a little upset," the girl said kindly. Alexis's eyes narrowed. So this girl was going to be the nosy type. Alexis immediately changed her mind about the girl. But of course, she might need a nosy friend in the future. "Um... is everything alright?" Elizabeth had asked nervously. Alexis smiled. She needed a friend, and not one with her own personality.

Sometimes deep down, really deep down, she wished she was nicer. But that was never going to happen. So, she needed to act nice and get this girl to like her. "Yes, everything is alright" Alexis replied, hoping she was smiling enough.
