She woke up with a start. It was 8:00 A.M. Amanda felt really hungry. Fortunately, she kept a stash of bacon and cocoa in her trunk at the edge of her bed. She heated some up for her and her roommates Lily Lockhart and Alice Edevane. It was really good. Amanda loved bacon. She began to braid her hair as she took another sip of her cocoa.
Amanda got changed into her red sweater and blue jeans. She finished up her breakfast and grabbed her Nimbus 2000. She walked for about five minutes before reaching the quidditch pitch. Amanda and her friend Lily often went there together to practice for quidditch. They were both on the Cossu quidditch team.
Amanda mounted her broom and tilted the handle upward. She rose into the air and spun around the pitch. She loved feeling the morning breeze through her brown curls. She jumped off of her broom and hovered around in the sky. She was one eighth veela, so she had the ability to veela hover. Not as well as her friend Claire, of course. Claire was one quarter.

It was still early in the morning when Euphémie woke up. Well, it was early compared to her. She preferred to sleep in until noon. She laid there in her bed, staring up at the ceiling. She glanced over at her roommates who were fast asleep. She wasn't particularly close to any of them. They exchanged the usual good mornings but other than that, they didn't talk much. Each had their own activities. Euphémie often took to her sketchbook, ignoring all else around her. She knew that she should probably try making some friends. She just couldn't bring herself to do so. Back home, the only friend was her older sister and she barely got to see her. As she grew older, her sister got into the media industry so she was often away. At school, she was constantly teased by the other girls so she spent most of her time alone. Euphémie got out of bed and began getting ready for the day. She sneaked back into her room to grab her bag and packed up her sketchbook and art supplies.
She made her way down to the Dining Chamber for some breakfast. The dining hall was already swarming with students and more were slithering in. She quickly ate her breakfast and left the palace, heading towards the Quidditch pitch. She noticed the lack of students around the place so she settled on sitting on one of the benches. Euphémie pulled out her sketchbook and pencil, turning to her latest drawing. Immediately, she began tracing over the sketch that she had made last night to make the lines stand out more. As she drew, she heard the sound of footsteps coming from the entrance of the Quidditch pitch. The absence of noisy students made the sound louder which was the only reason why she could hear it. Euphémie looked up at the source of the noise. It came in the form of a young girl in a red sweater and some blue jeans.
She bit her lip as she studied the girl. She was half-tempted to make a suggestion about the girl's style. Sweaters were out this season. The jeans were fine but a little too light for something red. Now, a nice circle top would set the jeans off nicely. That was her opinion though. She didn't want the girl to be particularly offended because the first words out of her mouth were a fashion advice. Most girls wouldn't be too pleased with that. She closed her sketchbook and put it away into her bag. She was sure that with the girl flying around, she wouldn't be able to draw much. Her eyes followed as the girl flew into the sky and jumped off her broom. At first, she was sure that the girl was mad but quickly realized that the girl was part-Veela so she could hover. Euphémie smiled. There was finally another Veela. "Nice hovering!" she called out without thinking. She closed her eyes. "Nice going, Euphémie," she whispered to herself. She probably broke the girl's concentration. She looked back up at the girl, hoping that she wasn't plummeting to the ground.

Amanda was startled when she heard a voice. It had been saying something about her hovering being nice. Oh great. Now she was starting to fall. Amanda looked down and saw the ground becoming closer. She also saw a dark haired older girl watching her.
Amanda was shocked to see that she had stopped falling. Instead of plummeting to the ground, she was lying on her broom. She sat upright and moved downwards onto the ground. She was amazed. How had she not fallen and died? She was glad she hadn't, of course. But still, how did it happen?
Amanda stood up and looked at the girl who was about four years older than her. She smiled at her. "Hello! I'm Amanda. You?" she asked.

Euphémie took off her sunglasses and carefully placed it into her case which then went inside her bag. The sun was high in the sky, casting the bright rays over the palace. She gazed in wonder at the beauty of the castle. She couldn't remember why she had been so adamant about not going to Beauxbatons. Now, she realized what she would've missed out if she hadn't gone. It was truly a sight to behold. She was tempted to start drawing the building but remembered that she already had her hands full with her unfinished sketches. She opened up the book and began tracing over the sketch. Finished, she began adding in the details. Carefully, she began adding roses around the picture. She had to be really cautious with drawing the roses since they were difficult to draw. Not to mention extremely tedious. She would stop every few minutes to take a break before she drew them again. Each flower changed in size to give a little variety to the background.
She brushed away a loose strand of hair that fell in front of her eyes. Currently, her hair had reverted back to its natural color of black. She'd often change it to a light brown color since it gave a little spice. That was a good thing about being a Metamorphmagus. She would be able to change her hairstyle every once in a while. She rarely used the ability for anything else but her hair. Her physical features were fine as they were. There was a reason why she was hired as a model. That was probably the one good thing about being half-Veela. The other outcomes were not as nice. She was constantly teased by the other girls because of the attention the boys paid her. When she got mad, it was a bit of a nasty situation. It was also dangerous. That was why she tried to not let people get to her. If they did, no one wanted to be near her.
Her eyes widened when the younger girl began to fall. Her first instinct was to panic but she quickly thought of an idea. She noticed the girl's broom lying on the ground after she had abandoned it. Euphémie whipped out her wand. "Wingardium Leviosa!" she shouted, pointing her wand at the broom. She allowed it to float up towards the girl. She let out a sigh of relief and put away her wand when she saw that the girl had taken control of the broom. She ran out towards the field and watched as the brunette land safely to the ground. "Oh my gosh! Are you okay? I'm so sorry for doing that! I wasn't thinking!" she exclaimed worriedly. Euphémie was so close to panicking. Technically, she already was. The worst possible things ran through her mind before the girl began speaking again. "Oh! I guess I should introduce myself now. I'm Euphémie Perreault. Again, I'm extremely sorry for doing that to you," she said with a slightly worried tone though she was calmer than before. That was another flaw in her personality. She was prone to fretting over small things and begin apologizing when there was nothing to apologize for.

"Oh my gosh! Are you okay? I'm so sorry for doing that! I wasn't thinking!" the girl had exclaimed worriedly. That waS when Amanda had introduced herself. What a boring name she had. Amanda James. This girl probably had a better name. Oh! I guess I should introduce myself now. I'm Euphémie Perreault. Again, I'm extremely sorry for doing that to you," the girl replied. Euphémie. That was an interesting name. Much better than Amanda.
"It's ok" Amanda assured the girl who appeared to be panicking. "I didn't die" she added. If she had died, things would probably be worse. But she hadn't. So she was perfectly fine. It was actually a bit of fun falling out of the sky. She would do it again, if it was safer. Then she realized something. The girl was probably wondering how she had been floating in the air. "I'm one eighth veela" she stated.

"Roses are red and violets are blue, sugar is sweet and so are you," she recited to no one in particular. Drawing the roses reminded her of the childish poem. As a child, she remembered going out to buy candy with her mother. After she opened one of them, she looked at the wrapper and saw writing on it. It was the poem so often recited to little children and sweethearts. Love was such a fickle thing. It wasn't like the ones in the faerie tales that were read to her. That much was clear. Most couples in real life didn't get married and live happily ever after. Her parents were a perfect example of that. Her mother didn't even get a say in the arrangements. She was just swept off to France to get married to some man who she never met. Her paternal grandfather had been the one to arrange everything. Euphémie had met him only a handful of times before he died. From what she heard, he had arranged the marriage so he could increase the wealth of the family company.
Once, she had woken up in the middle of the night to hear shouting coming from somewhere in the house. She had snuck out from her room to see who it was. It turned out that it was her parents. Her mother wanted a divorce but her father refused. He even went as far as threatening her. He would take custody over her and her older sister and never let her mother see them. Only then did her mother stop. Euphémie had run back to her room after that. She couldn't imagine life without her mother. Her father never paid any attention to her or her sister. He was usually out on business trips. When he was home, he would usually lock himself up in his study. The only time he would come out was for dinner which was extremely awkward with him at the table. They dined in complete silence. Since her father was at the table, she had to make sure that she was sitting properly with her back straight. She had to remember which utensils to use and to keep her napkin on her lap. When it was just the girls, it was loud and fun. They didn't need to remember all the protocols that went with eating dinner with the Perreault patriarch.
She was truly concerned with Amanda's well-being. It was her fault that Amanda fell after all. She looked the young girl over, making sure to see if there were any bumps or bruises. "Are you sure? Nothing broken?" she asked nervously, still looking to see if the girl was hurt. She nodded her head at Amanda's explanation. "I guessed right then," she said thoughtfully, her bout of panic over. "I mean only Veela can hover or fly at a young age. Wizards could fly without a broom but it's usually later in their life," she explained, stepping back to give Amanda some room. Euphémie gave her a smile. "I'm half-Veela," she admitted. She was really happy that she found someone else who was part-Veela. The only people who she knew were Veela were her mother's relatives. Most of them were half-Veela like her. She had briefly attended an international school with them before her father had sent her to Beauxbatons.

"Are you sure? Nothing broken?" Euphémie asked nervously, still looking to see if the Amanda was injured. Amanda shook her head. She wasn't hurt one bit. How could she be? She landed on her broom! . "I guessed right then," Euphemie said after Amanda explained that she was a veela. "I mean only Veela can hover or fly at a young age. Wizards could fly without a broom but it's usually later in their life," she explained as she smiled at Amanda.
Amanda sat down and looked up at the girl. She smiled back. "It's nice to know other veela besides my family" she said. "I know a few other people here who are veela" she added as she thought about her veela friends. She only had two. Her rouerian friend Claire Charrier, and her house prefecta and friend, Kabriel Lilly. That reminded her. She didn't know what house Euphemie was in. "I'm a Cossu" she notified the girl. "You?"

The feeling of panic as she saw Amanda falling to the ground was something that she never wanted to feel again. It was that moment where she felt that she was weak. She felt like there was nothing that she could do. She was just thankful that the idea came into her mind. If not, Amanda might have died. She wished that she could block that moment from her mind but she knew that she couldn't. She was already dwelling on it too much already so there was no chance that she would forget about it anytime soon. She mentally hit herself. She just had to shout. If she hadn't then the two girls would have a normal conversation. Instead, the time was mostly consumed by the fact that Euphémie was fretting over her. For a girl who was usually at the top of her classes, she was so stupid sometimes! She guessed that she could add something else to her long, long list of faults. Right, she was also a bit of a mother hen. She had the tendency to worry about the tiniest details. Well, she did have to have something to balance her bright and perky behavior.
Finally, she was satisfied with the fact that Amanda was unharmed. She threw up her hands in surrender. "Sorry, I'll stop being a mother hen now," she apologized...once again. Euphémie gave Amanda an awkward smile. She was genuinely concerned for the younger girl's well-being. That was just the type of person that she was. She was confident but apologized to people way too often. It probably came from being tutored by her dad once in magic. Every time that she couldn't get a spell right, he'd throw up his hands in frustration. In all fairness, it was usually on her first try of the spell. When it came to the magic that came with being a Veela, she could do it with ease. A wand was a different story. Charms and Potions, she could do. It was Transfiguration which gave her trouble. She only hoped that Beauxbatons could help her with that problem. At least the school would benefit her in some way. Any try at Transfigurations would usually end up with her almost pulling her hair out due to the frustration.
"It's always nice to meet other people with some Veela blood in them," she commented happily. She gave a little sigh. "It gets a little boring since the only other people who I know are Veela are my mother's relatives and the problem is that all my cousins usually speak only in Vietnamese. I mean, they can speak in English but it's a little hard to understand with their accents," she explained. Her eyes widened at Amanda's comment. "Really? Who are they?" she asked excitedly. "I would love to meet them," she commented. It would be so cool if she got to meet another Veela. They could have a Veela party! Okay, the idea was far-fetched but entertaining nonetheless. "Cool! I'm in Cossu too!" Euphémie answered. "Hey! That kind of rhymes!" she exclaimed, giggling a little.

"It's always nice to meet other people with some Veela blood in them," Euphemie had commented happily. She gave a little sigh. Amanda agreed completely. "It gets a little boring since the only other people who I know are Veela are my mother's relatives and the problem is that all my cousins usually speak only in Vietnamese. I mean, they can speak in English but it's a little hard to understand with their accents," she explained. Amanda nodded in agreement. It had been hard when she only knew her family.
Euphemie's eyes widened at Amanda's comment. "Really? Who are they?" she asked excitedly. "I would love to meet them," she added. Amanda smiled. She was sure Euphemie would get along very well with Amanda's veela friends. Especially Kabes. Euphemie and Kabes seemed to have a lot in common.
"I have a friend named Claire in Rouerie, but I haven't seen her in a while" Amanda said as her smile faded. She had no idea where Claire had been lately. But technology didn't work here, so Amanda couldn't call her. " And I have a friend in Cossu you would like named Kabes" she continued. "She is your age, and she is half veela" she added. "She is really nice".

She was absolutely happy about the fact that Amanda was part-Veela. She finally found someone who had the same blood coursing through her veins. Well, not exactly the same but close enough. She now had someone who most likely knew of the troubles that came with being a Veela. Amanda was only one-eighth so the level of teasing might not have been so high. She might not have been teased at all but it was still nice to find someone like her. Jealousy was a cruel mistress...or master...What was she thinking? Emotions didn't have genders so she stuck with jealousy was a cruel feeling. The things that jealous people did sometimes were almost frightening. It was sometimes the feeling that drove people to kill, lie, or steal. It was basically a bloody awful feeling. It was an emotion that when felt, was extremely dangerous for a Veela.
Despite being enchantingly beautiful, they could turn into a truly terrifying monster. In all her life, she had only witnessed one incident involving an angry full-blooded Veela. She shuddered just to think of it. She had been staying over at her aunt's house in Saigon. It all happened in the middle of the night. Her older cousins had filled her in on the details that happened before she woke up. Her uncle came home smelling of perfume. The strong flowery scent reached his wife who was her aunt by blood. At first, she asked him nicely. He refused to tell her he had been. Her aunt then hypnotized her uncle to tell the truth. There was no way for him to fight against her. The truth came spilling out. He had been spending time with another woman. Her aunt was furious. No, that was an understatement. She was livid. She turned into the harpy-like creature that came with being a Veela. That was when Euphémie woke up. She crept out of the guest room, peering down the banister to see her aunt hurling balls of fire at her uncle. He was able to dodge them. The fight went on for a long time before she was pulled back by her mother.
When she woke up in the morning, her uncle was no where to be found. Rumors were exchanged between the little children since the adults refused to breathe a word about the incident. Some said her aunt had killed him in a fit of rage. The nicer cousins said that he was merely banished. Whatever reason it was, she never found out about it. She did learn one thing though. She hoped that she would never see an incident like that again.
"Oh! That's too bad. I'm sure she's fine," Euphémie said, trying to console the little girl. It must've been sad to not have seen a friend in a long time or have any form of contact with them. She smiled when she heard Amanda talk about her other friend. "Kabes sounds like a nice person. I hope to meet her soon," she said happily. The girl named Kabes seemed like a nice person. She must've been a great person for Amanda to talk about her so highly. It would be really cool if she could be friends with her. Amanda seemed like she would be a good friend but Euphémie wanted a friend around her age to talk to.

"Oh! That's too bad. I'm sure she's fine," Euphémie said. It was sad not having contact with such a good friend. Claire had been a really good friend. She was also really close to Amanda in age. She was thirteen, and the only twelve year old Amanda knew was her friend and roommate Alice.
Euphemie smiled when Amanda talked about Kabes. "Kabes sounds like a nice person. I hope to meet her soon," she said happily. Amanda nodded. She could understand why Euphemie wanted to meet her.
"You should definitely meet her" Amanda said.

After that scare with Amanda almost dying, she was starting to feel bored. If she had to list the top ten things that she hated the most, boredom would definitely be at the top. It was just one of those things that she couldn't stand. Everything was just dull when she was bored. She also had a hard time paying attention to anyone once she was. Euphémie didn't want to come off as rude or anything to Amanda. She was really looking forward to becoming friends with her. The younger girl was nice so it was only natural for them to be friends. She only hoped the girl wasn't just being polite and holding the almost-death thing against her.
It was definitely an awful way to meet someone. So far, it didn't look like Amanda was going to hate her. She just hoped that wasn't going to change soon. Suddenly, she remembered that she had left her bag up in the Quidditch stands. "Wait a minute. I left my purse up in the stands," she said, turning on her heel and running towards the stands. She quickly grabbed the bag and her shoved her sketchbook inside. She darted back down to Amanda. She smiled. "Since Kabes is in Cossu too, I might meet her around," she said.
She fiddled with the charm on her purse. "You know, you're the first person I've met here besides my roommates," she commented thoughtfully. That just goes to show what her social life was like. Beauxbatons might be different though. Everyone at the school was different in some ways so they might be a little more accepting than normal Muggles. Well, not that she had anything against them. Some were just really close-minded. That was probably one of the reasons her cousin's father left his family. She had heard that he ended up in some mental institution for talking about magic and magical creatures. She looked back at Amanda studying her for a moment. She was most likely around the age of twelve so she might not have been at the school for a long time. If she was correct, the eligible age for the school was eleven.
Euphémie was well past that age. She was already sixteen. She probably had a lot of catching up to do. She was afraid that even the eleven-year-olds knew more spells than she did. She had basically gotten the basics down. She just needed more training in Transfigurations. Her performance in that area was still a little iffy. As she thought, her hair began to change between a light brown color and black. Euphémie finally noticed it. "Oops," she said absentmindedly. She quickly focused on changing it back to black. "Oh right! I wanted to ask you how long you've been at this school," she told Amanda.

"You know, you're the first person I've met here besides my roommates," Euphemie notified Amanda. Amanda asked who Euphemie's roommates were. She might know them.
Amanda watched Euphemie's hair change between light brown and black. Amanda had seen peopke do this before. Her best friends and roommates Lily and Alice. They were metamorphmagi. "Oh right! I wanted to ask you how long you've been at this school," Euphemie had suggested.
"A few months" Amanda replied.
