Despite waking up late the day before, Santeri was as right as rain today when he got up. He managed to get to bed at the correct time (though not without some help from certain herbs and spells) and he was feeling better than ever as he stood up to get dressed for the hiking trip today. He observed around him and it still seemed like some people were still asleep and, after a moment's contemplation, he decided not to wake them. It was up to them if they wanted to sleep in a bit longer, and he would have actually chosen that path himself if he felt even the slightest bit more tired. Instead he gathered his stuff together, unzipping the tent flap and walked out, breathing in some fresh air as he did so. This was going to be a good day hopefully, depending on what him and his partner had to gather together of course. Besides that, he also had to try his best to act as human as he could, which wasn't really that hard under normal circumstances as it's what he did all the time. Sometimes situations called for drastic measures though.
Santeri unfolded the scrap of paper he had in his hand to look down at the list he had been assigned with: nettles, belladonna, fire embers, tarantula and doxy eggs. At the bottom was his partner's name: Beth Spencer. It was someone he didn't know, which was to be expected. He didn't especially mind all that much though, so long as the other person didn't give him trouble he could pretty much work with anyone. Everyone seemed to be milling around still, trying to find their partners and stuff. Problem was though, since he didn't know who Beth was he wasn't really expected to approach her, and vice versa.
Deciding to wait a bit, as he knew it would be rude to just take off and leave his partner to catch up, he decided to wander around a little. He started walking towards the unlit bonfire with logs placed strategically around it, and stopped upon reaching it. Turning around he let his eyes scan his surroundings, then falling upon the mass of students in the distance, and half smiled. At least from here he could tell where everyone was and whoever decided to approach him, although why anyone would get the idea to do so.... He felt unsure for the moment but decided to sit down anyway, his eyes lingering on the ground in an observant way. Maybe here he'd also be able to find something he was searching for on the list if he paid attention for long enough. Not all that likely though. With a bored expression sweeping across his features again, he looked towards the main camp again, deciding to wait a little more before proceeding onwards.
(aha, it's pretty bad ^^;;

Beth moved silently as she moved about the tent, collecting her belongings. Of all the cots in the tent, hers was the only that was empty. The rest of the girls were curled under their blankets, shielding their eyes from the caress of the morning sunlight. Of all the activities this was the one which Beth had been most eager for. Many of the other girls she had spoken with were reluctant, due to the fact that they didn’t know their partner or that they might get a bit dirty. Beth on the other hand, had been excited by both of those factors. She loved any opportunity to go out and get a little dirty; she’d spent her childhood in the shadow of her adventurous older brother. She was compelled by it. While she was excited to spend the day out in the woods, she was even more excited by the opportunity to meet her partner. She’d read the name over a hundred times, just to be sure she’d remember it.
Since arriving here at the palace, Beth realized she had found herself in short company. Between spending all of her waking hours in the auditorium and In Rue de Paradis, she’d not met many other students. Her brother had been the reason she had wanted to come to Paris above all else and while she’d loved his company, it was unlike her not be in the middle of a large group somewhere. Even more recently she had found herself spending more and more time in Colton’s company. Thinking of him brought a slim smile to her lips, causing her to blush, she knew she really shouldn’t be spending so much time in the company of a Professor, but she enjoyed it so. Today though, she was determined to devote her time to people outside her brother and Colton. In fact she needed.
Guiltily she pulled the spelled parchment that Colton had given her from her pocket and instead placed it in her bag. She couldn’t afford to be distracted by him today. Deciding she was ready, Beth pulled her jacket onto her shoulders, finishing off her attire with a yellow beanie. Again, being careful to remain silent she opened the flap of the tent, feeling immediately welcomed by the suns warm rays. Breathing in deeply she set off for the center of camp, trying to avoid any of the professors. She knew Colton would be lurking around here somewhere and as much as she wanted to see him, she had other plans for the day. Curling her mahogany locks around her fingers she let her eyes search the crowds, unsure who it was she was really looking for.
Her eyes caught on a lone individual standing near the fire pit, now desolate after having spent the night lit in brilliant reds and yellows. It seemed one person would be easier to sort than the dozens which were all meandering about farther up the trail. If he wasn’t who she was looking for then at least he could possibly point her in the right direction. Letting a smile grace her lips, she offered a slight wave of her hand as she approached. Hey. I know we’ve never met, but maybe you could help me find who I’m looking for. She said with a laugh. Since I don’t really know anybody, you seemed as good a place to star as any. Do you know someone by the name of Santeri by chance? Or at least where I might find him? Raising her eyes to his face, she unfolded the paper in her hands as though it might help to give some direction.

Not really seeing anything on the list that caught his interest, with a graceful sweep he turned and sat down on one of the logs. Now he could see everyone better from here, and as more people vanished into the trees it would have become that much clearer who he was supposed to be partnering up with. What made that thought much more certain though was that a girl was approaching him from the direction he was gazing in, and since he was the only person standing by the fire pit it was quite obvious that even if he was standing and gazing in another direction entirely, she would have grabbed his attention in some way. Remembering what he was doing a minute later, instead letting his thoughts slide, he jumped to his feet and got ready to respond to the girl any way he could, be it if she was looking for someone else or otherwise.
"Santeri you say...." he said slowly - a hint of his European accent showing through - as he looked thoughtful and feigned ignorance for the time being. He looked up at the sky in wonderment before returning his gaze to the girl again. "Unusual name... hard to say really." A slow grin spread across his lips, his oddly matched eyes gleaming teasingly. "Well, you've found him! I guess that makes you Beth then." He stated the last sentence rather than inquiring. It was so obvious - despite never having come in contact with her before - to remain oblivious about the situation. "You have a good eye, and must be pretty brave to go off and speak to a guy all by his lonesome, never know what kind of crazy person he may be," he said conversationally as he walked past her and stopped, only to look over his shoulder. They were supposed to be searching for the items, as many other people had set off to do before them, but he didn't feel like giving up the chance to get to know someone as they went about their business. It was very likely that he could come across her in the corridors at school after seeing each other like this, it seemed like a very common occurrence after all.
"So then, what do you want to look for first?" he asked, as he looked down at his own piece of parchment that contained the list. Some things on it were obviously easier to obtain than others. The grin returned as he said, "ladies first, I believe. Is there anything you find particularly interesting on the list? I assume finding a tarantula wouldn't be very high up there on things you'd rather be doing with your day." He let out a small laugh, looking very relaxed. He really was the type of person who wouldn't be fazed with most situations, in fact he was finding this whole thing pretty fascinating already. One of those things that was a competition, which he always loved to be involved in. He shoved one hand in his pocket and tilted his head as he watched her, in a very puppy-like way, concealing the fact that he was just raring to go no matter what she chose to start off with.
