Settled in the far corner of her tent, dark raven locks were splayed across a cot, while cerulean eyes lingered on the exit. The longer she was here, the more she was regretting it. At least back at the palace she’d been able to find some solitude. This camping trip was proving to be nothing but close confinement. Getting along with others was no specialty of hers. The closest thing she had to a friend was an individual by the name of Avery and it was stretching the meaning to even go so far as to call him such. They had been companions more or less and their only agenda had been the hunt. A slim smile curled on her lips at the thought. She’d met him in her early years as a vampire back when she’d allowed herself no restrictions. Rosalind had left humanity behind eagerly and the two had participated in what numerous had told her to be reckless killing, but she’d been delighted with the whole affair – ravaging their way through China. Her ultimate goal had been to continue the Silk Road, but unfortunately Avery’s maker had intervened so she’d settled herself elsewhere, farther out of sight.
Taking another glance around the tent she realized how much had changed. For a long time she’d traveled the word on her own, following no restrictions but her own, but it seemed time had finally caught up with her. Traipsing about this school acting the part of a witch was not something she’d wanted in her life, in fact, it was the last thing she wanted. As much as she had hated her maker at the time, she couldn’t say she hadn’t grown accustomed to the lifestyle. It had been killing him that had finally drawn attention back to her. Stronger vampires than herself thought it time for an intervention. While Rosalind was of a different mind she wasn’t about to risk her well-being to chance otherwise. Still, it didn’t make being in close proximity to these humans any more favorable. The girls among her tent had spent the evening dribbling about their lives and all she could think was how useless it all was, she wanted nothing more than to hunt.
Sighing, she swung her legs over the side of the cot, her finger quickly searching her bag for a change of clothes. Rosalind dressed quickly and silently, maneuvering through the tent being careful not to wake the other girls as she had no wish to speak to them. They’d been assigned hiking partners for the day, for some silly scavenger hunt and while the idea was no more appealing than a tent full of chattering girls, at least there would be fewer people to avoid. The sun was just peeking over the horizon, spilling the peaks in golden light. Relieved by the silence, Rosalind set off onto the trail, not bothering to wait and find her partner. If he were worried about it she was sure he was more than capable of finding her as it was not likely she’d be finding him. She walked for some time, winding her way through the rocky trail, until finally the campground was out of sight.
Pushing her way through a mass of trees, Rosalind paused as something brushed softly against her hand. Against the sun, small strands shone silver. Raising her hand to meet them she realized it was unicorn hair, shaking her head she laughed slightly, one of the many items on her list. Pocketing it she smiled, the faster she found the items the sooner she could be on her own.

Alec was tying his shoe laces before making sure he had everything he needed in order to go for the scavenger hunt. Not that he needed much though. He did have a backpack with him in which there were a couple of water bottles and bandages and such, just in case. You never knew what could happen. Besides he knew nothing about his hiking partner except that the person was a female. Hopefully she would be friendly at least and not some uptight “I’m-better-than-anyone-else” femme. Spoiled brats annoyed him the most usually. Well, he would survive somehow either way, he always did. He just had a bad temper and he got easily annoyed, so it didn’t take much for one person to make him explode. And that would end up him leaving and going on his own way, finding the items on his own. That would be bad, he knew that.
He left the number six tent behind him (he had actually pretty great tent mates in his own opinion) and started looking for his hiking partner. Little by little students left with their partners and he was left there all alone pretty much. He closed his eyes tightly, sighed loudly and tried to calm himself down; had his partner really left without him already? He felt like cursing right now. Somehow he was able to keep his temper and he sought a staff member, asking if they had seen where his partner had gone. They pointed the way to him, so he thanked them before leaving after his said partner. She had long dark hair apparently and he believed she wouldn’t be too hard to recognize, because she would be out there alone without her partner. Why did this have to start so badly?
After walking for a moment he finally remembered that indeed this was a scavenger hunt and while he would be seeking his partner he should also look for the items on the list. He took a folded parchment out of his pocket and checked through the list to see if he had seen any of them yet. Right next to him happened to be some poison ivy actually, so he picked up some before wondering whether his partner had already took some or not. This was just great. How rude of her to just leave on her own.
No, he shouldn’t think about this. It just made him more annoyed and he would yell at the girl right away when he would see her. And at that moment he actually saw a girl with long dark hair a bit further away, most likely picking up something for their scavenger hunt, so he started walking faster towards her. “Hey! You do know this isn’t a solo quest and that you were supposed to do this in pairs?” He called after her before reaching over to her and checking what she had just found. “You haven’t picked poison ivy yet, have you? ‘Cause I just did a moment ago.” He then noticed that she was holding unicorn hair in her hands of which he was a bit surprised of, because those were definitely hard to see. Most likely the most difficult item to find on their list. Good thing that she found it already. “Look. Let’s do this together fast, so we can both just get back to our own business. I’m Alec, by the way.” He decided to be a bit more polite and calm himself down, mostly because he felt like he had seen her before or that he knew her somehow. wearing: this

And here I was hoping that you’d never find me. her words were accompanied by the sound of laughter escaping her lips though she was anything but amused. Annoyed, she rolled her eyes, listening to the steady sound of footsteps which could only mean he was closing the distance between them. She was both surprised and annoyed that her partner had managed to find her so quickly. She had abandoned her tent just as the sun had begun its slow ascent into the welcome azure skies. The campground, much like her tent, had been quiet – something she much preferred. Rosalind had left early in hopes that she might find some solitude, the night before having done some serious work on her nerves. It had been long since she had cared for any of the useless pageantries of human interaction, for that’s all it really was – a show. This was no different and she couldn’t say as though she were particularly in the mood for company.
I hadn’t actually had the chance to poison the morning yet. With a brandish of her hand, she slipped her dark raven locks over her shoulder, offering the boy a sideways glance as he stepped up beside her. But I suppose it’s just as well you did, because it means the sooner I can be rid of all of it. Including you, she thought. Trailing the long silver threads of hair over her fingers, she held her hand out to him, offering him her recent find. Why don’t you keep it? I’m sure you’ve more use for it than myself. All she really wanted was a quick escape after this was finished. She’d been hoping to find most the items before he’d made an appearance, but it would appear that the odds were not stacked in her favor. Now it seemed she had a companion.
“Look. Let’s do this together fast, so we can both just get back to our own business. I’m Alec, by the way.”
Well at least we’re of like minds. She stated with a gracious smile, raising her icy gaze to meet his features for the first time. She moved to sweep her dark locks over her shoulder, but paused as his image caught her at a sudden unaware. Dark tousled locks framed his face and he watched her under a scrutinizing gaze, something in his appearance seemed achingly familiar. Expression pert, lips tight, she frowned at the boy across from her. Handsome he may be, but she felt oddly uncomfortable with his presence, more due to the fact that he’s stirred some sense of déjà vu – a feeling with which she was not particularly familiar. Shaking her head, she brushed the thought aside, annoyed that something so small had even brushed her mind. If anything he was probably an heir to former supper. That though was enough to bring the smirk back to her lips.
I usually avoid such technicalities, but if you must know, my name is Rosalind.

”And here I was hoping you’d never find me.”
Great. Stay calm. Just stay… calm… That’s what he kept repeating himself, because he knew it would just give her satisfaction if he now lost it and started arguing about it. Better to just let it be and pretend like he didn’t care what she said. This chick really thought she was above everyone else. Ugh, he loathed such people. Why had he even decided to join this hiking trip so soon after he had only come to Beauxbatons? Gah. He had thought this would be a great chance to meet some new people and make friends, but obviously that wasn’t going to happen. This was going the exact opposite what he had thought. Oh how he wished his mother would come and pick him up (like a kid picked up from kindergarten) and say that they didn’t need to hide anymore. But he knew that wouldn’t be happening. He hadn’t made any THAT good friends just yet, so there was no one he could go up to and complain to about his partner later. Man, he wished he had the ability to fast forward time or something. That way he could get rid of this situation fast, but it seemed like time was going by slowly and that this scavenger hunt would take forever.
“Great, thanks.” He replied when the girl offered him to keep the unicorn hair safe as well. He bet that once they had found the last item on the list she would just completely disappear and make him go alone to give away the items to a staff member. Not that he minded in the end though. Perhaps it was better if they just separated their ways as soon as possible. No need try too hard and pretend like they had started getting along right away. What was her problem anyway? He wouldn’t even bother with her, no way. All he had to do was to find the remaining three items; aconite, knotgrass and lacewing flies. That’s it.
He cleared his throat, acting like he was annoyed at all by the way she had been acting and said, “Let’s look for aconite next, should be easy.” Aconite really shouldn’t be too hard to find. He placed the unicorn hair in his pocket carefully and making sure it wouldn’t be able to drop from there or anything. It wouldn’t be fun to start looking that one again. And for sure this girl would make him look for it all alone, because it would have been his fault if it would disappear. Maybe that was one of the reasons why she gave it for him to carry.
“I usually avoid such technicalities, but if you must know, my name is Rosalind.”
Just a moment ago he had been looking around while walking, trying to search aconites, but when he heard her name he suddenly stopped and froze completely. Had he just heard right? But there was something familiar about her, all along there had been. "What?" Slowly he turned to look at her, stared quietly for a moment with his jaw dropped and unsure if this was a trick or what, but there was no way she could know about Rosalind unless… “Rosalind Dillon? No.” He shook his head a bit and continued, “No way.” But then kept staring at her and indeed she looked exactly like her, a bit older than what they had last seen, but… She was supposed to be MUCH older now. Like dead old. “Were you… named after your grand-grand-grand-mother or something? Possibly?” This is just something he couldn’t believe. She had to be relative of hers somehow if they shared the name and the looks. But she definitely hadn’t inherited that Rosalind’s personality.

Gleaming threads of silver fell from her fingers and into the boy’s hands. Her slim lips curled into a smirk as her eyes rose to meet his own, she could see the annoyance which etched his features, but he seemed reluctant to announce it – instead offering casual thanks as he slipped the unicorn hair into his pocket. He would likely be just as eager to rid himself of her company as she was of his before this was all over. It amused her that he kept silent, refusing to answer her biting remarks. More often than not people sought to fight her and it never ended well, not for them anyways. Since arriving at Beauxbatons, she’d had to work hard to curve her temper. Some of these students had no bounds; she found them to be ignorant really and simply unnerving. Had she been here under any other circumstances she would have eagerly turned them into a meal. Just thinking about it made her hungry; she’d not properly fed since arriving here. Running her tongue over her teeth, she sighed.
Turning away from her companion, her gaze searching the forest, she barely listened as he spoke once more. With a laugh, she pushed her raven locks over her shoulder, setting off into the forest. I see you’re just as eager to be done. She stated briskly, not giving him the opportunity to follow before she started down a different path. She assumed he’d follow or maybe he wouldn’t, either way she couldn’t say as though she particularly cared. Rosalind had nothing to gain from finishing this scavenger hunt and now he had all the items it wasn’t as though her presence particularly mattered. You could just continue on your own. I’d be the last to stop you. She said stopping in her tracks, her gaze drawn to the small smattering of color in the lush green of the undergrowth. In one thing he had been right, aconite had been easy enough to find. The pastel purple of the flowers contrasted to the deeper earth tones of the trail. But before you run off, I found the aconite you need. She said, her fingers pointing at the purple flowers at the base of her feet.
Rosalind Dillon? No.”
Raising her brows, she found her gaze drawn back to the boy at his reaction, one that she found to be uncanny. Nothing she had said had managed to stir the boy, but now he was standing stone still in the middle of the path. Crowned by his halo of dark hair, his eyes were wide and his jaw slack. Something in his expression wouldn’t allow her to pull her gaze away him. Close your mouth and stop acting a fool. She stated coldly, feeling uncomfortable with the way he was gazing at her. Again she was struck with the idea that he was familiar, which was impossible. It was as though he’d lost complete interest in the hunt, which only moment ago had been his sole preoccupying thought. Why the sudden interest in my family history? She snapped, clearly agitated by the idea. Her family was not something she liked to think on. In fact, she’d long since forgotten them. They were the reason she was the way she was. At one time she had begrudged them for it, but now she couldn’t be more thankful. No one in my family had such a name, but not that it matters. I’m likely old enough to be your grand-grand-grandmother, now grab you’re worthless plant.
