and i always imagined you'd be by my side[/ul]
[/blockquote] When her skin started to feel too tight and her bones started to itch, Rowan knew it meant she'd been inside for too long. There was something about the outdoors that made her chest loosen, making it easier to breath. Snagging her jacket and camera, Rowan made her way outside. As she walked her shoes made intimidating clicks against the stone floor and every step built up anticipation. She'd only arrived at school yesterday and being occupied signing up for classes and unpacking prevented her from exploring her favourite part of Beauxbaton's castle. The grounds seemed endless and she loved thinking of all the new beautiful things she would find today and was excited at the prospecting of seeing what had changed from last year. As she walked she considered visiting one of her old haunts or going exploring. Both had different aspects that appealed to her but in the end it was Rowan's footwear that was the deciding factor. She wore her favourite pair of black wedges and while many would think the shoes inappropriate for walking around for lengths of time, Rowan couldn't think of wearing anything else, it was just the way she was. Smiling she exited the castle and made her way outside. Shoving her hands in her pockets she wandered towards a cluster of flowers, camera dangling off a strap around her arm. She was ready to be wow'd by the beauty was was nature. Pursing her lips she prepared her camera and scanned the open air looking for a good test shot. It'd been awhile since she had last used her camera, having run out of new material at home over vacation.
Point down at the ground she crouched down and snap! took a picture of the green grass. Loving the feeling that passed over her, Rowan grinned and turned her gaze up to the sky to take a picture of the clouds in motion. Such began her journey towards her favourite cluster of tiger lillys on the east side of the grounds just before the forest began. She paused every few steps to capture the lovely field of manicured grass that covered the grounds around the castle. She knew her memories didn't do how gorgeous the grounds were justice. Eventually her face relaxed enough that an easy smile came on to her face which was uncommon for her. Rowan's typical smile was wry and sometimes mean but that was her personality showing through. But she felt in her element outside, it was calming and appealed to her inner vanity. For Rowan was, if anything, an overly vain person. Every member of the Elliot family had some defining factor that never failed to make them stand out in a crowd and for Rowan, that was her vanity. Usually her family members would twist it and call it her appreciation for beauty or eye for style but Rowan was much more honest and direct when dealing with herself, after all she knew herself better than anyone else. Not only was she the most average Elliot, she was the one with a lame and sinful trait such as vanity. But she had been this way since she could remember so it didn't bother her so much anymore, she had come to accept it and even make it work in her favour. After all, Rowan Elliot certainly never looked any less than stylishly rumpled.
Yes, dressing up and capturing beauty were really her only hobbies. She didn't even like the art of photography all that much, she placed it in the same category as gardening - simply a means to and end. By gardening she would end up with beautiful flowers and trees and shrubs. By taking photographs she was preserving a piece of beauty forever that she could look at later on and share. Which was probably why she liked the Beauxbatons grounds so much - they were beautiful and she could appreciate them without having to lift a finger to make it so. Furthermore, they were timeless. Even when things changed, they didn't really. The grounds were always similarly maintained in such a way that while it was obviously alive it gave off the impression of being locked in time, never changing. As she approached her favourite flowerbed, Rowan's smile only grew. Tiger lilys were her favourite because, while she wasn't overly fond of the colour orange, they always smelled so sweet and looked so full of life. They could be found in so many placed and the petals were soft and never looked less than beautiful. It made her happy to look upon the flowers. She had tried to grow some at home but she had been unable to make them look as beautiful as these flowers. Snap! Snap! Snap! went her camera as she tried to take as many moving pictures of the flowers as she could from as many different angles. She wanted to be able to make a portion of her wall seem as if she really was outside with the beauties She'd tried this last year as well and since then had read up on different ways to develop moving pictures together to make them seem more real. This seemed like a perfect chance to try it out.

"Nicht hier!" Nox snapped loudly in German as he threw another stack of books against his dorm room with a loud crash. It was hardly surprising that after the amount of noise he was making a small crowd had started to form outside, of which was quickly disbanded with a snarl and a loathsome glare coming from the boy in question. Turning back to face the mess before him, he took a deep breath and collapsed back on his bed, which was rather touch going as that too had books sprawled out all over it. After a moment of uncomfortable silence again, he sat up and pushed up the black framed glasses on his nose, a concentrated look on his misty blue - almost grey - eyes. A small dark chuckle escaped him just then, as he elevated himself to his feet. "Scheiße, I made a mess didn't I? Nevermind, that can be rectified later." Clearly he didn't care much for all the textbooks and research notes he had amounted over the months. But then, of course that wouldn't have mattered to him, everything that was of importance to him was up there, in his head. What good were flammable substances like books for in the end anyway? Uttering a dismissive sound, he snatched up his coat and adorned it before swaggering quickly out the door.
Walking further than a couple of steps was easier said than done though. Everyone seemed to be crowded at the top of the stairs, still just outside his bedroom. Why him? No really now. He tried not to look exasperated or to show that he was getting a teeny tiny bit frustrated by the lack of intelligence shown by this herd of students. It was all he could do simply not to just shove them down the stairs, but no... he wouldn't amount to something like that just yet. Narrowing his eyes, so that they became that much smaller in the magnified lens that was his glasses, he sighed heartily as what appeared to be a couple tendrils of black energy lazily broke from him and started wrapping their way around the cluster of people around him. Again, Nox pushed up his glasses, a slight smirk appearing as he slowly made his way down the steps, which had now suddenly became vacant. He really didn't have to do much to clear the way, such people scared far too easily, it seemed. Very quickly though his patience for the people around hi dwindled further, so much that he was almost incidentally running out of the Rouerie common room. Really now, Rouerie was the most intelligence house at Beauxbatons? He could almost snort with laughter at that. They were as stupid, foolish and lazy as the rest of them. Truly, it was pitiable. Soon he reached outside though, and into the fresh air. The first sound Nox made though was a snort. Obviously the concept of fresh air impressed him as much as a lot of other things didn't.
Uttering a small 'huff' he started walking, his lab coat swaying behind him, silvery blonde bangs just falling in his face as he went. Subconsciously he reached into his coat, fingering the lighter and cigarettes that were there but hesitated and withdrew his hand before the temptation got to him. Even if he didn't care about what anyone else thought, being caught by a teacher doing something he shouldn't have... well, as amusing as it sounded, he had many things he wanted to do here before he got expelled, so perhaps such an activity could wait for later. Before he knew it though he had reached the gardens which were at the far end of the courtyard. It was an unpleasant thing really, as he noticed that the sunlight seemed to be aimed at this place in general, as if it was supposed to be the nicest and most serene place on school grounds. Nox, however, thought the opposite. Just being near this place made him want to sneeze, despite not being infected with hay fever. And the amount of flowers were too bright in contrast to one another. It generally bothered him in general how he'd even got here without actually paying attention to where he was going, otherwise he would have arrived in a place more satisfactory to his needs. Perhaps even a place outside the school that was devoid of life and where he could smoke in peace. But no. About to turn around, he paused as he caught a glimpse of someone amoungst the flowers, enjoying the scenery and apparently taking pictures of it all.
Nox felt a twinge of agitation for a moment, then quickly wheeled around to address the main source of his discomfort. "I don't see how you think photographing plant life is entertaining in any way," he stated coolly as he approached her, slowly walking but taking big steps. His misty eyes were vibrant as he gave her a cold and disdainful glare. He turned and flicked his eyes over the reason the girl was so interested. Sadly, he'd walked further into this colorful nightmare he was so desperate to get away from. "And on such a mundane day too." His eyes snapped back to the girl, dislike was clearly evident there. More often than not his first impressions of people were dislike, loathing or any other such negative emotion. That wasn't to say that anyone deserved his hatred. He wasn't even quite sure if he believed in such an emotion, quite like love, it was all unnecessary in the end. No, not dislike, indifference, he silently corrected himself, not expecting her to reply but contented himself with looming over her like an unintended shadow of misfortune anyway.

♥ ♥ ♥ I WASN'T OLDER YET / I WASN'T WISE I GUESS somewhere i lost whatever else i had x x Rowan was angry at herself for not hearing the footsteps sooner, for not realizing there was someone else in the vicinity until it was too late. 'I don't see how you think photographing plant life is entertaining in anyway'. Her face pinched together as she finished taking her picture, debating on acknowledging the guy at all. She probably would have completely ignored him if he hadn't continued walking towards her, making her skin crawl. Rowan tried to avoid people as much as she could not just because they were tiring and irritating but because they also make her uncomfortable with all their expectations and unwanted opinions, with all their judgement of Rowan and her life. She had enough of that in her life without going out and asking for it, as well. It was the consequence of having a large and talented family. Lowering her camera from her face, she turned towards the male and almost scoffed at what he was wearing. Of course someone who wore a labcoat couldn't appreciate the beauty that was surrounding them. Who did he think he was, coming up to her like this and sharing his thoughts, especially since they were so rude. She glared at him in consideration, trying to think of the post prickly way she could tell him to go away. 'And on such a mundane day too.' Merlin, he was just getting worse and worse. "Well, it's a good thing you're not photographing the flora then, isn't it?" she said rudely, tilting her head to the side and raising an eyebrow. While Rowan wasn't known for her sunny personality, she made a decision to not pull any punches when this blond person was involved, clearly he was asking for it by coming out her and disrupting her like this.
"Also, you're lucky it's a 'mundane' day today because I'm pretty sure if there was any more sun out you'd be looking pretty similar to a lobster right now," she informed him, clearly eyeing his pale skin. He looked as if he hadn't been outside once in his in entire life and she really hope this little venture would result in a very painful sunburn on his part. And possibly a rare and incurable disease caught from suddenly getting too much fresh air. It was the least he deserved from his warm and welcoming greeting. Certain it was time for this stupid conversation to end, Rowan pursed her lips and glared down at him, hoping he would get this gist that she did not want him here, that she did not like him and that if he did not leave now, she would not be held accountable for her actions. And no one would blame her either, all this boy had to do was open his mouth in court and any judge would be understanding towards Rowan. When he made no move to leave, Rowan decided to take the initiative and turn to walk away, tossing a casual "It was lovely meeting you, really," over her shoulder. She walked until she felt like she was a safe enough distance away to resume her photography in peace, hoping Doctor Shut-in would get the message (although considering the fact that he was a shut-in, it was highly likely that he wouldn't).
As she continued to take pictures, it became clear that the lighting was significantly worse in this new location. Yes, Rowan was far from a professional photographer but she had eyes, she could tell when something didn't look good. Cursing Doctor Shut-in yet again, Rowan tried to make the best of it before soon giving up. She looked over her shoulder to see if the intruder was still there and cursed under her breath when she realized he still was. Who did he think he was? Bothering her and then pushing her from her spot? She wasn't going to stand for it! Swallow any fears she had, Rowan marched up to the male and stood in what she thought to be an intimidating position with her hands on her hips. "Maintenant, you listen to me. I was here first and I refused to be scared off from good lighting by a ghost in a lab coat. You either leave by your own will or I will be forced to make you better aquainted with the flowes you have been eying with such adoration," she warned him cooly, eyes narrowing, almost daring him to go against her.
(blahhh my muse started dying out by the third paragraph .-.)

The look he was giving her very quickly turned into one of curiosity, as if he'd just discovered a new breed of amoeba. Yes, amoeba, the most uninteresting organism in the known world. Really now, just from where he was standing her face went through a number of expressions, all fitting into the category of irritated. Naturally where this conversation was going, if she decided to bother continuing it, her expressions were bound to get a lot worse. He was already prepared for that though, as he was all day every day. Nothing really managed to faze him, not least as far as human beings went, and this person was no different. Not in the slightest. Just as obsessed with pitiable and troublesome things as a child who played with toys would be. Not that he'd know anything about that of course, he never had the same luxuries as children like that; he couldn't have been more pleased either, if he did he would have grown up to be a brat like the girl in front of him. 'Well, it's a good thing you're not photographing the flora then, isn't it?' Oh, she replied, to which he snorted loudly. "Yes, I couldn't agree more," he shot back, though it wasn't really a retort but a simple statement of agreement. She didn't really have to turn his question back at him to become something so obvious did she? He could almost groan in boredom with how slowly talking with her was, it was like speaking to a primate or some other lesser being.
At her next words though Nox couldn't help but arch a delicate eyebrow, a slight twitch at the side of his mouth as if he was fighting to laugh or at the very least smirk. "Can't say you're not right, that's what level hundred sunblock does for you. Works wonders," he mused in response. Really now, if the best she could come up with was attacking him about getting sunburn, she really had a long way to go. He couldn't help but feel slightly amused by it all though, despite never showing anything but the stony facade he wore in public. He generally couldn't help but quite simply be rude to people or to come out with what he was thinking; what reason, what logical reason was there to hold backs? Feelings and emotions were simply an illusion that simply blinded people from the truth, and only idiots would be fazed in that kind of way only from his words. She had been glaring at him the entire time, which Nox had either simply ignored or didn't notice, probably the former. She seemed to expect him to leave after he had his say but he had no intention of just turning tail and walking off. Perhaps if the girl had remained silent he would have gotten bored, but since she actually replied to him, now he was interested. Interested in what exactly though? Well, naturally everything. Many things in life were a puzzle to him and finding out how a person ticked was one of the things that made him most intrigued of all.
Unsurprisingly enough she turned and started walking away, with what seemed like one small line of farewell. Despite that, he still wasn't willing to budge. When something caught his eye nothing stopped him until he got every bit of data he needed out of it. So with that, he turned his head to face he ground, blonde locks half falling in his face, however blue eyes continued to remain focused on the retreating back of the young girl. She only got a few steps before turning back to look at him and then completely whirling around only to fully get in his face seconds later. "Oh my, a threat! How unexpected," he declared loudly, a smirk this time managing to twist his lips. "Fortunately you don't scare me. So why don't you march on wards and take pictures of some withered trees or something, like you'd find in the forest. Can't say that it wouldn't be a more wondrous sight than this... place." His lip curled in a vision of loathing as his tone turned venomous. "I don't see why you're so defensive about this place anyway. You make it sound like being approached by others and hearing their opinions is something sinful." He pulled back away from her and crossed his arms, giving her a studious glance. Can't say that things weren't getting more interesting here at least.

♥ ♥ ♥ I WASN'T OLDER YET / I WASN'T WISE I GUESS somewhere i lost whatever else i had x x Rowan was so ready for this encounter to be over and done with. On a good day, she was able to barely put up with people and the longer she put up with this boy the less tolerant she became. Everything about him made her more irritated, from the way he regarded her with a complete lack of emotion to his bored tone of voice. If he was so bored why didn't he just leave? Rowan didn't understand people but she suppoed that even if she did she still wouldn't be able to figure this guy out. Especially when he wasn't even fazed by her sarcasm. Usually if someone wasn't put off by her dirty looks they would leave her alone after a few mean remarks. But of course those didn't work on him, he simply agreed with her. 'Yes, I couldn't agree more'. What was she supposed to say to that? It was obvious in the expression he wore that he was unmoved by their conversation, looking like he really could not care less. He was sucessfully intimidating Rowan, leaving her at a loss of words. She hated that, hated feeling so little. If she could have, she would have done anything to shake him, to regain control of the situation. Instead she settled for a weak, "Glad we're on the same page."
As it became clear that this boy was a cold stone of a being, her lobster comment felt stupider and stupider as time passed. She mentally scolded herself for being so dumb. 'Can't say you're not right, that's what level hundred sunblock does for you. Works wonders.' Rowan's lips pulled in to a straight lind as she regarded him with distaste. She felt insignificant enough as it was, she really didn't need this as well. "You know what else works wonders? Not being here," she snapped, "Nine out of ten flortists agree that pompous asses such as yourself grow much better out of direct sunlight." Rowan hoped that by metaphorically lowering him to the level of the flowers he was eying with such dislike would pursuade him to go elsewhere or leave her alone. Because she couldn't back down now, not again. She had done so many times in the past that she refused to be beat by this boy in a stupid labcoat. He was so detatched from everything as she tried to be. Speaking of which, "Really, were you not loved enough as a child? It seems no one taught you how to be a person." She snorted unattractively as her mind turned him in to a muggle machine. She was sure that if he knew what she was picturing he would be offended that she was comparing him to a muggle object. He seemed like the type who would discriminate against muggles.
The guy's reaction to her threat was... less than ideal. Yet again he cut her down and made her feel two feet tall. Worse, he didn't seem to have any holes in his cold front, at least none se had found. She glared at him with hatred she udually reserved for some of her sisters for he was doing exactly what they did - get under her skin. She hated when people managed to do that. “Yes, a threat, one I'd more than enjoy following through,” she told him sternly, rubbing her palms absently together as she often did when uncomfortable. “I'm not trying to scare you, I'm informing you. Judging from the labcoat, you seem like someone who likes information,” she told him forcefully. “Information such as how withering trees don't hold a candle to these flowers. Information such as the reasons why I'm defensive of this place are none of your business. Information such as how being approached by anyone is indeed, in my eyes, sinful. Especially when they share their unwanted opinions.” Rowan finished her rant by crouching down and grabbing two fistfuls of dirt and shoving it on the lapels of the labcoat. She smirked at the sight of the now muddy labcoat when she pulled her hands away.

It took a little while for her to get any words out, though it felt like the seconds or even minutes were ticking by pretty quickly; he'd have been surprised if an hour had passed by the time she uttered a small string of words that seemed held together by a voice filled with damaged confidence. Obviously it seemed like the girl was used to getting her way, simply through demanding or just barging her way through life, and he really couldn't understand that. It was infuriating as he tried his damned hardest to understand every single little detail that life bombarded him with, but the mechanics of this one miserable little girl baffled him. Soon, sooner than he thought it seemed like she pulled her act together, if only slightly, simply to retort at him, which made him narrow his eyes behind thick rimmed glasses. "So then, I'm being compared to a weed now am I?" he stated dryly, very much aware as to what she was getting at, but yet it didn't even cause him to flutter an eyelid. Seemingly attacking him was her only objective; is that what she normally did if someone happened to impose or speak to her? When dealing with his girl he couldn't help but act indifferent, she was no more than a child throwing a tantrum, screaming and insulting just to get her own way. But for some reason, such things caused a small twitch at his mouth - the beginnings of a smile or smirk. This was a more interesting interaction than he would have thought upon arriving at the gardens and meeting this girl.
It still surprised him that despite the fact that he was clearly bothering her so much and that she had began to walk away, that somehow she was back snarling in his face. He really didn't get amused this often, not that he showed it, but it was the only slightest bit of amusement, as usual he was the teeniest boy irritated as well. Really, who did she think she was shooting off her mouth like this?! His light blue eyes flashed, but instead of a grimace, instead he'd began to smirk, but it was a pretty vicious looking expression for someone who was normally as cold and composed as he was. "So what if I wasn't?" he snapped back at her, his tone of voice which was usually rather quiet and monotone, rising up a few decibels. "But you appear to be no different! Anyone who was raised properly wouldn't have half as much to say as you do now, and sure as hell wouldn't act like a rabid mutt to the people around her." He finished with his voice sounding similar to a sneer, as he raised a hand and shoved his glasses up his nose which had started to slide down as he had been preoccupied with this girl. Surely if comparing her to a dog didn't provoke a reaction, nothing will. But then again, why was he doing this exactly? It wasn't logical, per say, to randomly have a shouting match with a stranger in the middle of a flower garden, and it was not like him at all to stay spending so much time with any one person when such interactions were beyond him, and thus something he usually brushed off and avoided at all costs.
And then, his mind flitted back to her snorting soon after she spoke, and regretted comparing her to a dog. More like a pig, he thought cruelly to himself, his eyes narrowing at her as he thought that. Oh well, he had already spoken, so there wasn't any point in changing what he said now, out of everything changing his mind or what he said was something he never did. He was always right, after all, and he always made sure that no one ever forgot that. That, of course was when she really caught on his last nerve. Informing this and information that; if he had a vein on his head it surely would have popped at the nonsense she was spewing. "The only information I'd like to process is why you're not informing me of the reason that you're still here and talking!" he said loudly in response. He would have said more, but something happened that didn't quite meet the expectations he predicted. Yep, she got dirt on him, quite literally. If there was anything more infuriating than talking to a twerp who didn't know her place it was one who didn't know to keep her hands to herself and to not get mud on his sparkling white labcoat! Looking abundantly silent, although his eyes were widening in a very silent display of rage, he gave a small growl, a very small growl as he grimaced, and then without any warning... tackled her. He was quite determined to wipe that filthy smirk off her face, and this was sure to do the trick. He was also quite a bit smaller than her, so with his head he aimed it at her stomach and literally forced her to the ground. After that he was quite stunned, and it was quite... dirty down on the ground.
He quickly rolled off, although almost immediately fell back on his backside again. He was more covered in dirt than ever, his glasses were lopsided and even had sprinkles of soil on them as well. He glowered down at the girl from his position though. Now that was bound to work wonders for him, though he was still less than pleased about rolling around in the dirt with a stranger he just met, that's for sure. And he was quite sure a storm was coming from her end as well, he could very much tell that from the way she had acted up till now.

♥ ♥ ♥ ALL IS FAIR IN LOVE AND WAR but all i do is love you more / our love is crazy unhealthy x x Rowan smirked with self-satisfaction when the guy's eyes narrowed at her the compared him to a plant. The smirk only grew in to a smile at his reply - who was she to deny the words that came out of his mouth. If he wanted to interpret it that way, she wouldn't say anything otherwise. Instead, she looked up innocently and said as sweetly as she could, "You said it, not me," and fluttered her lashes for good measure. While she knew her words had been harsh, most people would have been flattered by being compared to a flower. It wasn't her fault he'd taken the comment the wrong was (or, really, the right way for she'd meant for it to be hurtful). Rowan was reconsidering her previous assessments of this interaction, she was having fun with this boy, something she usually only had while shopping or looking through magazines. And, on one occasion, attending a fashion show with her maman. Her enjoyment slightly lessened when she caught the boy's lips twitch, almost as if to smirk. If he was finding this conversation amusing clearly she wasn't being harsh enough and was about to toss out another remark when he responded to her question about his childhood. Rowan flinched as his voice raised for it's typical monotone unexpectedly but felt herself stiffen when he spoke of her family. This was her least favourite topic of all, her family always seemed to make her vulnerable. Anyone who brought them up striked right at her core. She took a deep calming breath, holding tears back before replying, "Maybe I am forced to act like a 'rabid mutt' when people rudely inquire about things that are none of their business. Maybe the problem isn't me, I'm willing to wager you bring the rabid mutt out in everyone." She spoke in a dangerously low voice, hoping to scare him off the topic of family. She believed her reply was the best possible one she could have given, she'd brought the conversation back to his character flaws.
She was relieved that her commentary of information had its desired effect as well, at least she wasn't losing the war. He slightly lost his composure and his response was mildly irritating at best - not even close to the caliber as the rest of his remarks. Rowan was almost disappointed, she'd hoped to get more materials for her flame. She knew exactly what she was going to say to him next, had it all planned out in her head, she was going to win this fight and send him off. Only she was stopped in her tracks when he reacted to her getting dirt on his labcoat. His eyes were opened wide in rage and he let out a low growl before, suddenly, he tackled her to the ground! Surprised, she let out a small scream as she flew through the air and let out a grunt of pain when she made impact. Merlin, that hurt. For a few moments she just laid there, watching the sky in shock. Had that really happened? Did the cool and collected scientist-wannabe really physically bring her to the ground? He certainly hadn't looked capable of doing so earlier. Then, all at once, her breath came back to her as he rolled off of her and her face turned a dark shade of red in her anger. Who did he think he was! She had her damn camera on her arm! Her dress and jacket were all dirty! She was going to kill him! Worse, he had the audacity to be glaring at her when she looked over at him! Not thinking rationally, she threw one leg over his and raised herself up before beating at his chest with her fists and yelling, "You idiot! For someone who looks so smart you're so dumb! More hitting and she screeched accusations at him, "My hair! My dress! My jacket! The flowers! My camera! Merlin, my camera." Over the whole rant her voice just got louder and more distressed before she realized she hadn't checked to see the damage. She quickly scanned the area for her camera and rolled off him to crawl over to it. She wasn't sure her legs were working at the moment.
All colour drained from her face as she took it in and tears gathered in her eyes. It was broken! While she hadn't openly admitted she loved the device it'd brought her a lot of comfort over the years and now it was just gone along with the roll of moving photographs she'd taken with her sister Emilie before coming back to school. In her anger she threw her camera at the boy whose name she didn't even know and cried, "This is all your fault! It's all ruined!" She wiped at the tears that were threatening to fall - Rowan hated crying and she was sure she'd hate crying in front of this boy more than anything. He would only mock her for it, belittle her even for having emotions. "I didn't ask for you to talk to me! In fact I asked you to leave me alone many time! Now look what's happened," her voice was softer than before, already her anger calming down and turning in to upset. This was exactly why she avoided people and hated interacting with them, it never worked out in her favour. Glaring angrily at him she shakily rose to her feet and turned to leave, carefully taking off her shoes, sure that if she tried to walk in the wedges back to the castle she'd end up breaking her ankle or something. After all, she did have wretched luck.

Nox blatantly ignored her words as she seemed quite satisfied by the apparent insult she had fired at him. In all honesty though he felt nothing from it, it was simply words after all and he really didn't care about what left her mouth. If she was so determined to leave his presence then she would have done so already, and it really didn't take as much strength to leave this flower garden as she seemed to be leading him to believe. Which then led him to believe that she was quite stubborn, and was quite set on trying to knock him down a few pegs. He wasn't going to let her get that far though, not as far as he was concerned. He saw though, as he returned back the scathing words she had given him, that his own had left some kind of impact. She even flinched at them, how quaint. Nox continued just giving her a stony gaze, struggling not to show any sign of any emotion, even the slightest twitch of his lips again would have betrayed him. And that's when she started to reply to him, in a tone that meant that she was sort of pissed off, but not in the raging angry sort, but the 'I'm going to kill you, slowly and painfully if this continues' kind of way. "It's not my problem if people choose to act that kind of way in my presence. It simply means that they have far too much emotional baggage to deal with utterly honest facts," he proclaimed, laughter almost hinting in his voice but his expression remained as thoroughly serious as ever.
And then, of course, that led to him tackling her. Well, not so much the previous conversation to much as her daring to so much as touch him for long enough to smear dirt on his clothes. That made him snap, such an intolerable action. And he rarely did get angry enough to do such things either. As he did do that though he heard the faint sound of a snap, which he never noticed when it came to everything that followed. Nox sat there breathing heavily as he simply glared, trying to get his barings together as he tried to estimate what she'd do next. After seeing her temper so far though, nothing good would come of it, he was sure. And he was right. Before he had time to fathom what was happening, her leg snagged his and then he was sent crashing back to the ground again and suddenly what seemed to be first blows were striking his chest frantically, one after another. He simply lay there for a moment, staring up at the sky, his glasses once again hanging lopsided on his face; he could even feel the mud he was laying upon in his hair and staining his coat further. Then it all stopped. Her shrieking - which had sounded like a bag of cats being banged against a wall - had ceased, so that it now became something resembling panicked cries instead instead.
Slowly, as she rolled off him, his breath shallow, he sat up, half leaning on one arm. He didn't quite know what she was going on about until his eyes fell upon the mangled object that almost resembled something familiar but he couldn't put his finger on what. Oh. Her camera. He'd only just thought that when she suddenly threw the item and hit him directly in the face, knocking his glasses off and sending him reeling. "Ah!" he snapped in pain, quickly moving his hand towards his face to check if he was bleeding, but no, everything was fine. Besides the damaged camera which had dropped into his lap. Other than the two things that seemed broken - the camera and the girl - things were just fine. Okay, they weren't, they really weren't, so he had to shove that idealistic view of the situation to the side. Carefully, grasping the camera, he stood up and watched the distraught girl as she was crying pitifully on the ground, until she managed to stand up. What exactly was he to do now? Nox raised his hand and looked down at the thing he held in it, yup, definitely smashed. Why was she so concerned about it anyway, things could easily be replaced couldn't they? And since she seemed so materialistic in the first place, she could most certainly afford another one couldn't she? His lip curled in distaste at that.
She was still talking though, and he couldn't help but squint at her as his glasses were still lying abandoned on the ground. Of course he could see a reasonable amount without them, but wasn't entirely comfortable about it. With a sigh, he bent down to pick them up and set them in their rightful place on his nose, then turned back to examine the dilema they were in. The girl was now proceeding to take off her shoes and had started walking - barefoot - towards the palace, still upset and obviously trying to get away from him. It was generally getting to be enough for him at this point, he almost had to thank god that he hadn't had to deal with people in this kind of situation before, no wonder he didn't have to get caught up in silly people dramas. But there was no turning back now. "Wait," he said quietly. He raised his hand to his eyes, pressing down hard enough to almost see stars. "Alright, FINE. HOLD UP!"
he practically roared at her, bringing the hand clenching the camera down to his side, as well as his other hand and giving her an agonizing as well as frustrated glare. With a twitch of his labcoat, he proceeded to smoothly traipse towards her until he was within a reasonable enough distance for him to talk in, but without getting close enough for yet another physical blow. "I'll fix it for you," he muttered in that same quiet tone again, looking at the ground as he said it. He sure as hell didn't like to offer favors for people, especially irritating over dramatic girls like this, but what other choice did he have. His pale face was flushed as if he'd been running around a lot, but as his gaze shot up to her again he looked dangerously serious. "I will fix this for you, if that is what you want," he said slowly, as he raised the camera so it was within seeing distance for her. "It will be good as new when you next see it. I promise." He didn't look down towards her feet or comment on that, the last thing he wanted in return was a sarcastic comment or a demand for a piggy back, so on that matter he remained silent, as much as ii pained him to not offer his opinion once again. ❋ Rowan was just so done with today. This whole ordeal with the random boy - whose name she didn't even know, she thought with ire - only reaffirmed her belief that it was best to just not bother with people. She felt a small flicker of guilt when her camera hit him in the face but she just reminded herself of all the reasons he deserved it. While she would openly admit that the whole thing was partially her fault, if only she had been able to contain her anger, she was certainly holding him responsible for the untimely demise of her camera. She had not asked for his opinion on her hobbies - that now, thanks to him, she couldn't even do - and how could tackling someone to the ground be logically justified? It was certain that she was romanticizing her role in the situation, but she hadn't started the argument and was ending it now. Or so that was what she though when she'd taken off her shoes and turned to leave. The boy had won, could join the ranks of the many people who had gotten the best of Rowan.
Her resolve for putting an end to their disastrous conversation was her main motivation for ignoring the boy the first time he called after her. Didn't he get enough? Why ever would he want to continue talking to her? Did he think of a final jab to send Rowan off with? But then he had roared and she stopped from pure shock. From their interaction, she hadn't gotten the impression that he was the kind of person to do such. He had always spoken in an even, calculate tone. She spun around on the heel of her foot to see what he was up to. Tried to predict his next move. Rowan wasn't sure her already frail nerves would be able to handle yet another of his verbal attacks. They were leagues beyond those she had received from her older sister, Castoraralia. Her eyes narrowed to glare at the blond through her tears, trying to convey that she didn't want to hear whatever he had to say. Her solid look of wariness continue as he walked smoothly up to her with her camera in his hand. What was he up to?
Rowan was completely flabbergasted when the answer came. He could not be serious, it had to be one big joke, his final game with her. Her brown eyes once again filled with tears that fell as she shook her head in disbelief and disgust. How could one person be so cruel? Yes, Rowan was mean but she would never kick someone while they were down. Moving her wedges so that they were both clasped by their straps in her left hand, she reached out with her right and tugged on the ruined camera. She couldn't possibly trust him with the remains of her former companion, who knew what he would do with it? Kick puppies, probably. It'd been stupid of her to leave it behind in the first place. "I think," she said dully, eyes trained on the expanse of grass between them, "that you have done enough." Clearly he needed to actually hear Rowan admit defeat. "You wanted me to leave you be and this is me trying to do so," she paused, taking a deep breath to calm down. "You won't see me, Rowan Elliot, ever again. Just give me my camera." To emphasize her point, she gave it a tug. While it had no excessive monetary value nor was it a family heirloom, she still cared for it. Through it, she had experience so much of the beauty that was in the world. It was almost ironic how it had been destroyed by a boy who was so handsome on the outside.

When he first met her she seemed entirely too proud, agressive and... childish, like an overactive wolf cub. Now... it was as if he picked up a cat and set it on fire. She seemed so wounded now, like a badly hurt animal, and he could sense on some level that it was his doing that caused it. Usually he didn't care for such trivialities as other people's feelings, not least his own, but just watching her from where he stood sent a faint pang throughout his chest. It was an un-nerving feeling, that made him all the more agitated about how this meeting was proceeding. He gazed at her through cool misty blue eyes, that then peered through dirty and scratched glasses. She was... was she crying? Nox blinked. He could hardly believe what he was seeing, but he tried not to seem astonished or even remotely phased by this new show of emotion coming from her. Despite only knowing her for around an hour, she seemed like one of the last people who would display emotions to openly like this, especially in the line of tears.
Of course that all seemed to stop; the flows of tears, the little scuffling of her trying to move away in bare feet through the dirt of the flower beds, even all words seemed to cease. She just seemed to look ultimately stunned. Surely it wasn't that surprising for him to offer his services to rectify what had been wronged. Although, just thinking that, his mind was completely blank at that moment in time. He wasn't even quite so sure what he was doing himself, it certainly didn't feel right or something he should be doing. It could even be compared to the feeling of some random person setting fire to a building, and how they should be feeling after that. Nox took a deep breath and sighed heavily, closing his eyes for a moment as he tried to absorb what was happening here. Meeting this girl, getting into a verbal spat with her, tackling her, destoying her camera... though it wasn't just my fault, he sourly thought, not daring to say it out loud in case something unprecedented followed. In any case, it all arrived at the offer he made her.
His eyes snapped open as he felt a tug on the camera he was holding out to her, and saw that she was feebly - with one hand - trying to take the object from him. He looked up from the camera and to her face, though not entirely meeting eye contact with her, and heard her speaking again. She did sound like she was making a massive effort to even speak at this point, but alas, Nox refused to let this one go. Despite everything that had happened, he still couldn't bring himself to just let bygones be bygones and then go their separate ways. He just had to take things a bit further, mainly in the name of science and observation but... this girl made him curious, and it was because of that curiosity that he couldn't just drop everything and go. But, however, he did learn that her name was Rowan, if nothing else. A curious name by itself, but he couldn't allow himself be sidetracked from such things here. "Well... Rowan," it genuinely sounded like quite the strain simply using her name instead of just thinking of her as a nameless girl, "be that as it may, I still think I should do as I see fit with this, in other words fix it." He narrowed his eyes and huffed slightly, ignoring the second tug she gave to the camera, and then pulled it back in return and stepped away. "Be assured, your camera will be fine. But don't fool yourself into thinking me doing this is any more than me doing you a service, because it is not!" he finished, half spitting his words as he cast a glare in her direction.
It was actually rather impressive how his attitude shifted so quickly in the space of a minute, it truly was. He never gave that a second thought though as he turned away, his labcoat whirling behind him. He was starting to become quite frustrated again, and before he could allow the girl - Rowan - to protest further, he shoved the camera into his coat pocket and strolled off in the opposite direction. He wasn't quite sure where he was going, but at this point taking a page out of her book and making his way elsewhere seemed like the best solution to make. A minute later though, his thoughts of the girl were already forgotten and he was already constructing a plan in his head of how to repair, and perhaps make better, the camera. Though he doubted whether she'd have enjoyed any new functions he'd come up with in regards to her beloved object, but as it was his patient it was generally up to him what he did. Nox semi-grinned as he walked, almost maddeningly; he was in for some fun for the next few days, he was quite sure of it.

Considering how downhill this whole day was going, Rowan was more than prepared to write it off as a complete and utter disaster. Wiping at the tears that were falling, she wished she could be anywhere else in the world but here, tried to imagine how things could have led to any other scenario where she wasn't standing there feeling like an idiot, tears still slipping out of her eyes and barefoot. She had never felt so humiliated and the way he was just looking at her did not help make her feel any better, in fact, if anything, his calculating blue eyes only made her feel worse. Rowan briefly looked up to the sky and willed her eyes to stop leaking these stupid tears. Then, it was all gone. She was shocked from her sadness by the way he was suddenly offer to help her. That was hardly what she was expecting and of course it had to be a joke, there was no other possible explanation.
She just wanted her broken, useless camera back and then she wanted to go hide herself in her room and reevaluate her mask in silence. Why was he incapable of letting her go, of forgetting this whole stupid thing. He had seemed to eager to do so only moments ago. He was not the kind of person to be helpful, she could tell that from the hour or so she had been in his company. He was the sort of person to slice people in two with his words, the sort who brought kings to their knees with just one dirty look. Afterall, look at what he'd done to Rowan. She had a very solid brick wall that had been thrown up after years of being beaten down and he was able to knock it over in a matter of minutes. That was usually what Rowan did others. And now that she was in her victim's shoes, she could say that it was not a very pleasant feeling. She felt even more hopeless and upset than she normally did.
Her tugging on the camera seemed to capture the male's attention and she almost wished that she had just let it go. She suddenly felt that she was correct in her original assumption that he only called her back to hurt her even further. Rowan flinched at the way he said her name. She'd never heard anyone say it so harshly, never heard it said in such malice. One thing she always liked about herself was her name, no matter how much she disliked herself or, rather, her lack of self, her name always made her happy. Releasing her hold on the camera, she brought her arms around herself, as if she was holding herself together, and said, "You really do not need -" but before she could finish he did as she'd done before. Turned and walked away. She could almost understand, now, why he'd called after her. It was rather frustrating having someone walk away from you when you have something to say to them. Rowan brought the butts of her hands up to her eyes and rubbed at them, certain she was ruining her make-up even more.
She glared hatefully at his retreating figure, at his sodden lab coat. Rowan felt a little bit better knowing she wasn't the only one to lose something in their scuffle - knowing clothing as she did, she was certain there was no way of saving the lab coat. She was certain he would try and she knew that thinking about how his attempts failed, later, would make her feel better while waiting anxiously to get her camera back. That's when it hit her, when would she get her camera back? She knew most of the people in her house simply by living among them for so long and the blond boy was certainly not a Sournois (although he would fit in just fine). Knowing that he was still within earshot, she yelled as loud as she could, "YOU HAVE UNTIL NOON ON SATURDAY." Then, feeling the need to establish a specific location, "THE GRUB PUB!" There, she supposed. It was done. She suddenly felt heavy and exhausted, dreading the walk back to her dorm. Rowan was certain she was a sight to see and that, while she was almost completely embarrassed, being seen in this state would only make it hurt worse. But at least it was all over now, she had nearly an entire week to build back her wall and even form plan of defense. (no such thing as being late, yo!!!)
