The morning greeted her swiftly and with cheer as Astrid descended her spiraling staircase. Waving her wand a large blackboard zoomed to the front of the class. The old hinges squeaked and groaned as they awoke from yet another long break. Once again she flicked her wand causing the books in the back to straighten up neatly. Papers floated past her, landing softly into precise piles.
The desks, which seemed to have minds of their own, suddenly looked slightly less dull than they had before. The windows shot open and the soft, sheer white curtains fluttered carelessly against the breeze. The scent of autumn leaves pulled at her senses and Astrid, now seated at her desk, felt a wash of calm wash over her. This meant only one thing: school was back in session.
This also meant that many students would be grumbling and groaning as they walked the halls. Most would be asking to return to their beds while the rest would be complaining how it's a sin to be up so early. Since her class was no longer first thing in the morning and now in the afternoon she had some time before her first and seconds years filled the corners of the classroom.
And how did she spend her time? Reading, a rather interesting book on the struggles of a medieval man living in 21st century London on account of a defective time turner, and sipping on her tea. She'd gotten about halfway through when a small chime sounded off signaling to her that class would be starting soon. Without rising she silenced the clock and continued reading smirking once as she heard the loud march of footsteps nearing the door.

The class that Rowan had the least amount of information on was Care of Magical Creatures. She'd never taken it before and neither had any of her older sisters so she had no idea what really went on in that class. All she had to gage her reaction on was the reading material for the class which were, in all honesty, not leaving the best of impressions. One of the books had even tried to eat her hand! And with that stellar impression, Rowan kind of wished she hadn't taken the class. Knowing her luck, she would end up being eaten alive during the practical exam and the school would stage an elaborate cover-up.
Therefore, with that limited knowledge Rowan nervously approached the classroom. All around her half the students walked to class quickly with a purpose while the other walked slowly in droves. She looked around cautiously before entering the room and felt her heart come up in to her throat when she walked in to the room. She was the first student. Not only that but she was also unprepared and that mixed with being alone with the teacher did not sit well with her. It set her edge. She smiled a tight smile at the older blonde woman and nodded calmly before rapidly taking a seat. "Uhm, hi," she said, not sounding nearly as confident as she normally did. Rowan only hoped another student would soon come in to class.

Jasmine awoke with a smile on her face and a glimmer in her eyes. Swiftly, she ripped off her bed covers in her dorm and put on her Sournois uniform, her red and black badge gleaming proudly off her chest. Hurriedly, she put together whatever supplies she could (she didn't have enough money to get the books yet) and rushed down to the Care of Magical Creatures classroom. Once she reached the classroom, Jasmine smiled timidly at the pretty professor at the desk and decided to sit next to another student with a Sournois crest. She turned to said student and greeted, "Hello, my name is Jasmine. What's yours?" Although she's nervous about letting her fiery side show, that doesn't mean she has to completely shut herself away from society. Right?

Rowan tried not to let her irritation show when the next student to walk in decided that the seat next to her was a prime location. Her eyes narrows as she took her in. Blonde hair, young, not threatening. Then she noticed the crest on her blue uniform and suddenly understood. Clearly this student thought there was such thing as house solidarity in Sournois. And maybe there was but Rowan was not one to participate in it. She liked being alone and, regardless of their house, didn't particularly like people.
Frowning at the other girl, Jasmine, she tried to express with her eyes that she was not interested in conversation. She just wasn't, that was the way she was. Jasmine wasn't going to change that about her, whether or not they were in the same house. Either the girl was going to move or she would, regardless of how rude it would seem. There were other seats and Rowan would be just as happy in any of them as long as she was left alone. "Rowan," she replied tersely, again trying to subtly hint that it would be best that Jasmine move before Rowan got angry and really mean or Rowan got irritated and left herself.

Sensing the danger in her classmate, Jasmine quickly moved to another seat. The last thing she wanted was to cause trouble. Next, she pulled out all of her books and stationary, sorting them all neatly, trying not to let Rowan bother her too much. Hopefully there will be other students. Right? Since nobody else was in the room yet, Jasmine decided that the best way to pass the time until class started was to begin reading one of the books. Soon, the textbook did its magic and took her far away from the nearly empty classroom. There were different creatures of all sort and it made Jasmine really excited just to think about it.
