Melanie Elliot was new to Beauxbatons and so far had no clue about anything about it. She continually found herself lost in and around the school and refused to lower herself to asking for directions. But today, she decided, that was going to change. She was going to find her way about the school and nothing was going to stop her. Melanie was in the habit of doing everything she set her mind to and doing it again and again until she did it perfectly. She was a determined person as well as immensely passionate about everything she did. She never made excuses and never took no for an answer. Unless it was her answer of course because in her mind, Melanie was always right. It wasn't that she was a genius (although she was) but because she couldn't afford to be wrong because that would trip her on her journey upwards.
As she left the Cossu common room she made a plan of attack, first she would find her classrooms so she would stop being late so often. She didn't mind the awkwardness of walking in to a class while the lesson was already going on but she hated the feeling of being lost. Melanie Elliot refused to be lost. She knew exactly who she was and she knew exactly what she wanted to do and today that was learn her way around the school. She started towards what she believed to be the general direction of the classrooms, taking mental note of certain details she passed. Certain paintings, statues, doorways, etc. When she finally reached the stairway that led down from the Northern towers where the Cossu dorm was located she contemplated trying to find a new way down before decided to save that for another day - it would take up too much time. She had her plan and she was going to stick with it.
So down she went and past the dinning hall, briefly peering in to see if she could spot a familiar face. Her older sister Rowan had been here for quite a few years and Melanie was sure that if she needed help finding her way Rowan was the one to ask. Her sister liked to keep to herself and was pretty bitter towards most people and wouldn't go around talking about how Melanie had needed to ask for help. Mel hated asking for help and loved figuring things out for herself. She was more than a little independent. When she reached the general area of the classrooms she began to look for the ones in particular she needed to know about, noting that the whole thing would have been a lot easier were the classes numbered or if everyone were in the exact same place. The hall she was in mostly held general classes. Classes such as astronomy and herbology and potions and many more were held all over the castle and grounds. Sighing, Mel decided to take a break and lay around an abandoned classroom for a little while.
