Tucking the many books as neatly as she could, Tinley gave her room one last look around making sure she wasn't missing a thing. It seemed trivial to use magic when searching for books that were due not the mention the fact that she rarely left any of them out of her sight. The end of a week had become reason enough for the memorized texts return home. A new weekend offered her another visit to the library. It was rare to see a student left to their own devices in such a place, especially so close to the weekend, but Tinley had come to think if as a second home.
Carefully opening the door of her room she slipped outside and down the long steps leading towards the common room. It was mostly empty, save for one or two students lounging in the soft chairs. The curtains had been drawn letting in streams of sunlight which flowed warmly across the room and a fire, adding much needed heat against the growing cold, had been lit. It crackled and sparked against the wood as she passed by, a breeze slipping over the flames. Nodding a good morning to a few friends Tinley set off towards the library, which didn't take long. Upon entering she noted, once again, how empty it was. A window had been propped open and immediately provided her an answer as to why. Shouts could now be heard from below hinting that many of her fellow students had let themselves out to enjoy what was left of the clear weather.
Pushing the books over the counter towards the librarian, who was busying muttering over a very damaged book on Quidditch, Tinley delved deeper into the rows of books. Pulling things from here and there, she examined the covers closely, only opening a few to gaze over their contents. It was risky business to browse in a library full with magical books. Even after all her years at the castle the redhead was still unsure what books would sound off and which would fly off towards the dark ceiling. Thankfully none of that had happened for some time but still, one must always be cautious. Setting things down at a random table, she went back and forth, carrying heaps and heaps of books and slamming them down on the creaking wood. Wiping her brow she sat down, and began her long process of completely memorization.

❋
By the end of the week, Rowan felt heavy with exhaustion from her classes. It felt as if her courses were gradually consuming her life, swallowing up extra moments everyday. She had attended all of her classes this week, taking painstaking notes in each class. Then, she would either go to the library or her dorm and spend countless hours doing her homework and studying. Some nights she stayed up until the early hours of the morning, making waking up later so much more difficult than it needed to be. Of course, she didn't apprar tired to the outside world, but she was. Oh what she would give for three extra hours of sleep every night. But, if she was anything, Rowan was determined. As soon as she set her eyes on a goal, she would not stop for anything until she reached it.
This was why when most students would be resting, Rowan could be found dragging herself and her textbooks to the library. Even though it was all she did anymore, Rowan was going to study for her Defense Against the Dark Arts quiz even if it was the last thing she did. When she entered the library, Rowan nodded politely to the librarian before walking to her normal spot near the back. She preferred it here to anywhere else in the library as it was usually pretty quiet back there with very little foot traffic. There was no one to bother her and, better yet, no one to fight for her spot over. At the table, she uncerimoniously dumped her book bag on the table, the dark brown bag making a loud bang against the wood. Following this, she ploped herself in to the chair and adjusted her white dress before carefully removing the necessary items from her bag. After much practice, Rowan now had a system for studying and complete silence was part of the procedure.
She was just getting in to her zone when a sound nearby made her head stap up in annoyance. No one else was supposed to be here, let alone one table over. She watched on with anger brewing behind her eyes as the new arrival - a girl of about the same age, from a different house - made multiple trips into the stacks and came back eith an armful of books eachtime. A few times, Rowan had opened her mouth as if to say something to the girl but before she could bite anything out, the girl would be gone and Rowan would be left stewing in her irritation. But then the girl settled and Rowan saw her opportunity. Clearing her throat, she tried to non-verbally convey that the girl was not welcomed. Due to her not particularly liking people, Rowan almost had it down to a science how to get people to leave her alone. The first step was to gouge what kind of person they were - would they be able to notice Rowan's growing agitation without her having to say anything?
(Eh, not my best, sorry!!! But I did promise to reply tonight ~)

It did not occur to her, nor did she really care, that students wouldn't be unlike herself. Stowing away in the library for any students was a rare thing so when the redhead looked up to see the most unfriendly eyes glaring at her from across the span of two tables her jaw grew slack. Mouth hanging open, Tinley nodded once in the direction of the girl before looking away. Despite looking like most girl that passed in the halls, this one was not friendly at all. No, her expression with one of annoyance and Tinley felt a little offended at the thought that someone was trying to scare her from the one place she found solace. Looking up she gave the dark haired girl a sweet smile, cleared her throat loudly and sat back comfortably in her chair.
It was one thing if the girl hated company, but another when some absolute stranger tried using intimidation on her. Tinley would never be swayed by someone that resorted to such tactics. It was clear just how agitated the girl was by her presence as her expression grew darker by the minute. Flipping the pages just loud enough that the girl could hear but not the librarian, she smiled cheerfully. A breeze had wound itself through the shelves in the library, and the semi-warmed weather reached her from the open window. Regardless of the rude company she now had, Tinley was not regretting her plan to spend the day inside, among all her best companions.
Looking up she noticed the girl was still staring at her, a look of absolute murder in her eyes. Well maybe murder was too strong, but she was at a loss for a less harsh word. "Lovely day, isn't it?" Was all Tinley said, placing two finger on her forehead before flicking them away in greeting. Tinley knew when some people, more anti-social than anything, regarded company as a nuisance and it was those people that offered her a chance at some fun. They frequently got very disturbed the more she refused to bow to their demands, their faces twisted with exasperation as the battle went on.Her games weren't out of maliciousness especially not this time. All she wanted to do was read her bloody book quietly without having someone giving her death glares across the tables.

Rowan felt her irritation grow stronger with every minute the girl didn't leave and remained under her glare. Her lips pursed and her face got bright red spots high up in her cheeks, clear physical signs that she was about to lash out. She tried really hard to get ahold of her temper, she always tried to keep it under control, but her fear of being at the butt of another's anger without defense was too much. People scared her but she had enough experience to know that it was better to be the intimidating one. Taking a deep breath, trying to sooth her soul, Rowan looks down and her work and mourned all the studying time she was missing because of this annoying redhead. Clearly, she was unwelcome, why was she not getting the message?
Rowan only became more agitated when it seemed the girl seemed to get the message and had to opposite reaction. Instead of leaving her be as she had hoped for, she only became more obnoxious. If looks could kill, there was no doubt that the other girl would be dead by now, what with Rowan's hazel eyes drilling holes into her head. Two can play that game, Rowan thought menacingly as her mouth curled into a malicious smirk. She had an idea. Placing down the quill she'd been grasping to the side, she started flipping through one of her hefty astronomy tombs, making sure that every time she changed directions the book made a loud noise against the table. Rowan really hoped it would work, she really did not want to revert to her usual ways.
While she deliberately was slamming her book around, Rowan stared at the other girl with her eye brows raised in a dare. She was daring her to say something, to give Rowan and excuse to lash out. Rowan got half her wish when the other girl spoke but almost swore because of how polite the greeting was. Rowan was aware of the fact that it was sarcastic but it would seem rude of her to say anything less polite. Her eyes only dropped into another glare. She hated being backed in to corners and being pushed so early on in a conversation was always a bad sign. Clearing her throat, Rowan began, "If it's so lovely why don't you go outside?" Her tone of voice was scathing but held the illusion of polite conversation. She had grown up in the elite wizarding society - she knew how to play all the games. While she did not necessarily want to play games, she would do so if provoked.
