CORALINE PASCALMagnolia couldn't exactly put into words just how excited she was for today. But when she awoke, it was with a smile on her face and a bounce in her step. For, you see, today was the day that her best friend was arriving at Beauxbatons. If she closed her eyes, Magnolia could easily picture the always-smiling brunette that was Coraline Pascal in her mind - they had, afterall, been best friends ever since their first playdate. Despite being two years older, Coraline was the only one who really understood Magnolia. The only one who had absolute faith that she would acheive every one of her goals and then some. The world was hers for the taking, or that's how Cora made it seem. So, knowing how important Coraline was to Magnolia, it was not hard to imagine the young girl's excitement.
Coraline was supposed to arrive around noon and Magnolia could hardly bear how she went through the day like a ball of excitement. She had woken at six in the morning and, despite numerous attempts, could not find it in herself to fall back asleep - she was too wired with joy. Things simply went downhill from there. She had gotten ready in record time and it only took a total of six minutes to gobble down a slice of toast and an apple for breakfast. Hardly any time had passed from when she woke up to when Magnolia deemed it necessary to find a way to kill time as time seemed to pass so slowly. First, she'd attempted to do her homework but that ended up being a complete failure as she couldn't focus on one subject for more than five minutes. Then, she'd done her nails but taking half-an-hour to wait for then to dry had felt physically painful.
By the time 11:30 came, Magnolia had been thrown out of her dorm by her roommates who had almost been driven to insantity by her endless fluttering. Her elder sister, Rowan, had threatened to shove her down a flight of stairs to help her stay still for a moment or two. Needless to say, she was ready for Coraline to arrive. Which was why she was standing in the main entrance a whole half-hour early. Magnolia stood bouncing on the balls of her feet impatient with her hands anxiously tugged on her braid. It was a little odd for her to be waiting around as she was, waiting for others certainly not being something she was know for. But this was for Coraline, she was different from everyone else. She was Magnolia's biggest cheerleader and moat frequent teacher. Coraline had even taught Magnolia how to ride a bike and fly a broom. Had spent the entire summer after her first year at school teaching Magnolia all the cool things she had learned. And now here they both were, going to attend school together! If only Coraline would arrive before Magnolia was driven to murder.

Coraline's face naturally fell into its smile as her eyes fell upon the large castle in the distance. The time had finally come, today she was coming back to school (following a brief stint at home when she'd fallen ill) and it was going to be better than it had been before - Magnolia was at school now, too. It was almost the ideal situation. Admittedly, Coraline was well-known for quickly adapting to any situation she was put in, doing so with a smile, but that did not mean she didn't make preferences when she could. And did she ever prefer the option of attending school alongside her best friend. She could see it now, the two of them passing endless days together, procrastinating on schoolwork then cramming together just before exams. It sounded horrid but the kind of horrid that made Coraline happy all the way down to her toes.
These were her thoughts as she walked up to the castle, making her all the more excited with every step she took. Due to the fact that she was early, she was hardly expecting to see her friend present as she shouldered through the heavy doors of the main entrance. But there she was. Coraline let out a peal of laughter at the sight of the blonde girl and ran right up to her, wrapping her up in a hug. "Maggie!" she laughed out, knowing the nickname irritated her friend to no end. Indeed, she could almost hear in her mind the way that Magnolia would soon grit out a correction of the name, countering by calling her Carolina (a name Coraline didn't hate nearly as much as she let on for Magnolia's sake). Releasing the younger girl from her grasp, she pushed her out to arms-length so she could inspect her. The last time she had seen Magnolia had only been three-weeks ago, hardly the longest time they'd been separated, but these days Magnolia was growing by the minute.
She payed her friend a dazzling smile, one the dimpled her cheeks, and couldn't help but think that yes, this term was going to be fantastic.

Magnolia's heart leaped into her throat when the heavy door was pushed open earlier than expected - it couldn't be and she wasn't ready for this. Patting down the front of her attire, she took a sharp breath in through her nose before preparing to launch herself at Coraline the moment she walked through the door. Merlin, she really hoped it was Coraline walking in. But before she could take a step there was a flash of familiar brown hair and then she was tangled up in a hug she knew very well. It was without a doubt, the infallible Coraline and the fact they had both arrived to their meeting point early only proved that they were on the same mental wavelength.
Their mental connection was the reason why she knew - knew deep in her bones - that Coraline would squeal out the dreaded nickname. She shuddered and physically removed her friend's hold on her and shoved her back. "Why, 'Lineyline, why ever would you call me such a horrendous name?" she said with a playful shove at her shoulders. Coraline knew full-well how much she despised being called Maggie. It was childish and she hadn't even liked it when she was a child. Sadly, it was harder to come up with a nickname that irritated Coraline. Everyone she tried just made her go Aw, so cute!. Rolling her eyes, Magnolia turned to her friend and almost passed out when she realized - she'd cut her hair!
For as long as she had known the other girl, she had always had long curly hair. Now, it barely passed her shoulders and was lightly waved. Merlin, it was so weird looking at her friend with her hair so short. "You cut your hair!" she excalimed dumbly, at loss for words. She couldn't exactly picture Coraline with short hair but there she was. It brought back memories of the time her hair at caught fire when she was nine and it'd been necessary to get it cut to her chin. Only recently had it reached a length she was happy with and at the time, she had spent hours crying pathetically to Coraline about the stupid hair cut. Giggling, she mentioned it to her friend. "Oh my Merlin, remember the time," pause to laugh, "Balsam lit my hair on fire and I cried for a million years about getting it cut?" Ah yes, good times.
