The faint snoring of her roommates' was like music to her ears. There was no feeling of guilt in her conscience. It wasn't as if she was going to do this everyday. Once in a while wouldn't hurt. Sometimes, she just needed to cut class. It was a day where she could just paint all day. It was a day of relaxation. Well, until someone found out. She quietly crawled out of her bed, careful not to disturb her roommates. As quickly as she could, she got ready for the day. Finished, she rushed over to scribble down a note for her friends, assuring them that she had headed out early. Alice slipped out of the dorm room quietly. Very few people were lingering in the common room. Most of them weren't too concerned about her. Alice had always been the type of person who would get up at the crack of dawn. Since school started, she had chosen to get a full night's sleep.
Today, however, she woke up extra early. It wasn't as if she was unused to this. She had done it several times before. It didn't hurt to skip a day's worth of stressful and boring lessons. All she had to do now was meet up with her friend, Mae. Most days, she found herself wishing that Mae was her real sister. Unfortunately, Diana was her real sister. It was real obvious to see too. The two girls shared that same blonde hair and slightly lanky figure. The blue eyes were almost the same except Diana's held a more intellectual brightness while her own often appeared starry. Occasionally, she changed her hair to a ginger color though. It was mostly to mess with her sister as she had a crush on some redhead back at Hogwarts. Once Diana saw that red color, she was like a bull in Spain. As punishment, she was forced to read books. The boring kind. Her sister was a real loving person, wasn't she?
Things would be a lot easier of Mae was her sister but sometimes, the things we want the most can never happen. Alice just had to make do with being her friend. She snuck out the castle and headed towards the gardens where the two girls had arranged their meeting. She moved around as she set up her art stand. It was an absolutely lovely day to be outside. Pretty soon, she heard the sounds of footsteps. Alice turned her head to see Mae just in time. She waved her hand in greeting to her friend.

you won't remember what you see When Maelys had first suggested skipping classes, she had felt pretty bad. Alice was young and impressionable, who was she to lead her astray. As the elder one in their duo she was practically morally obliged to encourage her to go to class. But over time the guilt had faded due to selfish enjoyment. The brunette enjoyed Alice's company and couldn't think of anyone better to pass the time with. Indeed, lately when Maelys was writing her own little life story in her head she would pen Alice in as her younger sister. At first it had seemed a little odd to her but the more time she passed with the blonde, the more natural it seemed. They were just so similar, it thrilled her to be able to influence Alice. Flattered her, really. Because Alice was such a interesting girl, reminiscent of how Mae liked to believe she had been at the age of twelve, and did it ever make her feel old that that had been five years ago. But she could still remember it, like it was yesterday. Mainly because it had been during the time frame where she had attempted to force herself to read the top 100 classic wizard novels and that had been a trial, for sure. Information such as that was what Maelys wanted to share with Alice - don't read classic novels they're a waste of your time. Even though Alice was more on the artistic side whereas Mae was one with literature.
Indulging her and Alice's individual passions was the whole plan, actually. They were going to meet to relax, take a break from classes, and, in Mae's case, read a good book or two. The night before she had carefully scanned the shelf of her bookshelf filled with the books she had yet to read. Had read the back of most of the books, trying to determine which would be the best to read in the company of another. A book that had funny lines she could read aloud to Alice or one that made her feel happy and elated, she certainly did not want to feel sad during this special occasion (that was, sadly for Mae's grades, becoming more frequent). And what a perfect day it was for being outdoors, as well. Maelys was hardly the outdoorsy type -when it was her turn to choose where they would meet, it was almost always the Room of Requirement - but Alice had insisted and let it be known that Mae had a soft spot for Alice. Perhaps it's for the best she isn't my actual sister, Maelys thought and she carefully crept out of her dorm in her high-heeled sandals (her shoes of preferance for every occasion). Whereas Alice was right at home with her fellow creative students in Cossu, Maelys had been shocked to be sorted into Sournois. When she had arrived to Beauxbatons, she had been nearly certain she was destined for Rouerie (after having read every detail of every house during the weeks leading up to her arrival). Alas, she was fortuneate enough to have found a home of sorts in her house, considering how she had believed it to be ill suited to her. Although, she had always been too sarcastic for some once she got over her initial shyness.
Maelys always pondered such things as she walked through the Sournois common room, it was nearly habit, really. But eventually she escaped into the general castle and walked with a purpose, as she was running late as she often did. Alice always wanted to meet so early and Mae was certainly not a morning person, but she did her best. When she reached her exit, she hesitated momentarily before shouldering through the door and frowning at the smell of fresh air. She was simply too accustomed to the stale air found in the library, the stench of books was a comfort to her. Everything outside stung her nose, too sharp with its freshness. But as she was running late already, she did not have much time to spare. She even tried to make up for time doing a rathher strange jog-walk towards the gardens with her books uncomfortable hitting against her side with every step she took. However, Maelys was certainly not atheletic and it was not long before she was fatigued enough to slow to her usual walking pace (which was considerably slow, in all honesty) but it was perfect timing. She had reached her destination and there was Alice, waiting. She smiled and waved back at the blonde, tingling with the excitement of doing something against the rules. "Hey," she greeted before uncerimoniously kicking off her shoes and falling to the ground to sit. If she was going to be reading outdoors, she was going to be comfortable.

It was rare for Alice to enjoy reading. She was never really the literature type. It was the curious life of a Ravenclaw. Most would expect them to have their noses in a book and shout out answers during lessons. Yet, they always forgot about the creative ones. It looked like bookworms filled the house. Her sister was one of them. Well, Mae was an avid reader too but she didn't pester Alice to read something. That was the exact difference. She ran a hand through her currently blonde hair. Being a metamorphmagus did have its perks. Sometimes, she got a little bored of her plain brown hair and eyes. Thus, she could switch up her appearance at any time. Lily was like that too but she tended to stay more with her blonde hair and blue eyes. Lily preferred to mainly use her abilities to prank people, Amanda mostly. Alice used it for the sole purpose of changing her appearance. Yup, Cossu was definitely the house for her.
Alice tilted her head up at the sky. It was a beautiful day to be outside. She was glad that she had suggested going to the gardens instead of the Room of Requirement. It was good to switch things up sometimes. She set up her art stand as soon as she got outside. Now, she just had to decide what she should paint. Not flowers since they were overdone. The sky? No, that was a bit of a bore. It was nothing but mixing a bunch of blues and whites together. A splendid idea crossed her mind but she would have to ask for Mae's permission first. Now, she just had to get here first. In all fairness, Alice was an early riser so Mae wasn't late in any way. Alice was just simply early. She watched as her friend made her way over. She waited until the brunette was settled before bounding up to her. "Could you do me a favor, Mae, please?" she asked before explaining the rest. "Is it fine if I paint you today?" Hopefully, Mae would agree.

you won't remember what you see One of the things Maelys liked most about Alice was how they had a mutual understanding in regards to their escape sessions - it was rare for them to talk and even rarer for them to try and engage the other in whatever they were doing. It seemed preposterous to Maelys to attempt to force reading upon Alice as she was quite certain she would be perturbed had Alice attempted to get her into painting. And, Mae could distinctly remember the time the younger girl had confided in her that it annoyed her greatly how her sister tried to force reading upon her. Mae, however, was of the opinion that there is no sense forcing someone to do something they had no desire to do, it didn't feel the same as finding someone who had a genuine interest in the topic. Thus, Maelys sat quietly as she read her book while Alice did whatever she normally did. Occasionally, they currently blonde girl would do something to distract her from her reading and Mae would watch on for five minutes trying to figure out what the other girl was doing.
She had just reached a particularly fascinating point in her novel when Alice's voice slashed through her concentration. Looking up, she tilted her head and tried to make sense of the words spoken to her. Maelys had a tenancy to forget how to hear words while she was reading and usually it took her a few minutes to get her thoughts straight if she was in the middle of reading. When she realized Alice wanted to paint her, her cheeks quickly filled with blood as she wondered whyever someone would want to paint her. Although she was freely admit she was hardly a troll, Mae was quite confident that her appearance was perfectly average. However it was Alice and, like she'd been with the request to be outside today, t was hard for Maelys to refuse the younger girl. "I suppose," she spoke to her black sandels, too embarrassed to look Alice in the eye. "Is there anything in particular you need me to do?" Laughing, Mae striked a pose, mocking what an actual model would do.
((Sorry it's late and so short!!!))
