History
______________________________
(Iriea Blanchette) Catrienne Aglaya Amorette, or better known as Katrina, is the only daughter of Grand Duke Aurelius-Amadeus. Her father is Emperor Oberon's, the absolute monarch of all fairies, best friend and advisor. Her mother, who is half-witch, half-fae, is the great-granddaughter of the Emperor’s grand-uncle, thus making her the Archduchess according to the Fae’s monarchy. Despite having a living husband at Archduchess Florentina-Valentinette's sight and being the center of the Grand Duchess’s jealousy, she pleasantly agrees to be the Grand Duke’s lover. Once the news of the Archduchess’s pregnancy spreads, many know it is not the product of her and her husband, the Archduke, who title is not high enough speak up to Katrina’s father. The aristocrats do not how to celebrate the future’s child and what title she holds in society. Illegitimate children in the upper class are distinguished by having no dash between their two first names, and are neither rare nor popular, but Katrina is different case.
Emperor Oberon has no siblings, no children, only distant relatives, if he can find and claim them. When crowned as the sole sovereign, he signed a petition requesting and promising himself to leave the kingdom under the Grand Duke’s care and absolute power if anything should happen. A few thousand years later, Queen Titania, who title is not Empress because the Emperor has no love, no trust, and no thoughts for her, still has not able to bear the kingdom an heir, yet she harms all the Emperor’s lovers. She is manipulated under the influence of the Grand Duke, who tells her to banish all of His Majesty’s mistresses in order to preserve any heir produce by him within the highest ranks.
The birth of Katrina finally raises questions from the entire kingdom whether she is the new heir to the throne next the Emperor and her father under the petition. When that question eventually reaches the ruling class, the Convention of the Emperor meets and discuss, with the appearance of the humiliated Queen Titania, the angry Grand Duchess, and the pleased Archduchess. The Queen believes she has been fooled by the Grand Duke her whole life and starts to trick the Katrina’s maids to hurt her and to take revenge for herself, but none of her attempts is successfully accomplished. The Grand Duchess plans future accusations to exile Katrina when she is older, whether she will bear the Grand Duke and maybe the kingdom an heir or not. The archduchess’s worries increase every day, but she still happily moves in with the Grand Duke’s home more frequently. The feud between two highest ranked families is starting to get ugly when the aristocrats and the commoners begin to take sides. Murders and accidental death cause by the Grand Duchess and Queen Titania increase under any suspicions to aid Katrina.
In one of the darkest days of the feuds, the Emperor cries,” If it is a murderer who ends my days, then he deserves to perceive this madness... not this innocent child!”
The Emperor speaks with his best friend secretly to send Katrina to the human world and shield her from the fairies until it is the right time for her to understand and to come back. The Grand Duke is shocked to be parted from his daughter, but even upset more when he has accept her to be educated by any commoner and the powerless. Luckily, the Emperor has spoken to the headmistress of Beauxbatons Academy of Magic, where her mother used to attend before she claims her title. It is the only magical academy to accept his request. Meanwhile, Katrina will be under the care of a courtesan, a royal teacher who specializes in court’s behavior and requirements for his/her rank, 8 royal maids, who are 750 years old octuplets but look 36, and a trained bodyguard of the Emperor, the forever 23 years old because of a sorcerer’s spell, Percian-Antonius. They will train her for everything she needs to know once she comes back, including homeschooling her and keeping her away from modern society’s freedom. There is one city, because of their beliefs and wealth, meets all the requirements for her safety, the growing Dubai.
Personality
______________________________
Katrina grows up as an arrogant, but kind-hearted person. She looks down on all uneducated beings and refuses to speak to them. She finds volunteering too tiring and unnecessary. She has found many friends and enjoys playing with some of them, but never once she has the heart to treat them the same way she treats the people with the same status. She blends in with all classes of society and has a sweet reputation. Yet every time she comes home, she has stories to tell and some people to criticize; which usually are the same people who find her like-able, but whose behaviors she considers unacceptable and calls them “the uneducated.” She likes gossips and finds spreading them to one another increase people’s trust to tell her the same. No secrets are safe with her; only she chooses what to do with them. But no one knows what she has done, and for her, life is good that way. We all find mean girls unapproachable, which exist within her group, but maybe if they know Katrina is the same as them, she will be downgraded to a hypocrite. Luckily only one finds out her secret.
“How do you stand saying the same thing as the people you hate right behind their backs?” exclaims Percian.
“Percy, they’re clearly not the same,” Katrina rolls her eyes.
“Fine... similar. But you're like a hypocrite. Maybe that will make you rethink.”
“I’m not low like a hypocrite. That is for the children of the less inferior society. I’m simply unwise, sometimes, which is forgivable for my age.”
Percian's perception makes her angry, but she smiles just to prove she's right.
She is a clever and mischievous for that is the only way she can get some money after spending all 20,000 Dirhams each month.
“You own me 85 Dirhams,” Katrina smiles sweetly.
“I took 70 Dirhams. You can’t fool me,” Percy stares back at her.
“Remember when I told you I also have an interest system? It’s when if don’t pay back the next day, your loan increase one dirham per day.”
“What kind of interest system is that?! If you ever own a bank, I'd be one of those people to bankrupt you,” he says, laughing.
She is an intelligent girl and expects to get the best results on the diligent work she has done. She likes to think outside the box, which is her habit after all. It makes her teacher happy anyways. Her other favorite hobby is fashion. She likes to create things, like the fashion trends that were never thought of, and fixing broken things, including people. She has a sense of colors, and it makes her especially proud. Her natural talents help her academically, creativity, and many times, mentally.

One of the maids brings in a letter from Beauxbatons Academy. It is time for Katrina to move.
“If she is going to an empress…” Lady Noeilles, Katrina’s mentor, says, looking at the letter.
“ If? Is this not all the ‘practice’ for her to the throne? She has to fight a bloody battle to get there, before and after. If His Majesty likes her, which I hope he will, she will live in a more lavish and competitive life than she already does. And who knows what will happen to her! Be more extravagant than caring for the kingdom's affairs?” Percian interrupts.
“Calm down, boy! And no, of course it is not all the practice to get there! Many of us are mischievous, and many are kind. The girl has both of the traits, one in inside and one in the outside.”
“Maybe we should talk about this later, though I feel she deserves to know now.”
“Just her identity is enough. She will figure out her importance when she gets there. The school will protect her. Even the Queen can’t hurt in there. The problem is maybe the children. So I am thinking you should come along, as a student.”
“I know you’re gonna say that. I will speak with her.”
Percian finds Katrina swinging in the garden happily and approaches her. How am I going to make this plausible?
“We are taking a four to six years vacation in France. After all, we’re supposed to be there in the first place,” he says.
“Why are we not there in the first place?” Katrina looks confused.
“Well, um... Because it needs to be renovated. For a long time. Anyways, you should be excited. You’re going to attend a French school.”
She looks stunned, almost shocked. “I think I should excited," she replies sarcastically. "Going to school with all those ‘other’ people of society! Excuse me, I have to speak with Lady Noeilles. ”
Percian grabs her arm and soothes her hair. It is her favorite thing for anyone to do since her baby days. It makes her body feels pleasant and calm. “I am from the ‘other’ society…”
“Well, you’re different. You know me, and you’re like my best friend. They’re all using me for my wealth, and they think I don’t know.”
“Because they’re hu…. I mean, people are desperate, and that’s what they do. Someday, who knows, it may be you.”
“Well, at least you’ll be there,” she smiles and pokes his cheeks. Percian, however, wonders if he still will be there.
Katrina decides their transportation will be by train. They all think she is insane, refusing the personal jet. She says that she wants to look at the scenery, not the clouds….
They soon arrive in Cannes. Percian drives an expensive Bugatti Veyron to the newly renovated château located somewhere inside a pack of trees. She looks at her new home with pride. It is so peaceful in Cannes, excessively different from Dubai. She will enjoy this serenity for a while.
Lady Noeilles does not hesitate, and she pulls Katrina into the living room for a private talk. “You’re attending Beauxbatons next week. I want to tell you it is not a normal school. It is a school for special people.”
“You’re saying I’m crazy,” she laughs like it is a joke.
“Oh no, dear. Special, as in magic. I don’t know how to make this easy. But please, if you ask everyone in the house, they will tell you the same.”
“I know,” she giggles at her mentor like she is waiting for this moment, “I live in that house long enough to see all the things that have been done. The maids are careless, and Percy tells me that I’m a fairy like it's a joke. But I know it is true. I sneak when the maids work and at you when I leave after our lessons. I want explanations, but Percy insists it’s better not to know yet.”
Lady Noeilles looks relieve, like a burden off her head for a long time. “Percy never tells me, but it is alright now. You’re a smart child. I almost expect myself for you to know that. Almost.” She turns away in silence for a while and looks back again, “I must warn you that many won’t find you amiable when you arrive at Beauxbatons, whether they know your fake loving personality or not.”
“Why?”
“Because you are special, that’s all," she sighs and continues. "Anyways, there will be a carriage waiting for you, with others inside. When someone asks for your name, only say ‘Katrina.’ I will write you two letters and you can read one of it once you are inside, with Percian. The other one once you are sorted by the Cloak.”
“What?! He’s coming?! Why? He is much older, is he not?”
“ Yes. All fairies and witches are, but you are special remember? He is your bodyguard. It's a long story dear... He is coming as a student and will be sorted in his old House that he has graduated from, if that is what he still is.” She quickly leads Katrina out the door and says Percian will answer every other question she has. Fear crosses her face, and it is so transparent that Katrina can see it very clearly.
Time pass, and she departs for the carriage to Beauxbatons. There are three other boys in the carriage, making her the only girl. She feels awkward, but Percian excitedly starts a conversation with the other boys. They aren’t so bad, she thinks and begins to read the letter. Inside, the letter explains what fairies do, what the social classes are, what class Katrina falls in. Although, still, nothing about her identity in the first letter. Finally, they arrive at Beauxbatons. As promise, she only goes by “Katrina.”
The students enjoy themselves looking at the palace, admiring it as their new school. Katrina personally thinks it looks fancy for a school, but definitely not as fancy when she has to share with a thousand other students. She enters the school. Her nerves are driving her crazy, and she crosses her arm to hide her anxiousness. She stands right in the front with Percian. He is staring at a young teacher, more like a substitute, sitting on one of the grand chairs, and she stares at back at him. No one is surprise at his arrival, as if they expect it, but she does. They must know each other well. A teacher holds a list of name and gives students direction for the sorting cloak. She sees her name in the first line, and when her name is called, some students stop talking and stare. Some smile and some are burned with hatred and disgust.
Walking up the ornamental stairs to the chair where the blue cloak sits, Katrina wonders what the cloak is thinking. Is it going choose her for the sweet and innocent girl everyone knows? Or is it her other righteous, childish, and devious self that many won’t find like-able?
She gracefully puts on the cloak and awaits the answer…
