hindsight's a wonderful thingPlacing an open palm against her forehead, Nerine encouraged her latest headache to remove itself from the front portion of her brain. The annoying affliction began earlier that day, threatening the beautiful mood she'd started with. Unfortunately the nurse had been out for much of that day much to the cossu's dismay so it was with a cringe of neural pain that she followed one of her mothers often repeated solutions: a brisk walk. Now that she was here, stomping through the woods of the school, she found this walk neither helpful nor relaxing and began cursing at herself for this choice. In fact, her headache only worsened as the sun began to peek out from behind the thinning clouds. What once look like a dreary day turned into the brightest Beauxbatons had seen yet. Of course this nothing to soothe the pounding ache that now began to spread towards her temples.
She didn't put it past the stifling air of the common room where she had spent much of her morning as the reason for her pain. Many of her classes, or professors really, did not take into consideration the extended absence of the student body as they piled assignment upon assignment on their heads. Nerine herself had been neck deep in an extensive research paper when she called out in frustration and pain. Not to mention several of the students, who had also expected a cold rainy day, had requested the fireplace reach out of control temperatures as well as several young girls deciding that was the precise moment to what perfume scent matched them the most. All of these situations coupled together finally accumulating in her standing in the middle of the Enchanted Woods hiking path.
Huffing, she plopped down on the nearest rock, running a swift hand through her hair. Thankfully the sun was now obscured from her vision as a canopy of weeping willow branches caved in around her. As the final dredges of pain began to ebb away, Nerine found herself able to relax. Hmm, maybe there was some truth to her mothers words. Leading back against a flat rock, she watched as birds flitted back and forth, twittering happily in their airborne play. She'd never spent much time near this part of the school grounds, save for her care of magical creatures lessons and the few days during Camp Beauxbatons. No, she usually favored the lake for her walks which posed a problem for her current predicament as there was absolutely not enough coverage from the sun. Placing a hand over her eyes, she closed them against the darkness, intent on listening to all the sounds that surrounded her.
There was no danger here, she knew, as the path was enchanted not only for the safety of the students but for its inhabitants more importantly. Safe in the knowledge that she wouldn't be disturbed but anything unsavory (or rather that she wouldn't be disturbing any creatures) she settled in for the afternoon, her headache gone in a snap. This relaxation also provided her with a nice break from her homework which she was very careful to not think about lest it break into her serenity. This also posed no problem for her as soon enough a much needed nap stole the attention of her body.
