Autumn was the best time of year. Abi couldn't wait to pull out all of her comfy sweaters, most of the being a bit too large for her. She had stolen a couple of old sweatshirts from her brother's closet before leaving to come back to Beauxbatons. Andrew wouldn't mind though since he was a big businessman at the Ministry now. He didn't have time to wear sweatshirts anymore. Justifying her actions as just and completely sane, Abi had pulled on a large red sweater and wore black leggings to keep her legs warm. Abi really hated jeans and tried to avoid them as much as possible. Dresses and skirts were more frequent in her trunk, but Abi had the occasional cottony awesomeness called leggings. It literally felt like pajama pants, but they weren't.
It was a day that was perfect for studying outside. It was just the right temperature that didn't make you think about how hot or how cold you were and Abi loved that about autumn. She grabbed her Astronomy textbook and tucked it underneath her arm. She walked through the Beauxbatons castle with her head held up so she could stare anybody that walked past her. It wasn't necessarily to scare or intimidate people off. As much as that made her smile when people told her about looking others in the eye, she just found it polite to do so. Petty peasants, Abi thought with an eye roll.
When Abi found her spot to sit in while looking through her Astronomy textbook underneath the oak tree by the lake. The lake shimmered in the afternoon sun and the grass was dry thankfully. She opened her textbook and opened it up to the third chapter. Abi changed her sitting position a few times before finally settling down on her stomach to read. She tucked her hair behind her ears as the slight wind was making her hair get in her eyes, making her unable to read. She already had it up into a messy bun, but there were those few strands that were too short to properly be pulled back into a ponytail without the assistance of a bobby pin. Abi took a deep breath to take in the fresh air of autumn around her and knew this was a good decision.

♥ ♥ ♥ THE FOREST OF TALKING TREES they used to sing about the birds and the bees x x While Rowan certainly had a preference for the Spring time, autumn was close second on her list of favourite seasons. Mostly because she loved being able to look out the window and watch as the world changed colours and enjoyed reflecting those colours in the clothes she wore. Today's ensemble was an example of just that, perfect for the early fall season. It was a dress (when wasn't it a dress?) that had a fairly basic white and fall-colours plaid pattern. It'd been a gift from her mother last year and she figured now was as good a time as any to wear it, but to do what she wasn't sure. It was a little too cold for her to go outside in a dress but she wanted to take a stroll through the school's grounds with her camera and capture the beauty of it all. The warm reds, the crisp oranges, the muted yellows. The all made her smile. She figured if she was going to have to endure winter after this, she was going to make the most of the beautiful leaves while she still can - the outside temperature wasn't going to stop her.
So off she went, trusty camera tucked in to it's case over her shoulder. Such a sight was becoming more and more frequent as she fell in to the habit of taking her camera everywhere with her, even in the castle. Sometimes she would take a quick snap of an empty corridor or an unused classroom with the desks pushed around the room haphazardly. Rowan liked the idea that even in a castle as full and bustling as Beauxbatons she was able to find the bits and pieces of peace hidden in little caches everywhere. And, even when she was surrounded by people she tried to find them. Rowan had almost an entire collection of photographs she'd taken during supper one evening, her camera pointed upwards at the ceiling and capturing the tranquility above that contrasted so nicely with the noise that had surrounded her down below. Before she hadn't been much of a photographer but lately she'd been participating in it more and more often. It was almost as if she was developing a new hobby, something that was strange to her as Rowan was very set in her ways. She liked to do things a certain way (her way) and rarely ever broke from her self-made routine.
Once outside she began towards The Oak Tree, one of her favourite spots on the grounds. She liked going there early in the morning or late in to the evening, just before curfew. This was because Rowan wasn't the only one who loved the Oak Tree, it was a spot that most of the students of Beauxbatons enjoyed and it was plenty large enough for multiple people but Rowan did not like to share. As she walked, she considered the possibility of another student being there and what she would do about it. Past experiences with dealing with students from the school had proven that they did not react well with her brash manners and usually such things instigated fights Rowan had no desire to participate in. Therefore, she supposed, were she to find someone else by the tree she would try and ignore them and get on as she would otherwise. She would keep to herself and not bother anyone unless they spoke to her first, then she would (try to) politely ask them to leave.
That was the plan she made while she walked to the tree but once she arrived her plans were thrown to the wind for she knew the person who was at the tree - she was her latest brother-in-law's younger sister. Abigail she believed her name was. While Rowan hadn't talked to her much, the little conversations they had had given her the impression that Abigail irritated her slightly less than most people did and that she didn't mind her company. However, now, at school, she wasn't so sure how she would get on with the other girl. Rowan knew quite well that people didn't always act themselves while around family. So, with that in mind she offered a polite, "Hi," to break the other girl's attention from her book.
