Lily awoke to the sound of birds chirping outside her window. Sounds cheesy, yes? Well, they weren't only chirping, but pecking her window as well. She moaned and put a pillow over her head, not ready to give into being conscious. On a normal day, if her clock wasn't currently on the floor (face down), she would have looked at it and remarked about how early the birds were up or some crazy comment that only the redhead would make to herself. Apparently today was not a normal day because her clock was face down on the ground and she had no idea how early was being woken up. Even though that part of the day was not normal it didn't mean that she didn't go take her usual shower and the like. On her way to the bathroom, spring clothes in hand, she noticed that her roommates were still asleep. Sometimes, meaning usually, Lily was the last one up because they were early risers or Lily was a late sleeper at school. She had never been a late sleeper when she was with her mother and grandparents, but that was probably because she was waking up early for early morning school things or just for school five out of the seven days of the week.
Lily turned on the shower and went to go fetch her wand so she could make the water hotter faster. She quickly made the water her favorite temperature and took off her clothes before going inside the shower. The warm water felt good on her skin and Lily was slightly bummed about taking showers in the summer. Taking showers, sunscreen, and bugs were the only things she resented about summer. Bugs were never fun, any time of the year, but in the summer they seemed to flourish and breed like rabbits. Sunscreen was just annoying and made your skin smell bad and feel weird for awhile. Showers were dreadful because you come from being in the hot sun and sweating or just feeling like you had the biggest fever ever, so taking a hot shower. Sure, Lily had tried turning the water cold, but she didn't like cold showers or anywhere close to cold showers, so she was stuck with her deadly hot ones. So, as Lily took this spring shower, she was enjoying the way the warm water fell onto her skin, not making it overly hot.
Lily washed out the shampoo that she had put in her hair and started applying conditioner. She then started scrubbing her body down with dove soap. Lily put face wash cream on, surprisingly, her face. She then dunked her face into the water, making the face wash, yet again surprisingly, wash off her face. Lily then washed off the conditioner, applying the last face stuff. She washed that out quickly, staying in the shower a few seconds longer than she needed. Lily turned off the water and dried herself off using her favorite red and yellow towels. She then brushed her hair and put detangler in it, to make it shine more and obviously be less tangled. Hence the detangler part in the word. Lily put on her spring clothing, white shorts with a green tank top and sandals. She then put her hair in a braid and went to go check the time. Lily picked up her clock and found that it was far to early to be up, and lay back on her bed, somehow managing to fall asleep. The next time she got up, it was her roommates stirring. Lily was somewhat surprised to already find herself clothed before she remembered what had happened. Her hair was already dry, but her hairdo messed up. Lily fixed her hair and went downstairs to the common room and out the portrait hole. She walked down the stairs to the entrance hall and to the dining hall. Lily sat down at the Rouerie table and asked her fellow Rouerie's what was happening.

Samantha had been too nervous to sleep last night and still felt strange this morning, even as the vestiges of the night faded. Puling on an oversize red sweater and running a comb through her long red hair, she made her way down to the dining chamber hoping maybe some breakfast would wake her up.With a brief moment of excitement at the many different foods on offer she chose randomly and sat looking at her plate and seriously considering eating some of it, if she ever found the energy. "So what's happening?" came a perky voice from her left. Samantha jumped and turned to look at the girl next to her, a fellow red head with a bright smile and slightly mussed clothes. "Oh umm, I don't really know. I'm pretty new." She offered apologectically. Samantha wished she had said something that sounded smarter, maybe a conversation starter? It was to early anyway. Ask her if she saw that Doctor Who? said her internal voice of logic. God that voice was useless- the girl was a witch, she probably hadn't even heard of Doctor Who. Samantha realised she'd been quietly staring at her breakfast for a while now, contemplating what to say. the girl's smile was starting to disappear. Then she realised she'd already got the perfect conversation starter right in front of her. Gesturing at her breakfast with one hand she replied "Well I found a pineapple which is great because you know, you should always start your day with something yellow and spikey. Or so I've been told." Pleased with the wisdom of this comment, she stuck out her hand at the girl to introduce herself, "I'm Samantha," she said, "And the pineapple's name is Kevin."

As Lily sat down, contemplating what to eat, she was actually wondering how many hours she got of sleep. Lily wasn't even aware of when she got to bed nor when she woke up. She was aware of when she went back to bed which was around six thirty so she must have woken up again around eight thirty or nine. Something around there. Lily always liked to keep track of how much sleep she got so she new how early she would have to go to bed the next day. Yes, Lily liked to be sure that she always had enough sleep and generally she didn't have bags under eyes like most people did. One of the upsides to not having bags under your eyes was that you didn't need whatever makeup you would put there and Lily didn't exactly enjoy putting makeup on. Her mother had once educated her in the makeup putting on process and Lily was quite proud of her skill, but she would never truly like putting it on regularly, instead she loved doing makeovers with her friends and things like that.
Lily piled fruit and more unhealthy foods onto her plate. Her fruit consisted of pineapples, cantaloupe, honey dew melon, green grapes, and strawberries. Her unhealthy foods were a half of a waffle slathered in maple syrup and cressant rolls with lots of butter. She began eating her food when she noticed the fellow redhead next to her beginning breakfast. Lily asked her fellow redhead and Rouerie how she was doing and the girl seemed kind of hesitant to answer. From the girls answer Lily found out she was new at Beauxbatons. Lily smiled at her, remembering her first few awkward days. "Well, it's good to have you here at Beauxbatons. So how do you like Beauxbatons so far?" She asked politely. Lily had been extremely shy when she had first come, but then she had met the bubbly Kabriel and other people and soon she was talking more than usual. That was some of the magic of Beauxbatons, you couldn't exactly stay shy at Beauxbatons for long.
Lily began eating her fruit in small portions, thinking it rude if she just started downing food during the middle of a conversation. The new girl seemed reluctant to make a reply or she was just thinking of something witty to say. It was sort of a new student disease, but as you got more at ease with the place and people you learned to make witty comebacks and comments in a the second the last person had spoken. Lily smiled at the girl, trying to make her seem more at home. She didn't even know the other girls name, but she was pretty with not as dark red hair as herself. Lily ate more fruit until it was done and she began cutting up her waffles. As she began to eat the waffle the girl spoke again, happy with her reply. The girl gestured to her food and said something about starting the day with something yellow and spiky. Lily didn't feel to need to point out that the outside of a pineapple wasn't yellow and the inside was, but the inside was not spiky. Instead, she silenced her inner and outer nerd and laughed. "I've been told that as well. Well, I'm balancing out my healthy with unhealthy, though I probably have a bit more unhealthy." Lily said smiling. She was about to introduce herself when the girl, now known as Samantha, did. "Hello, Samantha, I'm Lily James Harper." She said, shaking the girls hand. "Nice to meet you too Kevin. I would shake your hand, but it might hurt."

The red headed girl- Lily, that was her name, was nice. She even thought that the Kevin joke was funny even though Samantha could admit it was not one of her best. She had asked her how Beauxbatons was and Samantha couldn't think how she could answer that with out dumping all her problems on this smiley happy girl- Lily, it's not that hard to remember but Samantha always did have trouble with names. Luckily Lily left the subject and continued on to tell Samantha about her theories on healthy breakfast eating. "Everything looks delicious," Samantha admitted,"I was mildly overwhelmed by the choice so I just grabbed a pineapple, as you do." Samantha was still pretty amazed she'd managed to find a whole pineapple in amongst the sliced up fruits. It had occured to her that it may have been intended as a center piece but you don't bring a pineapple to the table unless you want somebody to eat it. Pulling out her wand she started to slice the pineapple into even pieces and remove the skin, turning back to Lily as she did so. "I don't want to be rude, a meaningless sentiment as my next question is quite, well rude, but isn't James a boy's name?" Well maybe that had been too personal for someone she'd just met but it had made her curious. And Samantha was a terrible one for curiousity.

Samantha seemed to not want to answer the Beauxbatons question so Lily just left it alone. She's not very decisive about her answers... she thought. Lily sighed quietly and wondered what homework she had to do before she had class. Mythology? Nope. Charms? Nope. Muggle Studies? Probably. I should check to see if we have anything... hm, I just can't think of anything. It must be too early. Lily smiled at Samantha's comment, knowing exactly what she was talking about. "Yeah, it's quite overwhelming. I never know what to take, well I never knew what to take so now I generally take a bowl of fruit, a muffin and something else." Truthfully, Lily took a bowl of fruit and picked out the best ones, never eating what she didn't like. Some might call it picky eating. Lily called it tasteful.
Lily was surprised that Samantha already knew how to dice a pineapple as it seemed like she was generally new to Beauxbatons and magic. Though, she could have been schooled at home, but when Lily had learned a few spells it was nothing like that. Lily began eating her waffle, dipping it in maple syrup as she went. Waffles had always made her feel full for awhile, though sometimes she felt like she couldn't eat anymore, but two minutes later she was starved. That was one of the reasons why she had a muffin and fruit.
Lily laughed at Samantha's question. "I've thought that many a time. Um, so, yes. James is a guys name, but it's my mothers maiden name. I like to go my Lily James more than Lily Harper because my dad isn't really around anymore..." She said, trailing off at the end with a momentary lapse in cheerfulness. Her usual smile returned and she added her own question. "So, how did you pick Beauxbatons? Do you live near here or did your mum or dad go?" She asked happily, in between bites of her waffle. Lily quickly finished the waffle as she waited for Samantha's answer. "So can I call you Sami or something like that? Or just Samantha?" She asked politely. Lily had always hated when people would come up with stupid little nicknames for her and not even ask. Stupid little nicknames included Ginge and Ginger because of her hair color. She began munching on her muffin, waiting for the answer.

Well you got your answer, everything awkward enough for you now? She felt terrible about asking now especially sensing the moment of sadness on Lily's part. To distract herself, Samantha took a bite of the delicious, fresh pineapple slice. Yes, that's the stuff. She absolutely loved pineapples, the best fruit in the world; delicious and able to be used as a weapon in a pinch. Registering both of Lily's questions she tackled the easiest one first. "Oh god thank you for asking! I absolutely loathe Sammi, but if you want to shorten it just call me Sam. And I shall call you Lily, or possibly Terence depending on my mood. And well, I've been home taught for years by my mum, she's like some super practical wizard and she's been teaching me since I was like five years old. But ummm... " Samantha willed herself to just man up and say it, it wasn't that big of a deal. "Me and my friend we got into some trouble, some serious trouble and so we got sent away to different boarding schools to mature us." Samantha stared unseeingly at the table for a second then shrugged and took another bite of pineapple. Casting around for another topic she grinned and all traces of the sad, lonely girl from a second ago were gone. "So Lily, what do you do to have fun here?" She ran her finger round the now empty plate and then sucked the juice off.

Otis rolled over to his side and yawned while making other noises along with it. Waking up, Otis propped himself up on his elbows and looked around. Still nobody and Otis shrugged ( even if he was on his elbows, which made is an akward shrug in the least ). Rolling out of bed, Otis went to find some warm shoes. Searching for some socks first, Otis found some plain white socks and held them up to eye level. Well, this was the first pair he could find in the messy drawer, so he sat down and pulled on the cotton socks. His feet felt immensily warmer as soon as the socks were put on. Now clad in white socks, jeans, and a red t-shirt, Otis found his black vans of the wall! shoes and took his time tying them up. He was in no hurry to go anywhere, but as soon as he thought that, his stomach made a loud noise. Looking down to his stomach, Otis clutched it and told it to be quiet. Knowing that his stomach wouldn't obey until food was consumed, Otis decided he'd take a visit to the Dining Chambers. Knowing that there would be food there, Otis jogged down the stairs and lightly jogged out of the common room and into the castle.
Walking through the castle, Otis felt his arm hairs stand up a bit and he felt goosebumps from rubbing his arms to keep them warm. Why was he never prepared for anything these days? He always felt caught off guard for some reason. Otis pursed his lips in frustration, but the frustration dispersed as soon as he caught a whiff of the good smelling food. Groaning with hunger pains, his stomach voiced his thoughts with another grumble. Not bothering to tell his stomach to shut it, Otis walked a bit faster to his destination. His destination was reached once he passed through the entrance to one of Otis' favorite places in Beauxbatons. Food was a pleasure for Otis. He couldn't get enough of it! It was just so...amazingly awesome tasting. Well, most of the food he tasted was amazingly awesome tasting. He was human after all and didn't adore certain foods like he did with others. Walking towards the Rouerie table, Otis saw two people at the table and that was it. One he recognized from the bright red hair as Lily James Harper and the other girl Otis didn't really know all too well. He'd seen her around, but the new face hadn't been in any of his classes so far.
Now at the spot where the two ladies were, Otis caught a bit of what the other girl was saying. Otis sat down next to Lily and smirked. "Lily likes to be a daredevil and go down to the Catacombs and scare the little ones."
Otis said trying to keep a straight face. "Nah, I'm just kidding." Otis finally admitted as he smiled giving away his joking around. He'd have to work on that part. People always loved a good laugh and Otis sure loved one too. Plus, he felt like a different person lately and this kind of person liked to joke around a lot more than before. Grabbing some grapes, Otis popped a few in his mouth and chewed down on them.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Tracing her finger around the plate again, both to avoid eye contanct and get some more delicious pineapple juice Samantha was suprised when a different voice answered her question. A decidedly more male voice. She looked up to see a cute boy smiling at Lily. He looked familiar, definately in her year and... hey, wasn't he that prefect guy? Otis B-something. Suddenly she could understand why all the giggling little girls in her dorm had a crush on him and she herself felt concious of the fact she was only wearing her summer pyjamas under her over size red sweater, but her interest was more caught by what he had said. "Catacombs you say? Those do sound very mysterious and scary and by extension fun." This sentence was regrettably true to Samantha's thought process. Ever since her childhood Samantha had loved stories of Adventure with a capital A. And even as a child she'd managed to have many, a trait that her parents desperately hoped she'd lose but she had instead kept to this vey day. Samantha loved dark, creepy dungeons an dmysterious, moonlights nights and abandoned old houese that had been abandoned for years. Samantha peered at Lily surrepticiously, trying to gauge her reaction, to both the boy's interruption and the catacombs. She had only been talking to Lily for a few minutes but she supposed an adventure is always a fun way to make a new friend. "If you haven't scared anyone in sufficently daredevilish fashion yet, may I volunteer to be the first?" She grinned her signature Samantha Jones grin, mysterious, charming and to those who knew her terrifying because it indicated the start of one of her new harmless little ideas, "I'm an awful sucker for an adventure.''

"Excellent, I shall call you Sam or Samantha. Depending on the context. Terence? Interesting." Lily said smiling. Lily nodded along as Samantha told her that she was home schooled. It made sense because Lily couldn't think of any young wizard and witches academies because you didn't really know how to control your magic until you were at least eleven. She had been home schooled a little when she had gone to muggle schools, but that was just so her powers didn't act up during the day. During those times she had just learned simple cleaning spells and the basic spells one needed. "Aw, well that sucks. Is he/she are Hogwarts or Durmstrang? At least you get to join the Beauxbatons crew." Lily said, trying to lighten what seemed to be a sore subject.
Lily began eating some more, thinking over her day. She really did have nothing to do besides get ahead on some work that was probably going to be due in about a week or two. Lily sighed and looked back at Samantha. She sat there, eating and thinking. She was thinking about what to do that day and eating whatever was in front of her and one her plate when Samantha asked her what she did for fun. "Well that's a good question-" Lily began when she was cut off by a familiar male voice. She smiled and turned to see Otis sitting next to her. "Yes, I just love to prank little children down in the catacombs. Funnest thing ever!" Lily said sarcastically. "Exploring the palace always provides an adventure though. Something unexpected usually happens, whether it's finding a rainbow colored quill or an old treasure, something happens." Lily answered smiling.
"The catacombs are below the dungeons, I can show you if you like. Kabriel and I were actually going to go sometime soon to prank those little ones because it's our favorite activity." Lily replied, ending sarcastically with a stare at Otis. She began eating some more, taking a few green grapes as she finished her waffle. Samantha seemed to have a mischievous glow about her as she suggested pranking. Lily smiled at the thought of Samantha suggesting pranking students to a prefect. She laughed and said, "Well, let's see what Mr. Prefect says about this. Are we obeying the school rules? Have the handbook on you?" Lily said jokingly, obviously teasing Otis. She was actually really proud of Otis for making the position because he certainly deserved it. Lily thought about the idea of going down to the catacombs with Samantha, Kabes and maybe Otis? That would be fun, Lily could see Kabes and herself already wearing black. She would even put face paint on. "So, what adventure are you suggesting? Just so we can make sure it fits with the handbooks rules..." Lily inquired. If it was something good she wouldn't mind taking part in it...

Looking at Otis and Lily's friendly teasing and joking made miss Tyler more than ever but Lily was right. She was lucky that she got to go to Beauxbatons, every one had been really nice to her so far. She hoped that Tyler was having similar luck in Hogwarts. But true to Samantha's nature she couldn't focus on being sad when there was a mystery afoot. "Who cares about a handbook when there's adventures to be had!" She declared grandly,"No offense prefectly tall guy- I mean Oden. Sorry- I'm terrible with names." Samnatha was still hungry. Searching the over stuffed table, she saw a chocolate muffin and grabbed it taking a quick bite of chocolately goodness. Lily seemed to enthusiastic- or rather listening which Samantha took to mean enthusiastic. "Traditionally all the best adventures all happen at night but it's really dark down there so I'm sure it's the same. We could actually taunt small children but that's kind of mean don't you think? Or maybe there's monsters down there? Or ghosts? Ghosts are awesome. And who's this Kadriel? Aww who cares she can come, everyone can come!" Samantha kept going, faster and faster, caught up by her own energy like a perpetual motion machine. To fast to hard the way she always went just like all the other times, you'dve thought she would of learnt but she never did. And no-one had really told her she should. But then a stray thought caught her. "Hey Odette do you want to come to?

Otis laughed at the sarcasm Lily used. Otis loved sarcasm. It was a fun way to joke around and right now, Otis felt like he could fool around with people all day. He'd have to find that person people say is really gulliable and befriend. He figured she would be a fun friend to have. It sounded bad to befriend someone because they would be fun to tease, but hey! It would be an awesome time. Otis was now curious who these people were talking about lately. He'd have to catch a name soon and seek her out. Why was it always females he was hanging around with? Otis never got it. He just clicked more with females he guessed.
Laughing some more, Otis liked his new version of his name: Oden. "It's Otis Barberis. And the Catacombs sounds like a blast!"
Otis said raising his hands up a bit and waving them to emphzies his excitment. Lily teased him a bit about him being prefect and if it'd be against the rules. He actually did have his handbook in his bag that carried his school books, but obviously his bag was in his dorm, so he didn't have it on him. Opening his hands like it was the handbook, Otis pretended to read the rules. "Well it says here," Otis began by pointing at his palm, "that as long as we're having fun, it is totally allowed." Otis stated shutting his hands together in a matter of factly way and smiled big. Otis was totally up for this. He hadn't actually ventured down into the Catacombs since he wasn't really interested, but now that people wanted to go down and he was in his spontaneous mood, Otis was pumped. "Oh hey I didn't catch your name..." Otis said to the other girl Lily was talking to.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Rouerie Second Year

Post by Noemi Lefèvre on Apr 7, 2010 21:30:08 GMT -5
Noemi's eyes shot open quicker than the speed of light. Well, not literally that quickly but she awoke from her slumber faster than normal. She hastily got out of bed, not daring to let herself stay in there any longer. She knew that if she alloted more time beneath the covers and her head against her fluffy pillow, she'd fall right back asleep and wouldn't wake up until nightfall or for another hour or so. She needed to get up and going. School was awaiting and before she even began to think about learning, she had to eat a good meal and get herself ready for the day. Now the second part was always a long and tiresome process. Noemi was a perfectionist when it came to mostly everything. Her hair had to be just the right way and her makeup had to accentuate all the positives of her face. Her outfit had to show off her body but not too much. She had to have on the right colors and make sure that nothing clashed or looked too tacky. She had to be certain everything was in style and that she was keeping up with the rest of the world.
It was a hard thing to go through every single day. Sometimes she gave herself days off and only put on mascara or dared not to even put on a single drop of makeup. That was rare though. The best days off were when she spent all day long underneath her bed covers and just slept or lazily watched movies. She couldn't wait for those days, but Noemi wasn't going to be spending all day on her mattress. She had classes to attend and a meal to make an appearance at. What was a day without beginning with some pumpkin juice and good, old-fashioned Beauxbaton muffins? Her mouth was watering at the thought of all the food that was available to her. Noemi was often sneaking out of her dorm room during the night hours and going into the kitchen where house elves kept themselves busy preparing her even more food. She didn't know what she would do without all of them. They simply made her life so much easier. Maybe she could get one for her dad so that way none of the girls had to worry about him constantly. They would have an elf to help him and give him all that he desired, besides their mother. That was one thing he could never get back.
This wasn't the time for depressing thoughts though. She began to open drawers as she desperately plowed through her clothes. She needed something that was fresh for spring but didn't scream I'm trying too hard. Noemi just grabbed a pink tank top that didn't hug on her body at all, no rather it was rather loose on her. It didn't swallow her up though. She put on black leggings and some flip flops on her feet. Over all of that she put her school robes with the Rouerie emblem proudly showing off. Before she headed down to the Great Hall, she touched up with a bit of make up just to make it as though she hadn't rolled out of bed. Then she was off. Off toward the pumpkin juice, croissants, fruits and every other wonderful thing they served for breakfast. She flip flopped her way to the table and sat down with a bunch of other Rouerie students. Noemi smiled brightly at all of them. "Hi everyone!" she said loudly, her voice coming out at a higher volume than she had intended. She hoped they wouldn't mind that she joined them, but they really shouldn't. After all this was the Rouerie table and they were all part of that house. If she had sat down at the Sournois table then things may be different.

Okay maybe she had realised his name probably wasn't Odin or Odette however giving people nonsensical nicknames made her giggle childishly inside her own head and is there really a greater pleasure in the world? Otis asked her name and she smiled at him, realising that while she knew who the prefect was it was unlikely he knew who the random new girl was. "It's Samantha." She told him smiling at him a little more warmly than was nessacery but hey-- he was very cute. "So what do you say Lily?" She asked, nochantly stealing one of the girl's grapes," It's all up to you. Do you want to go on a completely legal and totally awesome adventure to the catacombs? We could all dress in black and be stealthy like ninjas?" Before Lily could answer yes to the call of the ninjas, another voice spoke. Samnath looked up to see another redheaded girl-- And in all honesty the overabundance of red heads was begining to become a little suspicious-- saying hello. She was acting loud and happy but there seemed to be an undercurrent of nervousness to her greeting. "Umm Hi..." She said slowly,"Who are you?"

Kerina was laying in her bed wondering why she was even awake. Then she remembered that it was morning already. She grumbled to herself, she most definietly was not ready to be awake. She might have killed herself if she could. Throwing her pillow at the curtains, she was gald she had dark curtains or else she would have never been asleep for the past few days. Slowly she got up ready for someone to tell her that she didn't have any classes or anything today. But nobody did, so she reluctantly went in the bathroom with her usual clothes in her hand. Turning on the water, she stepped in and the water was freezing cold, but she didn't really mind. It only meant that she was going to be awake faster. That is if she didn't get back in bed right after she took a shower.
A couple of hours later she was dressed, her hair was brushed, and her teeth brushed she walked down to the dining hall hoping for something to eat. It didn't take long for her to find what she wanted to eat, but the probelm was that it might have been a bit to much for her. Her plate was full of strawberries, pineapples, blackberries, three pancake with a lot of syrup and a donut. Staring at the food before her, Kerina muttered to herself, "How in the world am I going to finish all this? Sitting down she saw many people that she didn't know. But she was like that, she was never really the one to be talking to anyone.
She then decided that she was a bit to hungry to start talking right now so she started to eat her pancakes. When she took a bit out if it, it reminded her of the pancakes her mother use to make. Smiling she began to eat again, and soon she finished all three of the pancakes. Well, maybe it won't be so hard to finish eating all this. she thought to herself. When she swallowed she said brightly, Hi everyone! How's it going today?" Maybe a bit to happily, but it was everyday she saw people from her house.
