Hey Guys...

I have a suggestion to share about the site, so hear me out (:

So, this site is nearly dead now. Only about 4-5 people bother to come on here per day, and I'm really missing how active this site used to be. I personally believe that this is the time to delete the site and restart it. The reason why I think this is because we can have a fresh start! Once we have had a fresh start new members will probably join (as well as the last remaining old members), and we can totally restart the site with new roleplaying ideas and stuff instead of keeping an old site alive. Because not many people come on here much anymore... and its sad ):

Maybe one of the active admins could email all the remaining members with the new site link, and we can give loads of notice for members to rejoin the new site and collect everything they need from here to transfer to the new site before closing down.

Does anyone agree with me?

I really don't see the point of deleting it and restaring it, after all, this site is up since 2005. And I doubt that Madam Maxim would want that. What we could do indeed is to send to the archives all the dead topics and start new one and of course, a new skin. I do have to admit that the new pro-boards coding is so confusing and... new for myself. I was used to the previous coding and this one beats me up!
In my opinion, we should send a mass e-mail after, and only after the site is fully re-vamped. Otherwise, I doubt that the site is going to have its former glory. Not while other sites have a more catchy layout.

i think proboards are in general not very popular nowadays
i don't think it would be really bad if we all gathered and begun anew

I don't like the idea of shutting the place down to begin afresh. As Tzarina said, it's been open since 2005 so it's almost ten years old, it's been open too long and there's too much history to just close it to set up shop elsewhere. Besides, it's happened before when sites close, spin off or remake sites spring up, then within weeks those sites also lack inactivity and close too. It's a vicious cycle.

So yeah, I just think we need a revamp. We need to sort the messy coding on the site, maybe archive and replace numerous of the threads, a new wallpaper, new events, as well as lots of advertising. If we all work together than shutting down to start afresh wouldn't need to be an option.

Truth be told though, Harry Potter sites don't have the same allure as they did years ago so we still might not be booming, but hey... *shrugs*

I agree, can't make a new site. It wouldn't be right and wouldn't feel the same.

I also tried to learn the new Proboards coding, but... for the life of me I can't just figure it out. Maybe I've gotten too old to learn new things anymore, lmao! But I do think Proboards are still very popular these days, just as much as Invisionfree and Jcink for example. Once we got someone on board who would be good with this new Proboards stuff... We could get this back up. And I do think people still are excited about Harry Potter and make new sites based on it too, doubt it would be difficult to get members. With a lot of advertising of course. I'd be more than happy to help with all that. Ugh, I wish I could wrap my head around this new Proboards coding... It's supposed to be easier than before, but in my opinion it has just gotten a lot more complicated and confusing...

well in terms of backgrounds we could technically use themes that are already premade. ;3 and i am willing to help clean up as well~ but if not, i am not against moving to a new site. however i also do not mind staying and cleaning up. i am for it either way. ;3

I think BB has too much history to close and to be honest, it goes through these bouts of inactivity. Honestly a bit of cleaning and some updates is all it would really take to get involved again. When this place was booming we always had activities and different games and sorts going on. Activity is centered on those things, you lose people because they move on and a lot of what kept this site alive has, but there are plenty more people out there…. and honestly anything Harry Potter related still makes people giddy. After all look at the excitement behind Fantastic Beasts and where to find them [nods]

It is not a matter of someone knowing how to code the site.

I have already started a new code for the site a couple months ago. We were planning on updating and then all the admins dropped off the face of the Earth. We cannot change the code without administrative abilities

is there any way that we can get the admin's permission to update the site?
i can always pitch in as well. if needed, we can always
go to one of the proboards resource sites and get help.

Mattie is right - you could code for months and months, but without the permissions, you can't change anything unfortunately. When was the last time they were on? I thought I'd seen them around recently.

Well tzarina was last on a couple of weeks ago, but i don't think she has the same powers as the head admin (correct me if I'm wrong). But honestly, I think tzarina or someone should maybe contact an admin at proboards and let them know what has happened, and ask if there is any possibility to switch around head admins? (I think there is a thread for this - but again correct me if I'm wrong ).
